    These are more like airboats where we live. Hydroplanes to us use water born propulsion. This one has a similar engine but it’s on a pedestal pushing an airborne propeller. That just like airboats in my country. Very cool engineering though!! Damn that’s really fast!!

    Pourquoi vous n'utilisez pas the single - blade ... comme en F2.A ...
    THANK YOU ..
    bravo à vous pour ces performances...!

    I don't think that hydroplane touched the water once.

    Why are you using a 2-bladed propellor, as opposed to the 1-bladed propellors used in F2A?

    Really nice video. I run this class back in USSR in 80s and 90s. People who was doing this hobby will know me very well-I was in national team for 5 years.

    How long do the engines last running at those speeds (rpm)?

    • @rickyneal6758
      @rickyneal6758  4 роки тому +4

      These engines do not have a ring, they use a high silicone content aluminium piston in side a hard chrome plated brass cylinder bore, the bore is slightly tapered towards TDC, this creates the compression seal. they run on methanol with 20% caster oil and you get about 2-3 hours of total running time before the piston/cylinder wears out to the point that the performance drops off but they only every run for 15-50 seconds at a time so you can normally do a full season until the engine needs a refresh.

      Les moteurs tiennent normalement au top de la performances sur environ 2 à 3 compétitions après il faut refaire les ensembles chemises pistons et roulements de vilebrequins les pièces qui souffrent le plus ...
      Et puis y'a aussi les imprévus casse de bielle , sablage des culasses à cause des bougies qui grillent à cause souvent de carburation trop pauvre. Qui occasionne une surchauffe .
      De toute façon c"est une catégories difficile comme le F .2 .A pour les modelistes avertis et surtout motoristes

    Not really a boat ..water prop driven that is...why stop there just put hydrogen rocket engine on it ??

      how is it not a boat? Why do people keep coming up with these kinds of gatekeeping? A dhow is one of the most gorgeous things ever constructed by a human, but Spirit of Australia is just as much a boat. Are you one of those people that gatekeeper about what constitutes sailing too?

    There's a lot of hobbyist that just show the model sixty or more feet away and you can't see shiit but a bluer, now the way you show the integral parts UP CLOSE now that's neat!

    I was taking part in f2a comp, years ago. All that so called hobby is master of engineering. Now is only drones:(

    • @weatheranddarkness
      @weatheranddarkness 2 роки тому

      Different sets of engineering skills. Drones (multi rotor ones particularly) lend themselves much better to the kind of mind that gets into electrical and software engineering. These days it's things like autopilots, and LiDar sensors and artificial stability boards and electronic speed controls where so much of the work is done.
      I do tend to prefer machines with this kind of pure mechanical elegance myself.

    Does tethered hydro have the same "no nitro" rule as tether car racing?

    • @rickyneal6758
      @rickyneal6758  2 роки тому

      Yeah, exactly the same fuel 20% castor oil, 80% methanol. They generally use the same engines for a lot of the classes as well

    Merveilleuse mécanique qui hurle à la mort ....!! Des cellules en matériaux carbone , Titan , du travail de motoristes ingénieurs avec des moteurs de fabrication artisanale reconnu un PROFI RUSSE.... !!utilisé aussi en vitesse F2A bravo aces grands modéliste qui recherchent la performance maximale
