If I were Olivia, I'd blocked my mother's calls and told my sister to take a hike. I wouldn't have put up with their harassment
In America, baby showers are held before the baby's birth, NOT after the baby's birth, especially six months after the baby's birth. Why doesn't Oliva just ghost her mom? New York City might be the city that never sleeps, but business meetings overnight are suspicious. If it were me, I would call a private investigator to investigate my husband, sister, and mom. I'd invite my friends to a baby shower.
Specially because Baby showers is to help the new mother with things she and the baby might need for the first year of life.
Some religions and ethnic groups feel a baby shower before the baby is born is bad luck. I’ve been to several of those.
I’ve also been to two baby showers after the baby was born because baby decided to arrive the night of the planned shower. One baby was a preemie born at 6 months. He was in the hospital for two and a half months. We had the shower a week before he came home.
The other shower was planned as a surprise for mama shower. It was her third child and the unexpected one later in life. She felt she was “too old” for a baby shower. The baby was only two weeks early. His older siblings babysat when we finally had the party part of the shower. Her husband knew the shower had been planned so he kept making excuses as to why they didn’t need to get a car seat and a few other items yet. He brought some wrapped gifts, things they needed right away, into the hospital for to open.
The grandmother looks pregnant, ugh! Babies grow up too fast for designer clothes, and they have accidents and food stains. Good sturdy, washable clothes are what they need.
Are the pictures relevant to the story, I thought they were just random, like the kittens or the fat man eating sloppily.
Why would OP ever forgive her sister? I don’t understand how familial betrayal, especially between sisters or brothers and when parents blatantly favor one child over another, could be forgiven so lightly? Also, why didn’t the father give child support or compensation to OP? That was mentioned but glossed over.
Mom in the pic looks about 5 mos gone as well!
The g-mom does look pregnant. I wish these stories were better. The sibling always has designer stuff, the mom always wants the engaged sibling to give their house and spouse or fiancé to the other sibling.
Has this been pushed instead of baptism? Should invite only people who might come to help or be really supportive.
That voice 😢
Listen at a higher playback speed and then the voice is a little different. Try 1.25 it might help.
