Wow Donut Media just uploaded a video about James Dean. Check it out. Creepy
Hello,
Can you make videos about the conquistadors Cortés and Pizarro?
Future video suggestion, perhaps Archibishop Desmond Tutu.
Can you do a video on Rodrigo borgia
Quote : "I'm not a homosexual"....James Dean. Bast and Dean were NOT lovers. Jimmy was straight, hence the girlfriends.
James Dean was an awesome president! I loved his inaugural address!
I was looking for a monument mythos reference. Lol
😂😂😂😂
I wonder if he had a Stand like the 23rd president did
He opens his mouth and the words wont come out :D
“Dream as if you’ll live forever. Live as if you’ll die today”
James Dean
James Dean was a great actor and will forever be an American icon. He had the potential to be a massive film star, he would have been on the same level as Marlon Brando. God rest his soul.
Pure speculation.
I feel like he and I are long lost loves of all time. We are soul mates I want to meet him in the afterlife and get married. We belong together.
You have no idea how long I've been wanting Simon to discuss James Dean 🔥
This is going to be great
I don't know why I'm thinking about Jimmy Deans, the breakfast meal.
One of my favorite cognitohazards and US Presidents
James Dean is no man...
@@BrinaFlautist he is a Vibing
@@angeimer4276 *extremely loud vibe music plays on sirens*
After watching the film Giant, I come to realize his role and film definitely had elements of future CBS Drama "Dallas". And I was right (I read that creators of Dallas had used Giant as a template). Dean's role very much reminded me of Digger Barnes
Sooooooo a 1950s Dallas I am sure the producers and writers completely drew on Giant for the base of that series. Jett is Digger for sure but also once striking oil a bit of JR as well. I always wondered if anyone else but me thought that. Thanks Awesome comment
If you’re on a hollywood high, I would recommend Jim Morrison. James Dean was an icon as well.
Oh, please do Jim Morrison next!!!
Dean was gayer than a 2 dollar bill, he got caught making out with a few different other secret Hollywood gay dudes. Back when gay people were cool and didn't force feed their way of life into every conversation or teach 3 year old children about drag queens... or demand you call them plural pronouns...or destroy women's sporting records...or demand I believe that men can get pregnant.
James Dean was not gay there is no proof
You’re not gonna mention the part of his life when he became the president?
That's like having a doc on Rockefeller pretending he was president!
I'm not sure what came first, but when I was in high school in the '80's, I saw Rebel, read East of Eden (then watched the film) in my American Lit class, and was really into the Eagles, who did that song Simon references on their 3rd album. I've kind of been in love with James Dean ever since.
I actually noticed that around the 80s there was a big obsession around 50s pop culture and nostalgia. A lot of craze over classic icons such as James Dean or Audrey Hepburn, shows and movies like Happy Days, MASH, Back To The Future, some big artists like Billy Joel and David Bowie taking on that classic sound, etc.
Kinda funny but cool how back in the 80s people loved 50s nostalgia, and now we love 80s nostalgia haha
Hey i love James Dean! I love the part when he try to stop the vietnam war and save us all from deafness with his hearing aids!
@@thelegion3682 wtf are you talking about💀 they’re referencing the Monument Mythos. It’s a series on UA-cam
The Porsche car James Dean died in, crashed because of its metallic paint, which made it nearly invisible in certain light conditions, which was what Alec Guinness noticed and hence the comment.
President Dean was an actor too??
james dean was a true gem, he was one of the best presidents ever
James dean was behind the Siren Incident the ADL was framed
@@sadtimesalways The sirens were killing anyone who got within a certain radius of them yet James Dean managed to go and repair one personally and not die. Sounds very suspicious to me
HE WAS A SUPERB ACTOR.
He truly was the greatest president
My grandparents still talk about him fondly, how he personally went to help those who had suffered hearing loss during the incident of May 13th 1969.
Crazy to think how people actually trade to overthrow him.
God bless James Dean the 37th president 1969-1977
"What are we waiting for? Let's bring them back home." -Prezzo Jimmy Dean
Literally one my most favorite human beings of all time I wish we could’ve seen more from him RIP to a legend 💯
And little did he know that his picture would henceforth adorn the walls of innumerable 50's-style diners, forever sandwiched between those two other shorthand symbols of the decade, Elvis and Marilyn Monroe.
2:00 - Chapter 1 - Parental figures
5:10 - Chapter 2 - Vampire jimmy
9:05 - Chapter 3 - Dissected like a rabbit
13:45 - Chapter 4 - Portrait of the actor as a young man
16:40 - Chapter 5 - Giant
It was hwy 46 not 466 were he crashed .There is a store on that road called black wells corner on the corner of hwy 46 & hwy 33 that is dedicated to his legacy.apparenty its were he made his last stop before passing just down the road.I recommend anyone passing through to make a stop..Really worth it. I work down the road from there.
The highway was changed from Route 466 to hwy 46
@@michaelwilburnGBS Good to know..Thank you
Steve Biko is the man I want a video on.
Please Simon and your team
He’s my favorite actor and to see an episode about him made my heart skip a beat. He was quoted as saying he loved dead poets and painters and such, well, I truly love him. Having never met him. Having only his work and life story to fill in the gaps. It’s odd. But if there’s anyone to love like that, let it be Jimmy.
You forgot to mention his presidency dude
DEAN DEMOCRACY 1968 🇺🇲
The Greatest Actor Every. RIP James “Jimmy” Dean.
That’s weird. Two consecutive James Dean suggested videos within seconds of each other. The only interesting trait we share is that we both own notably dangerous sports cars.
Im glad im not the only one who noticed. Very weird
Chrysler Sebring Convertible?
James Dean is so amazing just so beautiful and talented he will never be forgotten rip my little prince thank you so much for this ❤️❤️👏👏
"The life you might save might be mine"
I'm surprised you didn't mention this quote of his! He said this on a driver safety PSA.
Simon, you forgot one very important detail, James Dean was both a great actor and the greatest president in U.S history, winning in 1968 against Richard Nixon before bringing him to race cars after his amazing minute long inaugural address. Very surprised at you, perhaps the ADL got to your sources but James Dean was our 37th president, odd to leave it out but otherwise great video
My GOAT. I've watched Rebel 20 times and counting. I see a different choice of his each time.
Could you imagined if he lived into the 21st century? He would have been a bigger star. What couldn’t he learn? He would have had so much knowledge to share
I live about 20 to 30 mins from where James was born in Marion Indiana . Iv been to Marion quite a bit . Iv always looked up to James mostly because of where he came from . Such a small place but he still was able to make it out n become more then noticed . If only I had the talents this Man had . I so wish .
Damn, I never realized he only did 3 movies. That is something.
And one PSA (public service announcement) in which he speaks about driving too fast. His line is, “the life you save may be my own.”
He did others too but in bit parts.
In New York he starred in many television apperances. It was the early days of television so they were much like televised plays.
I always love it when this guy explains people in history.
I also hear he was a great president
Breaks my heart knowing that jimmy never got to experience just how wild the 60s and 70s racing scene would be, it would’ve been right up his alley and I bet he would’ve been a superstar in any of the major groups
I had watched "Rebel Without a Cause" with my mom when I was probably 7 or 8, and the "YOU'RE TEARING ME APART" line had always stuck with me, as did the scene with him in the road with the little cymbal monkey. But I never cared about what happened to actors from movies. I didnt see actors, I just saw characters that only existed in that film.
I kind of grew out of that mindset, but it wasn't until my senior year when I decided to "make it an easy year" (which I later regretted not taking a math class because it fucked up my college plans) I took a film history class (which I have never regretted) and it truly taught me how beautiful history could be, and seeing it caught on film in any conceivable way is incredible. Watching the old Lumiere 'films' of people simply walking up and down stairs or clocking into work, and realizing that was entertainment back then, if only for the novelty. Then The Great Train Robbery causing panic because film had evolved to the point where someone could "shoot" a gun right at the camera, then the Silent Era, where I discovered Buster Keaton and his physical comedic styling, followed shortly after by the Marx Bros.
It all gave me a very broad view on how film can capture so many things, from sports bloopers to violent goldfish to cats befriending birds to people seeing color for the first time through special glasses. Film is a beautiful tool, and film, along with the successes and tragedies that come along with it, is an invaluable way of showing how far we've come so quickly and how much more is to come
James Dean, one of my favorite, if not, my favorite actor. Thank you for this video
I'm expecting there's going to be a Decoding the Unkown on James Dean's cursed car in the future maybe.
You forgot the part where he was president of the United States
Sincere condolences. May he rest in peace 🙏
Huh, I randomly just looked up James because I wanted to learn more about him, only to find a video by one of my favorite creators.
So very very sad that story, I never knew his life was really like this. Thanks you
James Dean was a interesting fellow. Thank you for the video.
The greatest president we ever had
Oh wow, I live in Hollister, CA! Around a 40 minute drive from Salinas...
Great video, really enjoyed it.
Epitome of live fast & die young. RIP
You mean President James Dean?
I’m watching this hoping that James Dean’s presiential term gets discussed.
I thought I knew everything about him(Jimmy) you brought a lot of things out... that I knew nothing about ...this was fantastic and so surprising .loved it
You forgot to mention when he beat Nixon and became president of the United States.
I watched this just to see if you mentioned Dean's friendship with Maila Nurmi, aka Vampira. Her life is well deserving of its own Biographics video.
And his friendship with Eartha Kitt was something else as well
A actor, racer and a car lover!!! the man himself (james deen)!!!
Thank you 🌺
Well done Simon & Co.
Dean's famous line from Rebel Without A Cause, "You're tearing me apart!" has been reused in TV shows and cartoons. I don't think young kids watching the cartoon in which that line was uttered even got the reference. Oh, the cartoon was Jimmy Neutron Boy Genius. The character Carl Wheezer said the iconic Dean line, not word for word, but, I could tell where the writers got their inspiration.
There’s another iconic line that I recently saw on Instagram, where James Dean is trying to prevent Sal Mineo committing suicide, trying to trade his trademark red jacket for the gun, but talks to him about whether he’s ready to come out or not. Both men were gay. James Dean was brash with it. Mineo was not, & was later murdered by a street hustler. While not intentional, the lines have taken on new meanings over the years.
Great stuff 👏🏽
Let's also not forget when he was US President
Alec Guinness was correct about how James Dean would die, and the car he died in.
His Jedi sense was tingling!
"Giant" is my favorite movie of all time. You can't miss with Rock Hudson, Elizabeth Taylor, and James Dean.
Can you do the history of The Thunderbirds?
It's a long, ever-changing story with skill and tragedy.
Thank you from the YF-23 23 guy.
God jul og godt nytår
Wow that was an excellent episode. I had no idea James Dean was bisexual, and that one of his great loves was Jerry Seinfeld's stage mum. Bizarre. Thankyou Bio team.
He wasn't bi at all, it's well documented that he would hussle to get where he needed to get to, that's very different to being bi, there is a lot of MIS information in this video with regard to James and his relationships
@@knoxieman by 'hussle', do you mean he had sexual relationships with men as well as women?
@@knoxieman nothing says straight like having sex with men
@@knoxieman If someone lies to get what they want are they still a liar?
If someone steals to get what they want are they still a thief?
If someone murders to get what they want are they still a killer?
If a man has sex with a man to get what he wants does that mean they're gay or bisexual?
The answer to all accounts is yes.
Your logic is flawed.
There is no evidence Jimmy was bisexual. Only rumours and lies.
Thank you
🐺
Marilyn Monroe would be a terrific biographics
Let’s be clear: Strasberg did not hone the method by any means. His style is heavily critiqued today, and Stanislavsky himself told Stella Adler that it was a total bastardization of what he had philosophized.
I love your videos!👍
My grandma was obsessed with him back in her day
Greetings from Salinas, California ✌🏼😎

Rebel Without a Cause is one of my personal favorites.
To think in another universe, Dean replaced Nixon as president.
Would you please do a Biographics video on actress Carole Lombard? She was killed nearly 80 years ago while on a War Bond drive, the first Hollywood casualty of WWII.
Crazy How I've been randomnly recommended his content today then Simon releases this
Hey Simon I always wanted to see your channel do videos on athletes like Michael jordan or Mike tyson.
Good video 👍
Very nice
👍👍
A legend! 🌟🎥🎬
Hope you get 2 million subs soon❤️❤️
I would love to see you guys do a video on Marlon Brando 🤔 another phenomenal video!!
as someone young who grew up only really hearing his name as reference such as in the song rock on, i didn't know much, i kinda figured he was just a hollywood sex figure, but this has taught me a lot. sure a lot of the pictures shown would lead you to still believe that but it's clear that he was an extremely complex individual.
Fine work Simon . I didn't even much care about James Dean. But this was great.
seinfeld"s mom was roommates with james dean? yo...trippy
Interesting advert at the start of the video! Actors in black face! Classy sponsor
Where do we start ? … The IMMORALIST (Advocate of Immoral Behaviour) NOT the IMMORTALIST (Exempt from Death) // Elia Ka Zan NOT Kay Zen // and three out of three Pier Ann Jo Lee NOT Ann Jelly, but we still love 💕 you and your Classy Christmas Sweater too !!
James seemed to be bipolar. That's how my moms and my daughter (both RIH) acted. Manic energy one day the next they didn't want to get out of the bed.
I thought the same, bipolar.
I agree with you 🙂
In his days it was known as Manic-Depressive Disorder.
I agree.
I've been watching Cleopatra movies this week - 4 so far - and can't shake the notion that Marc Antony was more likely a self-medicating bipolar sufferer, rather than the drunken libertine he was reported to be.
Who else among the unforgotten might be better understood this way?
the volatile mood swings in combination with the attachment to others to the point of mirroring them make me think he might have had borderline personality disorder. it would make sense bc i think he obviously had abandonment issues due to his trauma with his parents and that’s a very big part of bpd. but i’m not a psychologist and i never knew him so i’m just doing some useless speculating lol
Do one on Charles Sumner or on the Kent state shooting
Fantastic
Love these videos.
Just finished Donut Media's video on James Dean and his "cursed" transmission that just sold for almost $400k. Scrolled down to find this released at the same time 😅
The inspiration for Frye’s outfit! If you know you know!
Long Live president Dean
Weird that you didn't mention his term as president. But great video I love James Dean.
RIP
James Dean
(1931-1955)
Do original Irish Tenor John Count McCormack who was the original one man solo show who performed for presidents and popes and even made a Hollywood movie biopic and sang to huge audiences without amplification for almost all his life. He and Caruso were the two best of their days. Also Björling. The three of them were the superstars of their era. Bet you can come up with a great BioGraphics on these three.
I'm from Salinas, very sad to know he died on his way here :(
Im unsure if Gary Marshall used Dean's character in Rebel as a template (Marshall claims he based Fonzie on a hoodlum he knew when he was young), but even in episodes of Happy Days lead character Fonzie idolized two historical figures "The Long Ranger" and "James Dean"
Another recommendation for Biographics would be Tupac Shakur. If James Dean got this amount of historical coverage on this platform, then 2 Pac would be fitting as well. Their lives are very much parallel in how they achieved so much within their young lives taken away so unfortunately.
He would have had a great career if he had lived longer
I’ve read comments online that people think he simply would’ve faded from the Hollywood Limelight had he lived a little bit longer.
I saw the porsha spider that had the next chassis number up from James Dean's car in fox collection museum in Melbourne
I'm not sure that he would have - a lot of gay and bisexual men were forced to obscurity.
Maybe he wouldn't. Who can say?
Hello,
Can you make videos about the conquistadors Cortés and Pizarro?
Loved to know more about his interactions and relationship with Marlon Brando
You wouldn't believe it.

I’m still hoping for you guys to cover Woodrow Wilson or Philippe Pétain!
The autocratic Wilson has been done, and Quisling Pétain is better forgotten.
