Everyone is missing the point of AFLX. It is not to be taken seriously and it is not primarily designed for you. With the bright colours, rock-paper-scissors, jack-in-the-pack behind the goals and bubbles floating over the field, it is so obviously made for kids. AFL is such a titan that the only other market they have left to target is the next generation. Not to mention that Gillon McLachlan said (something like) "...it's great to see all the kids enjoying themselves, which is who its for."
Hello first of all it was designed to be played overseas where big grounds arent available, now that the afl has realized most adults think its a joke,Gillan Mc lachlan now decides its for kids.It just proves once again that a high salary has nothing to do with intellegence!Aflx is straight out of disneyland and a gross waste of money. This is on top of their constant tinkering of the rules which is pissing everyone off! Gillan has a high opinion of himself,to the point where he reads out the brownlow votes, wtf?!!
Martin Vu Funny you should mention the irish ,because we have a similar concept to this not in gaelic football, but in hurling its called super 11s.Its a form of the game designed to be played abroad where the pitches are too small to accomodate a standard hurling pitch and where they are no H shaped posts.Hurling uses the same scoring system as gaelic meaning 3pts under the bar 1 point over the bar ,but this super 11s game is goals only which fundamentally changes the nature of the game . They play a tournament in the states every year in baseball stadiums in boston or new york ,its a complete waste of time money and energy. If you can't promote a game on its own merits you shouldn't bother .
See, I like the idea, and I loved watching the games earlier in the year. I’m a Carlton supporter, so rampage was my team with Cripps and Fisher on it. I wasn’t too interested in it, as I was just worried they were gonna injure themselves before the actual AFL season. I know a lot of clubs pulled some of their players out because of that.
as someone who went, almost no one was watching a game. no cheers when a goal was kicked, and the children were off participating in the ground-side activities. in front of me there was a guy riding a unicycle with kids chasing him, and i think there was a louder cheer when he almost ran a kid over than when there was a score in the actual games. plus, if you were sitting in the bottom tier, the reduced ground size and the ‘kids zone’ on the boundaries made it hard to see a lot of the action at all, even if you wanted to.
It’s designed for kids and isn’t meant to trespass on AFL market, does it really matter that the game is trash when most kids can’t keep their attention span on the game for that long on a regular game, I do admit I hate Aflx but I acknowledge that it’s a kids game and is VERY commercial
All of these adults don't like AFL X but the kids love it, there was a bunch of activities there and they got to see their favourite players. Stop being so critical and let them entertain the kids
This was cool. People will always hate what's new. People thought South Melbourne moving to Sydney was a disaster, that Friday night games were crazy, haters gonna hate.
Based from what I saw from this years AFLX, they were mostly trying to create a more family oriented competition, and in that department they certainly succeeded. Was I a fan? No, and I'm sure most hardcore footy fans weren't either, but i'm still ok with the concept because its targeting a particular market who seemed to respond well to it.
I think it would be better to start up a proper Asian Football League, have two or three teams in China, and teams in Vietnam, Singapore, Japan, Malaysia (8-10 teams)...that would be a great summer comp...the time zone is similar...and China is where it's all happening....get recently retired players to be involved in it as coaches and players, teams 50% local / 50% Australian to begin with.
The players won't be interested. They already have cushy jobs where they get paid an average of over 300k for a season that lasts half a year. Anything longer than a couple of weeks in late preseason is going to be met with resistance by the AFLPA.
As an American AFL fan, I hope they start playing the AFLx game (but with simpler rules, not the game-changer nonsense) in the United States, with some ESPN coverage. Then it highlights the exhibition game that it is, makes it a fun trip for the players, and slowly starts to introduce us ignorant Americans to the best sport in existence.
THE OPENING shows you just why this revised game didn't work . I do believe there is an opening for a revised Game, ever thought of this THREE Teams ( revised numbers) on the 1 Ground
This might sound a bit silly coming from a football fan ...But I had never heard of this game before 🤷♀️Apparantly been going for 2 years ....Never saw it on Tv 📺 or anything .....Had no idea this off season game even existed 😲🙎♀️😳😲🤷♀️
@@kerrbear5417 Yes I have come across quite a few people who had never heard or seen this AFLX Game before ......Apparantly was only shown on Foxtel .....Any wonder some people had never seen it ...Cos those people cant afford to have stupid Pay Tv 🤔😔
It makes me think of American Arena Football. That is not disparaging. If it were played the right way, I could see an American pro league of AFLX if the AFL were to really commit to it. Something like the AAL. For Australians, the NFL has started a spring league this year called the AAL. Games and highlights are on You Tube, if interested. If the AFL were to get USAFLX going, five East Coast Teams, Five West Coast teams. Six game regular season, playoff with the top two teams and a Grand Final. Get it on Root sports, do some marketing with Jerseys and T shirts. Run it from Jan-Mar. You would stir a lot of interest in the real thing. I am an American.
I personally liked last years rules better. The goal is to simplify the game, but this just made it more complicated. As an American, who is absolutely the target audience, what is the AFL trying to prove? It's almost mocking the game. Why do we need a "game changer?" Why a ten point "super goal?" If you want to make Aussie Rules appealing to Americans, here's what you need to do: PLAY IN AMERICA. The GAA has played hurling at Fenway Park three times and each had 20,000 people in the stands. Just make a 7-a-side version with the regular rules slightly modified to play on an American Football field and people will watch. They'll learn the rules through watching, not through dumbing them down.
Personally I don't mind it I watch it as I love footy.I can see it may have potential,I do understand at the end of the day peoples thoughts on it whether they like it or not I value everyone's opinions I guess :)

Yes exactly
IKR!! It's just the players getting together, playing for fun, not competitively and raising some money. I don't understand people's hate for it.

I’m annoyed it’s not on anymore
Because I got a front row seat for $15 and me 12 afl players and a few signatures, also an aflx ball
This will be remembered along with the Batmobile and Angry Anderson singing 'Bound for Glory'.

May as well give them a round ball and call in the Irish to join.

who is watching after finding out there will be no AFLX in 2020.
I was here yesterday and it was awesome to see it wasn’t absolutely terrible like everyone though I though it was pretty good
I think AFL should have AFLX as a Summer league like NBA Summer League. What you mob think?

I did not get how the super goals worked. they were kicking goals from like 5m out and they counted as 10. Had no clue how that worked
Hiiiii
if its kicked from 40+ out but marked inside 15 metres i believe it counts as a supergoal, hence 10 points
And the game changes whenever they kick it it counts as x2 points
Thank God this has been scrapped.
You guys did well flyers.
It was funny watching the commentators be confused about the rampages bull sign
We need AFLX just as a preseason joke
