Starting strength is the best strength program on earth!
Is it just me or are there playback issues near the end?
Yes, it cuts out for 10-20 seconds several times.
Working on this now. Sorry for the issues. - Bre

God damn it rusty
Outstanding talk and best intro music on youtube 🤘🏻🤘🏻
This was a great podcast. Please bring Will back for more. I would very much like to hear his opinions on training the 60+ crowd. A very challenging demographic for coaches.

As a fellow sufferer of intestinal autoimmune problems (Ulcerative Colitis in my case) I went through a flare up a couple of years ago which was insufficiently managed by the use of Mesalazine. I ditched my doctor and handled it using Sunbaths, Vit D supplements, Mint tea, fasting and Paracetamol. My doctor laughed me out of his office for the last one, but I swear it helped control the symptoms on really bad days, much better than the mesalazine. It took about a year for the symptoms to completely disapear using these tools and no meds. Symptoms were manageable all the way through.
I know people put little faith in the home remedies but I had already gone through the medical protocol in my first flareup decades ago and saw there are no solutions there, unless you get on prednisone, which is unsustainable long term.
Hope you find relief.
When I see Rip, I feel pretty good about my physique... when I see these guys, not as much
Heavy metal is so relaxing, like punching someone in the face.
"The PRONE ROW!"
IN CA-DANCE! EXERCISE!
Where did you get these injuries from? Was it from lifting?
Are you referring to me or Ray?
Martial arts mostly
You think these guys will ever admit that lifting contributed to their injuries? They make a living trying to convince people to pay them to lift. They always have silly excuses like "I fell off a horsey once." Of course their lifting caused the injuries, if they never lifted or just stuck to a machine circuit they would feel tons better today, probably would not have had any surgeries, and would be pain free much longer.
@@Taskertyou’re such a loser 😂
Thank you very much guys... It was very enlighning sharing your experiences and it did confirm all my assumptions and observations when it comes to drug free lifting!
Also the guy is the best host, lots of other pods, the host kind of pushes it, often times it feels awkward and robotic over there, here its very natural and easy to watch/listen
We went into this recording with nothing more than a broad topic, and everything that occurred in this conversation was just natural conversation. There were no predetermined talking points, no rehearsal, and no agenda. Perhaps we accomplished the goal. Appreciate the feedback.
Humans aren't designed to lift heavy on a continuous basis.
“Get swole”, love it :)
Not sure about accessories not having an impact on your body shape. I’ve done a novice LP tens of times over the years and gotten great results. Adding in some direct arm work blew up my arms over. I’ve done novice LP with and without accessories and the accessories do make a difference.
I’d completely agree with you, except I think I would strongly suggest the preceding tiles you ran the NLP and developed a good baseline of strength was the defining reason why the addition of direct arm work was productive for you. All too often, you see people jump to adding in the isolation type work before getting strong and their progress is breathtakingly slow.
These pods are just great!
Much appreciated 🍻
Best lifestyle program on Earth.
I would love to see you guys interview a Mike Israetel on the specific topic of volume studies as it relates to muscular growth and the philosophy you espouse of. The training recommendations made by such PHD types are vastly different, and it makes it so hard to know what to do!
Starting Strength and Dr. Mike talked a few years back on a podcast.
@@derrick_v I know but they didn't really get into this topic.
I think they’re both important. Volume is important but strength allows you to do more volume with heavier weight: 10 reps with 315 will illicit more hypertrophy than 10 reps with 225. Strength is essentially the most important base that all other factors can stand on.
Dr mike is not about building strength though, he is basically trying to intensify lighter lifts to be able to get similar hypertrophy without as much weight. The whole point of SS is to gain strengh
Why can't people just drink milk and lift heavy? It's so simple. Who cares if you're 400lbs, women don't like abs anyway.
Swole patrollllll
That’s meee-ulk, son, and don’t you fergit eet!
This was a great listen! Thanks!
Ceiling is too low for OHP in my home gym. Is incline press a viable alternative pressing movement to incorporate into a program?
It’s not a perfect 1 for 1 substitution, but if you could layer incline bench press and a seated barbell press, you are getting close.
You could consider a seated shoulder press

Looks like ya'll didn't make the proper offerings to the machine spirits.
