Sometimes you can't cause the package is deemed too large, wish they had more options for large packages such as make an appointment for delivery. If you know when the package will be delivered you can keep an eye out for it.

Where I live they either drop the package right on my front porch, or try to hide it somewhat in a bush, or open the back gate and hide it there, or come back at a later date, or give it to a neighbor or nearby pick-up location. Delivering to a pick-up location or my work place is a much better alternative, especially for expensive things.

These shipping companies have a service where you can have your package dropped off at one of there access locations and you can go pick it up from there. Why people still don’t use it is beyond me.

If no one was able to sign, the driver has to bring it back to the building. These companies need to be a little smarter.

I still don’t know why people do home deliveries when they buy an very expensive item, I only do home deliveries for cheaper items that won’t hurt me if they get stolen because I expect it can happen in tough times like this. Meanwhile for expensive items I instead have to go to the post office close my grocery store and verify my ID and show delivery code in order to pick the package up, I know it can be annoying, but at least it’s better to be safe than sorry.
