#traxxas #bandit #buggy
I have a Bandit that I bought 24 years ago. It originally had a mechanical ESC. It has a orange body with checker flags on the front of the body. I changed the esc back then to a electronic ESC. The body is alot more squarer than the new ones. I just pulled it back out. I ordered a 12t motor and newer brushed EDC for now. It originally came with a 20T Stinger motor. I put a 9T competition motor in it. I kept melting batteries left and right. Geezus!!!! It was crazy fast!!! Not geared right lol. I put it away right after that so I didn't fix it. I went Nitro so she was boxed up. It's time. She needs new electronics. Prob going with the Valenion VXL setup soon.
Love the bandit' I ended up using the green integy aluminum shock towers ' along with a matching integy bulkhead stiffened her up' it's a very UNDERRATED buggy. Enjoy the hidden gem brother definitely go brushless ' personally I do use the venelion system' people bash traxxxas. I have not been let down by traxxas in 20 plus years. Perhaps I am the only one but not even batteries have let me down' fastest name in radio control 😎
I can agree with you. Some breakages yes but always my fault. The Traxxas cars have been good for me also. I would like to buy a Bandit vxl the new edition body and tires looks good on it
This is a fun and educational series Joe! Thanks! :)
The Bandit, Rustler and Stampede are all great rc’s! There is a reason Traxxas has had these forever and do not change them except the body paint. They preform good and are very easy to work. You definitely need to keep it 2s and do a gearing change.
I converted my stock bandit to brushless. Using a hobbywing ezrun max10 and esc combo. 34tooth pinion. Absolutely rips!
I recently upgraded my bandit I have the vinelon system the lipo I'm running it on is ho vo 3s I totally agree with ya @gatorbeug8059 this lil guy flies & rips off the gord 🤘
IF u stay with the national 'guidelines' on 2wd, 2s is plenty. U can also use music/piano wire, using different thicknesses to completely adjust the wing.
10th scale 2wd is designed to separate the power drivers from the REAL drivers. It takes TALENT to be great in 2wd.
Stop lol. I agree can be more fun we always over powering which really is counterproductive ..
@@paulclancy2404
WHY overpower IF one can truly drive?🤷♂️ I've seen crappy drivers race 4wd, & place top 10. 2wd takes something most 'racers' don't have, talent.
Rpm parts are made out of very flexible plastic, you want to eliminate flex in the shock towers. That's why most race buggies use carbon shock tower, very little flex
This is true. However, stiffer parts are great for precision. Not bashing. Watching all that chassis slapping and crashing, CF shock towers may not last long.
Bandit was my first brushless rc they are fast 🏁🏎️
I did a full build (for fun) 2wd slash 7000kv on 2s is nuts. And very well tuned suspension. 👌
FUN that's what it's all about....we have lots of R/C's and have so much fun with the bandits stock to modified all so much fun..good times👍
Wow Phillips head screws on a traxxas? I didn’t know they still do that in 2022
Seems like only Phillips on the brushed xl-5 models. My woman recently bought her 3rd rc (2wd stampede) and it was the xl5 base model, which was also all Phillips head screws. As well as brass bushings.
Yeah it’s weird , I bought a brushed bandit that had it, and when I got the brushless bandit , it has hex hardware and adjustable camber , toe
3s dude, all the way. That was a fun run 👍
I'm always going to have a special place for 2wd buggies, nostalgia what can you do
Me too buddy
I just drilled holes down through the rear RPM shock mount. Then press the stock wing mount in it. worked perfectly.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING TY.
I'm using 2s with 28/76 gearing..... Works great. Tough and reliable. I did change to brushless
Hello my friend what you need is to drive with 2 hands that one hand driving is very on stabile because I know you can drive better than that get your camera mounted on your hat or on your chest somewhere you will have so much more fun iam surprised you did not do this sooner, well I pray you will fix this camera thingy soon. Thanks your friendly neighborhood Doorman william from NYC forgettaboutit 👊 😀
I recently added the velineon vxl system in my bandit I running it on 3s the lipo I'm using is the ho vo & let me clue ya this lil guy is like the tazzmainan devil it rips off the gord!!
a class of $200 ARRMA Typhon MEGA sounds like a blast !
Stock Drag Slash rear axles fit and are much more durable than the stock Bandit axles. These are lighter and cheaper than aftermarket products. As for the rear shocks, adding shims to the bottom shock mount is needed because the angle of the shock isn't right. You will need longer screws.
Looking good pal nice video
i say 2s and gear up the pinion a tooth or 2. 2s is lighter. plus if you know how much battery you need to finish a race you can run the smallest battery possible to lighten the rig up even more. lot of people racing with 5k or 6k packs adding a bunch of unneeded weight. yeah weight can mean more traction but weight also adds to breaking stuff more when you crash and not jumping as smooth. back when i raced i ran a 3500mah 2s lipo and still had 1/4 battery left end of race. i probably could have gotten by with a 3k pack.
Take oem shock tower , cut in half & screw top half with its wire holes on the RPM tower . Simple lol
The extreme heavy duty drive shafts from traxxas hold up to 3s reasonably well. There a little oversize and made from a dark grey plastic.
The Holmes TRAILMASTER 12T is made for this critter, if you wanna stay brushed.
I find the rustled front tower is braced at top and they work good and the bolt kit for the arms and hubs is a great thing also matel front arm brace save bulk head or go metal bulk head balance it out more also I put hobbywing 3300 and Max's 10 was great on it 2and 3s it was a set when I got it 3650 motor 60amp esc fit perfectly in and don't think it add much weight either if any and you'll be so happy with it not being over powered and it lasted on stock every thing till I pulled it for another car the vxl is just to much.
I run my stock bandit on brushless and 3s and it handles it fine
On 3s that motor will not last more than couple packs. That's a permanent magnet motor, that's why it doesn't rotate easily
Traxxas FTW! Like button engaged.
Bushings suck! It's about time Traxxas got rid of bushings and started giving each new vehicle a full set of bearings!
Looks like that wing is lifting the front while in the air. Also should be 2s to make it more a tuning thing rather raw power for the fun of racing.
I agree
Sean:👍👏👏👏👏👏
The Drag Slash uses the narrower rear swing arms as the Bandit. The 2WD Rustler & Slash use the same chassis pan, & longer swing arms
The 2wd Rustler and Slash don't use the same chassis
@@keaginm2791
Ok. You are correct. My mistake, but the rear shock tower & drive assembly are the same, which makes the shorter Bandit swing arms work for the Drag Slash setup.
Thanks for the correction.
the 3s is balancing the bandit
Dgi racing has 2 inch hex adapters for the dbxle 2.0.
Why would I need those?
Seems like you should have two classes, one brushed motor 2s and modified 3s.
We will make 2S work.
Upgrade the motor for a H.H 12t Brushed . You’ll feel a little throttle punch it’s got a Front bearing stronger magnets 🧲
3S and gear down, keep the motor cooler!
I'm putting my 90's Era Bandit back together. I want to keep it brushed, do you have any motor & esc upgrade recommendations? I'm thinking of something other than Traxxas electronics.
👍😁
You should do a VXL bandit class and you can only run 3s
This is why the 2wd traxxas cars are so steadfast
Doctor RCstein at work….
That's 100% not resistance in the bushings. Its the motor, you're pushing through the magnetic field of the permanent magnet in the motor 🤦♂️
👀👀
upgrade the bearing carriers for the front to aluminum. They are a pain to change and will keep breaking
Even if I keep it light?
@@ExocagedRC they dont weigh anything. Light crashes will break the plastic ones
What about typhon mega buggy. They are only like $190.
Exo will you be doing December drive all this year?
I don’t have the vacation time to do that. I might try to do something else though. Simple drive videos.
@@ExocagedRC Sounds good to me! I'll be watching either way
I put those axles in my bandit and every time I hit a decent jump they fall out of there cups!
These? So far so good with them on this one.
Hello you have to put a half inch of fuel tubing in the cups then your good it's great thanks your friendly neighborhood Doorman william from NYC forgettaboutit 👊 😀
I didn't think 3s was recommended for the brushed stock esc
It's not the stock esc, its an esc out of a TRX-4
take the bushing out of motor and put bearings in it $5 masive upgrade !
I thought full-bearing kits (and tie-rods) were legal in stock racing. That may be IFMAR or ROAR rules though.
i went full rpm on my slash 2wd lcg
put a 8t holmes on it lol
8t Crawlmaster? That is an awesome motor
@@ExocagedRC would be interesting to see lol
Is there a method to your madness or a madness to your methods?
I vote 2S
I don't like RPM parts. They are too soft. I put carbon fiber shock towers on my bandit. They're awesome. It handles so much better with the carbon fiber towers.
eco class needs to and all ways needs to be set buy price at new with receipts no proof equals dq no matter what . that way there are no gray area any where . it should be a learning to drive and maintain class . this way it can get new people into the sport wich is the entire reason for this class .
Background music is terrible.... distracting with all the techno voice in background lol
Sorry about that. Copywrite issues are horrible so I’m stuck with this
@@ExocagedRC I like it and it's not techno it's D~n~B Drum n Bass by Skrillex
3s all the way 🤟🤟🤟 its got to be edgy 😀
