These people look for young people who have no experience to exploit them. I’m so happy I didn’t go as an au pair after high school because I wasn’t prepare to deal with abusive people like them
so true! i don’t know about other people but i wouldn’t recommend being an au pair at 18 or 19. you’re so young and it’s easier to be taken advantage of
I literally don't understand where some of these families get the AUDACITY to say some of these things to their Au pairs. I don't like it when a family says something like they are disappointed or you are wasting your potential etc. Like who gives them the right to say that to their Au pair? 😅 Glad to hear you got out of that situation girl!
i really don't get it either. it's like they don't realise that you're a young person in a foreign country, it can really mess with you. and it's really weird behaviour considering that you came all the way from your country to watch THEIR children!! I thank God every day that i'm not in that situation anymore 😅
I wish there was an app to leave a review on host families (and also Au Pairs) just so the next Au pair or family know what they're getting into....but I guess it's part of the experience
The family went too far. Personally I would have been shattered if I were the one that was told that I was wasting my potential.I love the fact that you didn't exaggerate things and made it look like you are the victim ( though you were) . I am sure she would watch this video and know where she is at fault.
i really was heartbroken! even though i'd make jokes about it with friends, it really hurt me a lot and it's still something i'm processing 🥲. i can only hope, especially if they get another au pair in the future
Wow girl you are really strong! Kind, nice and good personality. I know you try to make the host family sounds good, but i think she gaslight you.. just such a bad host family. Hope everything's fine for you now, good luck in the future ❤
Looking into Au Pair work so my sister can travel really.. she has experience taking care of children newborn to 11 so thats cool .. but she doesn’t travel out of our state .. this type of work would get her far from her norm and if she doesn’t like it she can come back home .. but she will learn..
They sound TOXIC! The husband/dad sounds like he has no respect for boundaries at all and is lowkey weird for the underwear thing and the comments💀💀…. Guurl uyakwazi ukubekezela😭 I respect that. Glad to hear your new family is treating you better. All the best!
Probs to you for trying to stay decent and nice while talking about your experience. This familiy sounds extremely racist, creepy and rude. Dropping that comment about black people having too many relatives anyways to a black persons face? Let alone somebody who has just lost someone? That is just evil! I hope that you are now able to see in all clarity how disrespectfully you were treated and recover from being trapped in those horrible people's house.
a part of me feels like they didn't realize or at least want to acknowledge that they were slightly problematic, they felt like they were doing me a favour. it took me a while to be able to talk about without crying. i just hope that my experience will help someone out there
