My favourite version: Dee Dee, Barry & The Movements (MPS 1968)
On the “whose version do you love best” - and a bit of a tangent, I’ve had Bob Andy’s Lay Lady Lay on repeat this week. Gets me right in the feels. And my fave cover of that classic Dylan track. Vibes for days. This select.. also choice. Great!!
Nice, I will have to seek it out. I like the Isley Brothers version also
That funk! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
My favorite version:
Joe Williams & Thad Jones!!!
(Them horns & piano!!!)
Mad Lads - get out my life woman.
Great drums
That piano at the beginning really reminds me of something...great record!
Smooth driving on lake shore drive in chicago in the summer time with the top down🫡😎
Been racking my brain on where I know that beat from, and it finally struck... Large Professor used it on Mad Skills 'Extra Abstract Skillz'. Phew, thats saved me some sleepless nights lol.. Love the snap in those drums.
I searched my library cuz the title rang a bell. I got Joe Williams and Solomon Burke versions. Burkes drums are hard also. Def hear the Kool G Rap in Williams version.
Thanks, always enjoy the record of the week!
Thanks!
My favorite version:
Joe Williams & Thad Jones
(Them horns & piano!!!)
🔥
I saw him do this live about ten years ago with Dr John on the piano. Head nod madness
My absolute favorite version is by Joe Williams - thanks to 'Ill Street Blues' of course. The drums, the piano, the vocals, just perfect. On a side note, versions by Solomon Burke, and Iron Butterfly amoungst others have some very tasty drums too.
ten years after has a nice version. a canadian break that has also been redone many times is anne murrays hand in the hand. i have maybe ten versions(?)
2:34 Haha, were is the second copy when you need it😂🔥
The John Schroeder Orchestra also does a version
Massive
❤ N O ❤🎵🎶🎵
Iron Butterfly
Dee Dee Barry & the Movements
Mad keys!!
I think the weird drum sounds are "Boo Bams"
wow I just googled that, I think you're right!
it's the only version i know
Q65's version maybe isn't my ABSOLUTE favorite (gotta go with Lee Dorsey), but it's a gritty early psych rock version.
We all appreciate you brother 🤝
Iron butterfly
Butterfield blues band east to west album!
It's nice but I much prefer the Joe Williams version 👍
Jimi Hendrix on the bootleg album "Homecoming"
Jerry Garcia Band has some great live versions:)❤(~);=}
Blastin the Suckaside Edit right now 🔥
Bill Cosby
