- Die schwedische Band Mando Diao gibt es seit 1995. Rund zehn Jahre benötigten Mando Diao um über die Grenzen ihres Heimatlandes hinaus bekannt zu werden. Seit 2002 haben Mando Diao acht Studioalben veröffentlicht und davon weltweit über 1,5 Millionen Einheiten verkauft. Die Schweden haben über 1.500 Konzerte in 30 Ländern gespielt und sind bei etlichen großen Festivals als Headliner aufgetreten. Und das haben sie erreicht, indem sie einfach nur konsequent ihren Weg gegangen und ihrer eigenen und ganz persönlichen künstlerischen Vision von Rock gefolgt sind.
Die Crew um Sänger und Gitarrist Björn Dixgård hat irgendwann mit klassischem Rythm'n'Blues angefangen, setzt dann mehr und mehr auf Elemente der Beatles, der Rolling Stones oder der Kinks. Im Lauf der Zeit wurde der Sound eigenständiger und streckte seine Tentakel in andere musikalische Bereiche aus, ohne die Energie und Haltung des frühen Rock’n’Roll zu verlieren - und immer mit Björns charismatischer Stimme als Fixpunkt.
Mit ihrem fünften Album "Give Me Fire!" und der Hitsingle "Dance with Somebody" gelang Mando Diao 2009 der internationale Durchbruch. Danach überraschten sie mit einem rein schwedisch gesungenem Folkalbum und es folgte eine Phase, in der Mando Diao mit unterschiedlichsten Sounds arbeiteten.
Mit dem Album "Bang" wollen Mando Diao an die Erfolge von "Give Me Fire!" anknüpfen.
Diese Energie findet sich dann auch in den Live-Shows von Mando Diao wieder, in denen die Mitglieder, die alle verschiedene Instrumente beherrschen, ihre pure Lust am Spiel bei den diversen Hits und unerwarteten Juwelen austoben.

Cant believe they kept the name mando diao after gustaf left, should have started another band. Now its hard to find the good old real mando diao videos on youtube. clogging the search results up with this new band.

that's not true. you can find old videos from Mando. Gustaf was very important, his voice is unique, but it's in the past, was his choice. move on. Bang is such a great album.
Björn's Stimme und seine Aussstrahlung waren immer das Markenzeichen von Mando Diao. Und jetzt mit Jens' Gitarrenklänge eine echte Bereicherung.
Vielleicht gibt Gustaf mal einen Gastauftritt als Ergänzung. Es ist unumstritten, dass sich beide Stimmen sehr gut ergänzten.
