I have done everything from setting up PC, LAN Administrator, Systems Engineer, Network Engineer, and programming. I have found out that the Job Description that HR writes rarely matches the real job. HR will ask for 10 years of experience in a field that just started 2 years ago.
Thanks for the info
Thank you for speaking my mind. HR merge various job roles into One and they ask for ridiculous years of experience. I doubt if organisation gets good quality in person these days..
Very Correct bro.
Black nerd here too!!! New sub, cloud solutions engineer. Love the channel
Video starts at 1:55
Thank you. 🤣
Not all capes wear hero's
A #cloudengineer is something that's not easily defined. However, I think you explained it more accurately than others.
Thank you my brotha 🙏🏾
Grinding to get into this industry, thanks for the knowledge!
So after watching this video I asked myself, so what does Cloud engineers do?
LOL...sounds like I need to make a "What does a cloud engineer REALLY do?" video
🤣🤣🤣
Lol
My thoughts exactly! He said so much without saying saying anything!
I’m out
Thanks Reggie! Would also be great to hear what your day-to-day is like (I know you cover a lot of that it your podcast too).
You got it! I'll definitely dig into this! Thanks for the idea!
@@OtherPeoplesComputer Thank you for the content bro. I’ve Been looking for this. I’m currently Studying for my SSA now.
I have no idea what they do
What training did you utilize to develop your cloud engineering skills? I was going to take a AWS solutions Architect - Associate course but from what I gather, that cert is more so for design aspects and actually face to face information gathering/modeling. Their function is not so much engineering the solution, that's more so a cloud engineers job instead of the architect, you can let me know if I'm wrong, my background is 10 + years Voice Engineering/Telecommunications and at least 18 years networking.. I'm just trying to see where should I focus my time in trying to learn cloud engineering
Learn IaC, like Terraform
My college offers this as a 2 year degree. I never looked into computers before and am very interested in looking into careers
Ya I’m in the same boat here loll.
@@rolffrancois7070 same here 2
Thanks for your info Reggie! I wonder how many hours a week on average do cloud engineers work? Do they often need to work overtime?
Good video!
I thought you was Chad Ochocinco at first
Going to go for Azure certifications thanks for the insight
Hey! Fellow black nerd 😂 Im a software engineer and I’m looking for something different, I appreciate the info!
Thanks for sharing this, it really helps.
Liked and subscribed!
Thank you for the support!
Well analyzed
Whats a good starting point that you'd recommended with someone who has no prior knowledge
I would check out the AWS Cloud practioner cert. You'll learn a lot of foundational knowledge about the cloud here. Then from here you can start focusing on what part of the cloud you want to put your energy into. Here's a link to the cert: aws.amazon.com/certification/certified-cloud-practitioner/
@@OtherPeoplesComputer thanks
Hi Reggie.
Why do you choose Cloud Engineering career over Software Engineering career?
Essentially be a software engineer if you want to create the program/software (ex: salesforce, Facebook, twitter, Windows 10) . Cloud engineer will help run and maintain the program/software in the "cloud" or servers within a business. This is very simplified but that's the gist to your question I'd say.
@@bans5 I agree with u. Software engineer is at the heart of the application.
3:00 - 4:20
Thanks 😂😂😂
Lol thanks.
My Job offered me two paths to go after, Cloud and Network engineer. I don't know which path to take.
Go cloud definitely
Cloud!
i thought cloud engineering was like an all rounder in the software field?
So after watching this video I still don't know what a cloud engineer Do
Hi! I Just got this job and I don't really have an Idea about it. what should I learn for starters?
Hey! I hope the job has been going well. But if you had to learn anything first I would learn a little about linux and a little about how your system is designed. Linux is going to help you navigate your environment but the system design knowledge will help you understand what services are most important to your company.
Hi, how advanced are you expected to be for an entry level job as a cloud support engineer? Are you expected to be a great coder, or have advanced networking tech knowledge?
A lot of jobs want you to have Network+ level knowledge of network especially well known ports and protocols, VPNs and VLANs, and the OSI model.
@@BrandenVD Thanks, Branden.
You said a whole lot without saying anything
i love your content bro
keep doing the great work

Do you even know what the cloud is?
Considering how well I do as a SRE, I think I know a little...lol
Accenture
is this a Junior Cloud Practitioner course something that one could take without any IT experience?
no you need IT it’s pretty much coding
THANK YOU EDUCATIVE CONTENT LOOKING TO MOVE FROM MEDIA TO INTO DEVOPS ENGINEERING WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT THIS TRANSITION?
I think it's a solid move. The learning curve may be a little high but I believe with a solid 4-6 months of study you'll at least have enough knowledge to be dangerous. I'm curious about what you did in media though because I bet there are some solid transferrable skills you can leverage to make your transition a lot easier.
@@OtherPeoplesComputer THANK YOU I AM A VIDEO EDITOR AT A TV STATION MEDIA IS ALL ABOUT PACKAGING PROGRAMS TO BE AIRED ON VARIOUS MEDIA PLATFORMS
Waste of data...u said a lot but in that actual sense said nothing...what does a cloud engineer do? Stop beating round the bush
