- Agariyas are a community of salt farmers found in the Little Rann of Kutch in Gujarat. They move from their respective villages to the desert for eight months to farm salt in harsh weather conditions.
Living in tents and battling the lack of basic necessities such as drinking water, education, healthcare facilities etc, they aim to produce the salt that we enjoy in our food every day.

I follow all your videos and you define Journalism for me.
I am from Kutch, my wife is a nurse and she has worked very closely with these people at the salt farms its been years asking for temp school and clinic for these people. Meanwhile if you come to Kutch and see expensive sports and luxury cars on the road those belongs to the contractor/lease owner of these salt farms or sand mining (another major industry of kutch) all with political backgrounds or family connections. While they keep the country gets busy arguing veg vs non veg (us vs them) nobody cares about the core taste makers without Salt (Core populations of India) both food are just tasteless.

Need more and more 'Bharat ek Khoj' because it helps us to get motivated in our life. We tend to complain about pity, but rooted people are doing what they are exactly expected to do: hard work. I really hope that one day they will get their due. I wish I could thank them when I were in Kutch 6 years ago.

Business Insider also did documentary on them. I used to romanticised these salt flat and thinking about having psychedelic experience there, but after watching their conditions I just wish I could help them somehow and also the saddest part is the water situation.
Visit Ayodhya and show the on ground situation of it's native people.
