Nice job. Only question I have, what's to prevent water from entering the nest box from the gap you have from the spacers you used? If this coop is going to be covered, then I understand, but what if it isn't? I guess I would use a length of white pvc garage door seal over the gap to prevent water intrusion. Again, well done. 👍
I've only seen a few videos of you guy's channel and I really like it. I would love to see a full tutorial on a chicken coop building. Thanks and God bless!
Thank you! We did film our very fist coop we ever built and have a video here on youtube. It's called "We Built a Chicken Coop in 7 Days" or something like that.
Is that going to leak rain water in along the wall with that little space? Mine does and I am wondering how to avoid that this winter I don't want it wet in there again when the chickens are finally using it to lay their eggs in. The roof does not extend over that part. Oh I see now someone else asked about that
The over hang of the roof usually covers that, but if you wanted to, you can also add some caulking to that edge of the trim and keep water out for sure. We’ve never gotten water in our own nesting boxes
Hey, on mine, I have that piece of trim over the nesting box. Even if it’s just an 8th of an inch overhang, it should be able to have the rain roll off on top of the nesting box and slide down instead of in the coop. If you want to go the extra mile with it, you can also caulk the seam where the trim meets the wall and close any gap possible
The reason it doesn't squeak is because the wood is not touching the wood when it moves you're taking the friction out of it by giving it that little space

Learned a lot from this guy. Well done!
Awesome! I wouldn't have thought to make a video like this, but someone asked if I could do it. Hope it was of any help.
Love all the videos!! Great job Ricardo. Hello to Kelli ❤❤
Thank you sooo much for showing so clearly how to do this!!! ❤
I the past we have had water enter into the coop through the nesting box area. do you have this issue. We I've in a very windy area.
Ricardo good video !! Hope your not too impacted with that bad weather in California!! Tell Kellie she is missed!! Party when she gets back!!

Does it leak water into the nest boxes at the wall to lid connection? Seems like a sure leaker?

Caulking in the hinge joint crack?
Agree....doesn't make sense.

Nice build
What kind of trim do you use? I like the thinner trim vs the normal 1x2 trim boards
What about the rain running down behind the lid where the hindges are mounted
how do you keep rain water from going down the wall to the hinge corner?
Do you have any videos on the framing of the coop? Or a plan available for this coop? Thanks!
@bockbockbouquet I have same type nesting box that has started leaking water any ideas how to stop it before we get snow I want to address it.
Looks like several people asked about leaks/water but i don't see where you responded whether it actually let water in or not. That's too bad

Is it water tight ?
don't think so
