I appreciate that you are considerate of the fact that you do not have the time for a dog. It's a big commitment. Many people dive in because of the attraction to a fantasy life, and then regret it, and then the animal suffers. Thank you for being so conscientious.

That was so unexpected! Aaron becoming more comfortable being included in the weekly updates and him answering or giving his opinions on guestions asked is a joy to watch. His eyes just light up when it comes to trees. He's done his homework in that area and grasses. An you can tell he notices things in the landscape that catches his eyes and knows how well they're doing. He likes red. So does my husband. A rooster red crepe myrtle I planted two years ago, he was just talking about this morning. And the red hibiscus, I have two of them. He talks about have I seen the blooms on them,as if he doesn't realize who does the work around here. 😂 He never says a word about much of anything else. My daisy Mae's were beautiful this year, my heritage pink rose has bloomed all spring thru summer, still blooming as my other roses are. He did make a comment on some coleus, I'm letting the flowers stay on since it's fall now. This year I had so many to come up voluntarily. They are just beautiful, an I transplanted some to pots that were small, just two weeks ago. They have filled the pot already. I think Laura is correct how red just draws the eyes away from everything else around it.

Oh my that’s my next big project. It’s like they were planted too close even when they were brand new plants, just a few inches apart. There’s a huge old rose of Sharon taller than my house, with something else that grows up one side of it. They look like the same plant. Then there’s a mulberry tree with it’s maybe two inch trunk touching concrete. With three or four other shrubs planted a couple inches behind. It becomes just a giant mass of unhappy plant in the summer. They were all left to their own devices and have huge trunks and branches. I have no idea how or if I’ll be able to pull it all up myself, even with my husband. Might have to hire help. But I’ll never understand what they were thinking when planting all that lol.

Laura put tape over the center water opening of each level when she was filling it with soil to avoid the soil from getting into that opening. Weaponization of weather is still ( for now) a conspiracy theory. Weather manipulation is readily admitted and publicized. Georgia sued Florida for moving a hurricane and causing it to landfall in Georgia. They lost because the judge said nobody could prove Florida could guide it precisely. This was quite a few years ago.

Totally relate to the native landscape being more green this year. I am in high desert too (Northeastern California), we typically have a nice green Spring with a brown summer, but not this year! It's really hard to find gardening channels that understand the high desert climate and I'm really glad I found your channel. I love your garden tours so more is better imo. I had a huge invasive weed issue on my little property (.6 acres) and I used cardboard and mulch in the worst areas to choke the weeds out and so far it's working great. I didn't want to use weed barrier in places I planned to plant up in the next year.

Dear Laura and Aaron, Thank you for all that you do and, most importantly, enjoying what you do. I watched this episode the day you released it but I have to say, at the mark of 0:08, when Aaron is once again messing with you in a hubby lovey-dovey way, reminded me of your older videos from 5 years ago. If you can take a clip from "winterizing greenhouse planting north pole" when Aaron is driving through the weeping willow tree just to mess with you 😅😅😅 was so funny. Just wanted to point out how fun it is to watch your old videos and also for inspiration. Happy 17 years of marriage. I gotta say, you have inspired us, both of you, to not give up on our visions. Love me some garden answer throwback videos. Should make these one of your episodes. It's so fun to watch May God continue to bless you as you bless others with your love of gardening and nature.

Hi Laura and Aaron, I know exactly what you are referring to in regard to the landscape in eastern Oregon. I lived in eastern Washington for 13 years and am very familiar with the views (or lack of). But, just loved the weather. Only 7 inches of rain or so a year and living 2 blocks from the Columbia river was great. Every time I would say I live in Washington state, someone would always say "Oh, doesn't it rain there a lot?" They all think of Seattle right away. Now back living in PA and love it here, too. Enjoy your channel and have learned so much from you guys. Keep up the excellent job.

If I don’t know that something potentially harmful is in an area that I want to work in ( or something that will scare the bejesus out of me ) I will take a broom with me and sweep or pound the area first in hopes that if anything is in there it moves on. Mostly areas with heavy weed pressure. P.S. I don’t harm the plants if that’s what I’m working in just gently move things around. It does work for me . I hate snakes, good snakes , bad snakes any kind of snakes ! I don’t kill them but I just don’t want them ANYWHERE near me. 🍁🍂🍁💚🙃

I love how real you are regarding putting your best forward, but it never feels fake. It would be fun to see a blooper video though. Just something quick/funsies. And I appreciate your honesty about the time commitment it would take for a dog. To do it right (for all involved) would take a serious amount of training and time.

The drone footage is so amazing. It captures the peacefulness and serenity of the gardens.
What if you did a full garden tour with only drone footage and music overlay? It would be as if we were walking the garden in person.
Let nature be the narrator of the tour. Ahhhh.....

I love hibiscus! I have several varieties. I have divided them and given half of the plant away! The root balls are huge and I literally had to saw it in half. I split 4 in the spring and all 8 halves bloomed this summer. After splitting they did come back smaller which is what I wanted.

Regarding the ditch daisies on the hills, we had the same thing happen here in Arizona on the side of I-17 at Sunset Point, this April 2023. It's called a "Super Bloom". We were amazed at how beautiful it was. People were pulling off the freeway to run into the fields and take photos. The flowers were taller than most of the folks that were in the fields! The Super Bloom even made the local news!

These highlight videos are probably my favorite of all you produce! 🙂 Regarding work on your house, just don't put off any maintenance on the outside of your house, painting, roof, etc. Although I guess rot isn't as much as issue where you guys live. You just never want the "outside" to make it past the barriers (paint, weatherproofing, etc) to impact the actual structure of your house. I'm sure you probably know that anyway. My dad was hit/miss about redecorating inside but he always made sure the outside paint and roof were doing their jobs. Cheers. 🙂

Your comment in regard to the 2 day tour was, “I don’t know how much you guys can stand.”
I personally would love to see a much more detailed and less rushed “to just get it done” approach.
Many times you have planted something that I would love to see it’s progress through the season (s) but rarely ever even see it again 🥲
So my vote is for a 5 day week long tour each season in all the different garden rooms the 2 of you have created.
Ps LOVING the drone footage on the highlights!

I used cardboard for weed suppression in my yard but it attracted ground termites. I live in central, eastern Florida. Just be aware of your area/climate before using certain things. Hubby & I bought a weed torch instead, so that’s been fun. 🔥

      @laraemitchell9064 11 місяців тому +4

Yes you are correct. We have to worry about termites where I live now in Oklahoma. I lived in Laura’s area for a big portion of my life and I never heard of anyone having a problem with termites.
