Marissa you may have seen the Orionid meteor showers at that time. In October of 2003 on Halloween while driving home from work looking north west, I saw a rare northern light display here in NH. I thought "the sky is looking odd" and then wham! It was such an unexpected beautiful treat for the eyes and thanked God for colored vision! I know it's been awhile since this video but was so happy you all got to see the northern lights. They are a lovely celestial treat.
