Love your math videos, but here you dropped the ball. The exchange does not take the bid-ask spread, but just a small (0.001% or so) commission. What the buyer pays, the seller receives (minus the commissions). This vid describes a trader, not an exchange.

Someone acting as market-maker, which is not the exchange ... profits from the spread. The exchange profits from a very small fee (very small) every single time a contract trades hands. The exchange has nothing to do with the spread.

I think you mean market maker makes the 2 cent profit.
