'Parallel rise of India & China represent a very unique problem', says EAM S. Jaishankar. This may be more accurate: "Slow rise of India & the fast-paced rising of China represent a very unique problem since both have almost equal populations." So what went wrong?

India has potential, but look at India's big challenges. 1. Dependence on oil. 2. Criminal politicians with rampant corruption- (30% with rape/murder type serious crimes, source ADR India).3. Infrastructure - A lot of recently built infrastructure collapsed as a result of the poor quality due to corruption. 4. Religious fundamentalism - for eg: Wants the port project in Iran, but also a strong ally of Israel. 5. Youth Unemployment doubled to 65.7% ( not a typo) per ILO. 5. There are some border challenges with China, but more than that, a separatist movement that was setled in Punjab, is now being revived by certain western powers. Solution - give up false pride and work with China to establish decent infra and open Chinese factories to employ Indian youth. Basically India comes across as a lot of talk on the economy, not much action.

You are wrong with a false perception of India.
China never employs the locals and never utilise local resources.
They use it for their own benifit rather development of infra.the past experience proved it across the world.
The corruption issues are not India specific it is more in China and other part of the world too.
Rape and other religious issues is comparatively low in India, having a enormous free press and media everything is open which is not the case with china or for that matter in western countries. We are not going to trust the Chinese any more because of their misbehaviour in the border with the policy of territorial intrusion and salami slicing policy

The main task of all Indian diplomats and politicians is to promote India as a superpower.
However, in the eyes of outsiders, India's main problem ten years later will be, how to deal with the embarrassing fact that the living standards of Indians are lower than those of sub-Saharan African countries.

Lol, 75 years. How do you gauge that? Considering there has never been a historically accurate method to guage competitive progress? GDP is the only measure along with its factors. Which is flawed as it is. The west use to bark to China 20 years ago like the Chinese bark to India today. Looks like the Chinese didn't really learn the important lesson.

@@GuzzarAwan the 20-30 year starting point does not necessarily equate to a china like quantity of developmental pace that its 20-30 year catch up period contained. most of india today looks like what many parts of japan, singapore, malaysia looked like 150 years ago, and what the usa looked like 200-250 years ago. mumbai is only very slightly begin to look like what new york looked like 1900-1920. china leaped in 30 years to catch up for 200 years of infrastructure development. if india and its apptitude can do the same, then you will be right, but if its track record is anything to go by, it will likely only develop @20-30 years worth of development over 20-30 years.

India needed to pursue the foreign policy of Congress and go on all out friendship with china to develop itself and increase regional connectivity at the speed of light. By now india would be well ahead of current state and the region would be thriving lead by China.

Careful steps in all matters will lead the country to wonderful progress. As the India Middle East Europe Economic Corridor gets back on track after Israel's war victory, the potential for the Indian economy will be enormous. The construction activities of highways, ports and airports in our country are going on at a fast pace to create a smooth environment for foreign investments. • @illuminatusdeus3051
      @illuminatusdeus3051 Місяць тому +12

Parallels are based on growth trajectory, population growth and others. These correlates are similar to what China likes to draw, with the US, whose per capita is 60000... and China is what 13K? If China refuses to draw parellels with India, due to about 4 times it's income, then for the US, it is almost 6 times...
Why then does China draw parallels with the US? It is a middle income country? Let's be a bit less hypocritical in our approach. China is closer to Russia on economic terms, but not so close to even the Russians on military terms. Please be less hypocritical and more insightful in this assessment on China.
I have a firm belief that Indians will catch up with China to match at least half that distance it currently enjoys, given that their eyes have been opened. The Chinese have, unfortunately, not quite waited and bade their time, they showed their teeth a bit too early. I have great doubts over future growth potential of this declining East Asian power that is China.

India's richest 1% of the population owns 40% of the country's wealth, and the richest 10% own 77%. Based on this, we can do a calculation using the total GDP to estimate income distribution.
India's total GDP for 2024 is $4 trillion, with the average income (GDP per capita) being $2857 per year.
Top 1 % own 40% of the wealth, that is $1.6 trillion, and shared by 14 million people, with income for them is $114,286 a year per person.
If 77% of the wealth goes to the top 10%, that amount is $4 trillion x 77% =$3.08 trillion, among it, $1.6 trillion is already taken by top 1%, so it is $3.08 trillion- $1.6 trillion= $1.48 trillion, shared by 9% of India population, to make it for this group to have $11746 per person per year.
The remaining $920 billion (23% of GDP) is shared by the rest of the population, which is 1.26 billion people (1.4 billion total population minus the 0.14 billion in the top 10%).
Now, dividing this $920 billion by 1.26 billion people gives $730 per year per person
Thus, the bottom 90% of India's population has an average income of about $730 per year, far lower than the national average GDP per capita of $2857. The real income for many would be even lower due to wealth concentration at the top.
From the calculation we know, for 90% of the Indian population, 1.26 billion people, the income is $2 a day.
The United Nations defines poverty as an income of less than $2 per day, and the international poverty line is set at $2.15 per day. so that 90% of the Indian population live under the UN poverty line on average, certainly among 90% some got higher income, some got much lower, this is just on average.

In addition I am sure whatever country you belong to rich owns most wealth that is the nature of capitalism and I am sure you are from a capitalist country if not bot.
In addition India has been amazing in eliminating multidimensional poverty and infrastructure development be it physical or digital infrastructure.
I am sure you have an agenda you have quoted lot of numbers too but I think you fail to bring the essence of India the kind of structural changes we have seen over next 10 years.
But any which way I am sure you are least concerned about India you just don’t want narrative to be won by India. If you can’t convince someone confuse them.
