I'm a little late to this party. How did I miss this one?? Anyway, several months ago I requested a trip up to Conneaut and there you are. You're the greatest DJ! Very glad to see this. That one remaining Hulett was slated to be removed and scrapped as the other's were, but was saved by some railroad historical society some years ago. The old archive footage of those things unloading ships was a marvel of ingenuity and design. They resembled huge mechanical dinosaurs. Sad the Hulett went the same way as the dinosaur. Thanks again for the amazing video shots!

Yeay, I’m glad you saw this. Sorry it took so long to get my butt up there but I spent most of May and into June trying to travel and show some stuff that was new to me and my viewers. The weather was perfect too.

DJ, absolutely awesome drone footage. It is so smooth and peaceful. Your explanations lend a great deal to the video. I really appreciate all you put into making these videos. I'm glad you were able to get away and film so many exciting places. Take care.

Now you are up in my area. I visit Conneaut and Ashtabula a lot. I remember the turntables in Conneaut back when I was much younger.
Go a little west to Ashtabula and on the northwest side of the CSX and NS crossing, you will see the remains of what was a roundhouse.
A little farther west (about 25 miles) and you come to Painesville where a local group of enthusiasts are restoring the old NYC station.
About 2 miles north in Fairport there used to be a turntable and roundhouse on the old F,P, & E (Fairport, Painesville, and Eastern) which is now NS. The FP&E diesel yard engines have been scattered with at least one of them in Jefferson on the AC&J.
Lots to see so come and visit us!
BTW, NS and CSX run very close together from Perry to Madison. Great place for watching trains.

DJ, you are an amazing drone pilot. That’s fabulous footage. The one piece of equipment that used to awe me when I sailed on the Great Lakes was the Huellett unloaders…all gone now. Again, very informative video for modellers. Thanks for sharing. Cheers, Andrew 👍🇨🇦

Really cool, DJ! Is the Conneaut station on the Amtrak Lakeshore Limited? When we do long distance Amtrak travel, we get on at Syracuse, NY to Chicago for the connection. The NKP loco looks familiar. I always get off the train and check out the local displays of railroadianna. Our upcoming trip will be Amtrak to Savannah GA via NYC Penn Station. We get a roomette on the trains and our trip is paid for by Amtrak rewards (Bank of America) credit card. Cheers and keep up the fantastic vids! Bob

DJ, how do current diesel locomotive engineers view steam locomotives? Are they viewed in the same manner we might look at a 1938 Ford classic car (just something neat to see) or is there a deeper affinity for the massive machines your forebearers operated?
