You can do it anyway you like. There's no difference. I jacked the car up so I can drain the fluid into a bucket. As long as you can reach the drain plug you're good.
I just did ALL the coolant/heater hoses on my EF, and yeaaaaah, man: those firewall heater core hoses are an absolute B*TCH to do. Somewhere, there is an engineer who deserves to be shot.
@@BudgetGears It's nothing short of a miracle I got mine done without breaking anything. But I did manage to inadvertantly disconnect the speedo cable while I was doing those hoses. You know how much of a downer it is, to think you're done a job, only to test drive it, and have the speedo and the odo not work? Sighhhhh.

Lol. Oh yeah they're tough to replace. And the heater core is so fragile.
