"You" by Chicago and Earth, Wind & Fire Montage. Here is a video I made of Chicago and Earth, Wind & Fire's original song they made back in 2009 as a fundraiser for the World Hunger Year, Inc. The proceeds of this song went to the homeless. This is a very upbeat, funky song sung by Chicago's lead singer Robert Lamm, former lead singers Bill Champlin and Jason Scheff, and Earth, Wind & Fire's lead singer Phillip Bailey. The lyrics are all about helping others so I put inspirational footage of different people helping each other in the video as well as clips of the bands performing together. These 2 legendary bands are touring again this summer and it is one of the greatest and most high energy tours you will ever see! The tour starts on July 10th! This song "You" also reminds me of a very inspirational story that I included in my new football book "Ready to Stand." Here is the story from my book:
Three "cool" football players walking home from school saw a "nerdy" kid named Chris walking with a ton of books. Another kid tripped Chris, causing him to fall and drop all of his books. Chris was so embarrassed and was crying. Two of the "cool" football players laughed and kept walking. But one of the three, the star quarterback, walked over, helped Chris up, and asked if he was alright. Despite getting dirty looks from the other two players, the quarterback still went to help Chris. The quarterback helped Chris carry his books home, and they became friendly toward each other throughout the next few years. They were not best friends, but the quarterback always went out of his way to ask Chris how he was doing every time he saw him. ​Years later, Chris became the valedictorian and had to give the speech at graduation. In the middle of the speech, he saw the quarterback in the audience and froze. He stopped speaking for a moment and pointed at the quarterback. ​"That man over there saved my life. Three years ago, my world had hit rock bottom. My parents were getting a divorce, I got a bad grade on a test, and I had absolutely no friends. Then I was tripped by a bully, fell, and dropped all my books. I was planning on going home to end my life, but when this star quarterback reached down and helped me up, it changed everything. He walked me home and became my friend. I thought if this famous guy could be nice to me, maybe there was some light at the end of the dark tunnel. He saved my life.
