- Diablo - Tristram theme PIANO
Thanks to Max Loh for the sheets. They are pretty hard to decipher, but thanks for your effort. ;) / theguyi26
And thanks to Dioscuri90 ( / dioscuri90 ) for the inspiration.
I've wanted to do this theme for quite some time. I was aiming for the Diablo 3 release date, but I had to accept that there was no chance of that happening. I got absolutely no clue on how to read sheet properly, so most of the time I spent on this was to decode the sheets.
And the ending isn't right. I tried several approaches to the ending, but they didn't sound too well. So I ended up with a simple one.
But I feel I finally got it to sound okay.
So here you are, the theme from Tristram from the 1996 game Diablo. I've clocked a lot of hours in that game over the years.
Sheets and midi are as always found at rinerion.blogsp...
(The left/right in the midi isn't exactly correct, since I divided them with a midi editing tool. So its just trial and error. Play it how it fits you best.)
Let me know if you want the Mp3, and I'll upload it.
THIS IS NOT A TUTORIAL. Download the midi, together with Synthesia Game (synthesiagame.com/) and slow it down to your desired speed.
Follow my site at rinerion.blogsp..., my twitter at / rinerion2 and/or facebook / rinerion for future midi and sheet uploads.
Hope you enjoy.

This is one of my favorite songs of all time regardless of it being from a game. This version is absolutely beautiful. I get hypnotized by the chords swaying from side to side.
ua-cam.com/video/LRt8vT4nh8w/v-deo.html check this, then... He plays this song at 3:57.... and it HURTS ME for it is just for some 20~ seconds. Because it is absolutely beautiful
I'm 40, and I'm still stuck on the other side of the river.
I understand.
The memories
Same
A man with black armor and sword
How can such a dark game and music be so close to the soul yet feel so light I will never forget this piano version I've just heard it for the first time and I am in tears. Will make sure to come back here because I fall in love with this even more now hearing how beautifully complicated this is.
It really is a sound that takes you into the game and into yourself
I can agree with some of them, but I want to quote another user, from another of my videos regarding these "mistakes":
"They're not mistakes, they're intentionally added to give it some style and its great! Some people just don't understand creativity."
I worked with what I had at hand, and within my own skill level, and made it sound like I wanted it to, almost. I'm pleased with it.
rinerion I enjoyed it. Thank you for putting this together. Beautiful.
I've been watching this clip for years. This still holds up so well. Great job
Never delete this you making history
So old... yet still so emotional... Thank you so much.
this showed up in my feed this afternoon. After reading through the comments I am glad you did not call it quits half way through. You did a nice job!
Wow. Absolutely mesmerized. Hands down best piano version.
I used to play keyboard quite a bit in my youth. Even composed some of my own stuff. This has made me want to play again! Would love to be able to play this epic track.
2:58 onward is my favorite part of this interpretation. Great job!
I agree. That last bit is by far the most atmospheric part. Gives me chills every time.
fantastic... hypnotizing
You should definitely be pleased with it. I'm just being very picky because I've loved the original for the past 13 years and so far have not found a cover that is perfectly true to it.
Part 1: I hope this doesn't come across as too harsh. I do appreciate that covers of this wonderful song get uploaded. The best parts in this video in my opinion are 0:00 - 1:26, and 4:48 - 5:29. I agree with the previous poster that there was indeed some drift in the middle.
And regarding the backgrounds: Kind of hard to explain, but when I listen to certain music, I get this kind of images, or scenery, in my head. I try to bring these along when i make these videos. They kind of "complete" the feeling of listening to music.
Very nice job. I was classically trained and I understand music theory and I have over 20 years of piano experience plus I teach so for me, it was easy to pick up by following your this. Diablo was one of my favorite games growing up as a kid and I mainly play sports games.
Id love a vid of someone playing this well on piano
After years of playing Rock Band, all I can see is someone playing this song on their keyboard getting a perfect score.
so dope
Really good transcription, but this is just one of those songs best on a guitar.
it's amazing how changing the instruments changes the music completely, while really good, this doesn't sound half as amazing as the original
2:57 to 3:18 is the best part :)
This song freaked me out when i was kid X)
amazing rendition
The Feels
Thanks ;) It was all done with a notation software, and some minor tweaking with a midi software. I started this project some time ago, and was about to give up half way. That's why I asked if you had the sheets earlier. ;)
I think six octaves is enough. An octave is 8 keys long, that's 48 keys. Any long enough will do.
If you're for starters, try to go to piano lessons. However if you're stubborn or don't have time like me, and don't fancy reading notes, download for yourself Synthesia (the program shown in the video) and download any midi file songs you want to play. But I advice to learn the notes if you want to play well. Start off by something easy like Fur Elise, Tetris or Turkish March.
NEED DOWNLOAD!!! This is beautiful! :D
fantastic, my favorite part: 2:56
Woah... That's my favourite... Thank you very much...
i agree with you, d3 its a asweome release but i expected more, even more.. i still love d3 :D
This is beautiful - thanks!
Nice! Did you get a midifile from Max Loh, or have you created it on your own by writing it again in a notation software? Anyway, this piece is really hard to write as sheets, I guess thats why also Max didn't write anything out...
Aaaah the nostalgia
Just tested them, and they both work fine here.
Hey followed the link to the midi, no luck. Any advice as to how to access this file?
same dude.
So many key changes, wheeeeeeee
WONDERFUL
Best Soundtrack ever
You should also do the Torchlight 2 Main Theme. that would be nice. :o
would love a link for a mp3 download!
...those bots! still can;t believe how this one has 27 but than again, I never will...this is amazing...
I'm not charging anything for the sheets. They are available for free in the description.
Btw, I love your backgrounds!
I did not use the synthesia sound in this video.
I like your style. I am just a beginner. I look forward to seeing more of your work.
Beautiful
quite beautiful version of tristram~ ^^
cant get the midi files
commercials only
no way around it
sad sad sad
This is AWESOME!! And it's actually not too hard to play!
Thanks
Max Loh. May your offspring be blessed. Thanks for sharing rinerion.
Works fine here.
I've had the thought myself. I really like the TL2 theme. I'll see what I can come up with ;)
Hm, the links on the blog seem to not be working. I don't know if it's me, or the site.
Hey Rinerion, I'm a studying Audio Student with the Art Institute of Seattle and I plan to do my own composition of either this song or the Westmarch theme from Diablo III. I'm curious to know what program this is. Is this Sibelius or Synthesia?
The visual presentation is Synthesia, but the sound is a piano sound library. I believe it was Vienna Grand I used for this,
Thanks so much for the feedback. =^_^=
Just amazing!
Can we have an update on the MP3 please? i would really love this!
Stay awhile and listen
Wow. I wonder if the Diablo 3 team ever listened to this. Or even gave a fuck.
Russell Brower did the Diablo 3's Tristram theme by keeping the original scheme. I guess your troll can't be real when you're talking about Diablo and Blizzard's musics.
Así si es fácil llenar mí vacío 😊
Well done
can't find the midis
Music starts at 00:10
What are good songs to learn for beginners? I prefer video game music such as Metal Gear Solid, Assassins Creed, Starcraft (if that's possible), Diablo, etc. all those things would be wonderful, but I'm very willing to try something new. I can't play with both hands yet, but I'll get there! Any help and advice would be appreciated. :)
+Hero0fTimee Not being able to play with both hands and wanting to play video game music severely limits your options. Most one-hand sheets you'll find are common beginner songs. Maybe just pick up a song you like with a simple melody and only play the right hand, or even the vocal line? Though I'd recommend introducing the left hand as soon as possible even if it's only to play a bass note. I'm self-taught but my first song, while a simplified version of the song, still included both left and right hand. Building strength and nimbleness in your non-dominant early helps a lot.
Thank for sharing it ^^ Hard is to restituate this song without original sheets and fans like me not able to perfectly ready sheets love variante of tristram piano and ! this one, is easy way to play tristram.
Website on link is cool too ! Hope all take eye's on it ; )
Regards.
Dude the midis file doesn't work
Amazing:) Now I will learn this song!:) thanks
Friggin wnoderful. thanks so much
I liked the part when the piano starts to play.
I'd like to know how it drifted?
what did you set for instruments on synthesia? i noticed the midi the midi playback sounds different from the video if not slightly worse than the video/
Actually, there wasn't a lot of drift at all. In my opinion, you should go and listen to the original one more time, then listen to this again, carefully.
The link to the Midi on your blog is broken.
Impressive
Great show!!
Was sooooo long time ago T-T
Then check out Dioscuri90 here on youtube. It was he/them who inspired me to to this.
I love how there is one dislike lol. Way to be the odd guy out hah
sounds like my young self identifying and item in an autumn afternoon... life have been so simple once...
brilliant
You are everywhere diablo is. lol
Blake Scoggin it seens so you are
Are the links not working?
Thanks for all your work! Are you going to arrange the missing part?
What missing part?
rinerion The song lasts 7 minutes and 40 s in Diablo II version. Only the fist 5 minutes was arranged
*****
Then to answer you first question again; No.
+rc4a0frios Its DIABLO 1!!!
Jan Skácelík
The song appeared first in DIABLO 1, but ALSO appeared in DIABLO 2 in an extended form,
Is there anywhere we can get the sheet music from your videos for free?
1:26 this part is the best
it's horrible to learn music like this... takes tooooooooooo long... but it's nice for people who don't know how to read sheets
what'd you use for the sound on the video?
amazing
Can you give me the Midi file please
Program?
Omg it so frustrating for me this song is absolutly wonderful but so haaard to master, even after 2hours of training all I can do properly is the 30 first seconds.. Can anyone tell me guys: is it really possible for a human being to play the whole song on a piano? Or am I just that stupid noob that will never get after it ? Anyway REAL good job here dud
Stay a while and listen...
thx 4 upload nice n easy song
Awesome
Don't get me wrong here I'm not trying to be funny or anything, its just the program your using it kinda reminds me of the way Guitar Hero game is with the layout, except it would be called Piano Hero or something, and this would be a great game for people who like Piano and want to play along with their favorite songs done by Piano. =)
Good shit man!
This, but on harpsichord?
I don't think this is 100% correct, but it sounds good nontheless.
Hi bud can you do one for Rogue Encampman ? :) would be kick-ass!
*Sigh** The nostalgia XD
