I bring this up because in America tech has gone largely (if at all) unregulated (because greed, lobbying, etc. (look up a video of Leeja’s and she’ll explain it, or read/watch Kara Swisher))

    the largest problem here, wether or not AI is involved, is trust. In all honesty, similar things have been happening since the dawn of what we think of as democracy, the only difference is the reach and insane ability to deceive that we now possess. Keep in mind, the same technology could also be used to inform and spread the correct information accurately and faster than any human news program. Unfortunately, I believe that our society of self importance and reliance will mean that we will not have the community connections required to wether such a storm of disinformation. Everyone wants to control the flow of information because it's easier to get compliance from ignorant people than it is from educated free thinkers. eCampaings became popular because it's easier to capture attention span with rage and clickbait than it is with well thought out discussions and political discorse... which is great for the corporate suites who realy hold the power, as long as the ignorant masses follow directions that is... directions given to them by Ai, the media, big tech, facebook, twitter, you name it, they are using it to condition your thinking and secure your vote. In this case, by the word "they" I mean anyone with an agenda and enough money to push it successfully, wether that be good, bad, or otherwise.

      @user-gu9yq5sj7c 2 місяці тому

      Media literacy does does perfectly prevent people from being deceived. Also, you can't perfectly teach everyone. AI regulation is needed.
      People shouldn't be so burdened so much to perfectly research if every little piece of 1000s pieces of content they view is accurate or not or be overly blamed if people get tricked sometimes. Especially if they already tried their hardest.
      That's a unrealistic burden to force on people.
      Also, AI will improve to look more realistic.
      Realistic AI fakes will also make people paranoid. Especially if we force all the burden to be on individuals.
      If people watch this channel that leans democrat/lib, don't most people here care to help people? Like with regulation.
      Also, media literacy doesn't stop the harm AI can do. Like steal art or work or revenge p0rn, that also caused 14 yr old Mia Janin to kill herself. Or make child p0rn.

    But seriously, as terrible as AI is as concept that's being used today, the proliferation of AI could also bring about some good. It could strengthen the need and adoption for more sophisticated systems of authentication. It could help agencies better identity its cues, and better educate the general public when it comes to identity fraud and internet scams. And, I think most importantly, it could help reinforce the idea that you should never fully trust everything you read, see or listen to on the internet.
