I found this spalted, rotting chunk of wood at my parent’s house in Ohio and brought it home thinking, “who knows? Maybe I can do something interesting with it.” I had no idea it was cedar at the time, but as soon as I started cleaning it up, that smell was unmistakable.
Because it was pretty punky, I had to cast it in resin to harden it up, but the green ended up being a nice contrast to the red of the cedar wood. Using standard woodturning techniques, I was able to turn it round, then get it in the bowl for casting. It floated just a bit, but I was able to use my new CNC machine to carve out a place for the chuck at the right angle so it wasn’t tilted as I starting the woodturning process.

Wow, that turned out much better than I thought it wood. Cedar that is in that condition isn't even good for firewood so well done. Thanks for the videos. 😎

Thank you! Cheers!
Amazing piece. I wasn't sure about the color choice for the resin, but it was spot on.
Thank you! I was hoping I’d get some of the cedar red that would pair with the green and that ended up being a good bet
I’ve had two beach blanks what looked like that on blow up on me, they were in a chuck one was a tendon and the second was a spigot
that’s no fun!
That's a pretty bowl. I like that you core, will you be sharing with us when you use the second part?
Yes I will!
Très jolie bravo 👍👏
Merci!
The dark green resin was a good choice IMO. Was it easier to turn with the resin than a regular end grain turn?
it was noticeably easier
واقعا زیبا شد دمت گرم این کار فروشی هم هست
با تشکر از لطف شما و بله، برای فروش است.
You really need to add trigger warnings for resin / epoxy use, sped up footage and such so I cn avoid these videos.
Thanks for the tip
