    My maternal grandfather (1895-1973), who grew up on a farm in Tennessee, served as a Corporal in the U.S. Army in France during 1918 with a segregated unit of the Services of Supply.

    Here only to learn more about a war my very own grandfather was in. He was an amazing man he passed at age 99.

    The Horace Pippin painting she discussed is _The End of the War: Starting Home_
    It is an oil on canvas which Pippin began in 1930 & completed in 1933. It is currently displayed at the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
