What an exciting presentation, I'm sold. In all seriousness, just imagine hearing this explanation from a triple A studio nowadays about an upcoming project... no one would believe that the final product would remotely live up to the badass concept being pitched
Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn › Initial release date NA: September 21, 2000 Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura › Initial release date September 26, 2000 this was a huge mistake, this is why i had not heard about your game until like ~2010 it flew completely under the radar where i live (Eastern Europe) and BG2 was a big hit here even then and i like these rpgs, these were my childhood and i never remember anybody mentioned Arcanum back then, which is weird because we played Fallout 1-2
There are many reasons a game might not sell well that has nothing to do with the game itself, and this is one reason, its ship date. I’m putting together a whole video on that topic of why games don’t sell.
Sheesh, this game sounds sooo good!, not only has an unique setting set in the industrial revolution of a magical world but also enough branching paths that our acts do impact the environment not only in local or state wise but also in the long run. Plus it gets rid of the generic class systems by bringing up an ergonomic set of tools for us to forge our characters which operate in tune with the inhabitants of the world. Man I was thinking into saving money for The Outer Worlds 2 but this Arcanum thing gets it first. Any official release date you can throw at us or it is still secured behind an NDA agreement?
Hey Tim I have a quick question, what would you say you should first do or most important thing to do to start a video game studio? Thanks love your videos and I love hearing your insights :)
Sir! You have made some of my favorite games of all times.. and we need more people like you, back in charge, running things. The current state of Western video game industry is, dire.. to say the least. Between Publisher inference and their own incompetence, Developers lost sight of how to make a great game. You call yourself a "geek", and probably a "gamer" as well, and I wonder how many at BioWare, Bethesda, UbiSoft etc would truly share those sentiments. If anything, most current day Devs seem to outright hater "gamers", and go out of their way to mock, belittle and attack us. When we express our dislike toward a trailer, they call us this and that, and simply dismiss our concerns. Then, when inevitably, their 200+ million dollar game fails to make its cost back, let alone profit, and studios start closing down left and right, it is somehow our fault and we suppose to feel sorry for them. I apologize for the long rant, which has little to do with your actual video, I just feel so frustrated seeing these once great companies falling so far from grace.. Current day Devs think that they are soaring amongst the clouds, not realizing that they're just standing on the shoulders of giants. Thank you for everything you have done, and please keep these videos coming.
Always a joker I see based on the introduction. In your opinion has personality left the industry like that ? I have a feeling most game companies are following corporate america and it never inspire me to read their blogs because of it.
You sold me on the game.
An impressive game 👏🏻

Talk to a lawyer.
I’d wager the second thing you should do is talk to an accountant.
@@Jump-n-smash And before remote work, the third thing was talk to a realtor

"Scope-creep: the game." 😂 JK. I love games with ambition. Imo the best games were made shooting for the stars. Embrace the jank! 😊
