Wow. Amazing song about a breakup. Brian's vocal is just dripping with passion and the song itself is so memorable. Gonna miss these guys now they're on break.
These dudes are great. The video is simple and cool. Get Hurt is a fantastic/meaningful album. The more I've listened the more it grows on me. That's what makes this band great.
Went to see The Gaslight Anthem last night at the Tivoli Theatre in Brisbane, Australia and they didn't play "Rollin & Tumblin" so disappointed as I love this song. Great Vocals, lyrics and Drums :)
Saw them in concert at The Mann music center in Philly, when they played this song they had lights set up behind them exactly like in the music video, it was so amazing and surreal at the same time, it could not have been more perfect.
I take it that not everybody likes contemporary dances in rock music videos, hahaha. Frankly, I actually love what TGA has done with their new album videos. Contemporary dances aren't meant to visually make sense. Rather, it's a way to channel out and express the emotions of the music. In this one, I take it that it's a representation of the singer's messed up feelings and emotions. The singer is metaphorically facing his own emotions (represented by the dancers facing the band) that are slowly creeping up on him. Also, the last few lines of the lyrics hinted at the singer's death ("When I hit the wall, wrecked from it all, you put flowers on the cold ground"). This could also be why the dancers have skeleton faces. The emotions eventually lead to death, or death catching up with him (the scene where the dancer looks at his face and sings the last line of the lyrics). Regardless, this is an awesome album :P
I don't think I'm goin' out anymore You better find some other body to comfort. When I was trembling baby you was a diamond, But you ain't a diamond no more. So what you wanna say is my head is a hurricane Well l-l-l-let me sleep on that, uh huh, alright. You say I'm hopelessly devoted to misery Well I don't wanna be so devoted no more, aw yeah And all of my friends wanna get into heaven And all I keep thinkin' is "I wish you were here" I heard that they been callin' me "The Great Depression" Rollin' and tumblin', breakin' my own heart again Shimmy shimmy shake baby right in my blood stream I don't know what it was that got in my room. My ticker-tape heart broke and everything shook in here But I learned it could be worse. So what you wanna say is my head is a weather-vane Spinning with the wind chime, right. Baby I was born on the fourth of July, Exploding like a firework, aw yeah And all of my friends wanna get into heaven And all I keep thinkin' is "I wish you were here" I heard that they been callin' me "The Great Depression" Rollin' and tumblin' And all of my friends wanna get into heaven And all I keep thinkin' is "I wish you were here" I heard that they been callin' me "The Great Depression" Rollin' and tumblin' So should I take everything, all your temporary medicines? Should I take your reds, your blues, and your cocaine? Should I take something to try on the weekend? Should I take anything, or did you mean everything? When I hit the wall, wrecked from it all You put flowers down on the cold ground And cry me a river And assure me I'm crazy While you question the answers And then you lean on my best friends Until you find better weather And you take a vacation I hope you got all my letters Signed "The Great Depression" Baby rollin' and tumblin
From the 4 songs I've heard this is shaping to be my favorite gaslight anthem (even better then the 59 sound). Hoping they do a first listen next week. Can't wait to buy on vinyl.
It's like they raided The Nationals closet, told the backing choir from dead mans bones to dance, and wrote a punk rock album. I like the suit vibe for this record.
i was a person like to travel around i travel all over the place in the world what i thought the world was i don't go nowhere but i just wanted to know when you travel and travel with your safeties love song be careful people they all love you
It is always the same when a band becomes successful, people can't wait to say something like 'theyre not as good as that iconic album they made x years ago that got me into them' or 'Ive been a fan since the beginning but I'll admit they've gone downhill since they went to a major label'. Just remember people slate Nickelback for not experimenting, so perhaps we should be grateful Fallon still wants to explore different sounds.
I think the dancing is pretty cool. Never felt like that before. But seriously should I buy it on vinyl or iTunes. The iTunes version has the bonus tracks too
I just realized that this song is a conglomerate of song references. I don't know them all, but I'm pretty sure it's all references. Says a lot about the influences of the artists.
As a long time Gaslight fan I will say that I love both Rollin and Tumblin' and Get Hurt they have both become two of my top ten TGA songs but with the music videos what is going on? For Get Hurt I was expecting a video more like Dave Hause's We Could be kings and for Rollin and Tumblin' I was expecting a cool video of the band rocking out some where. Instead we got weird trippy videos. For those TLDR Great songs but for the video I leave it in the worlds of Calculon "I'm not familiar with the type of thing I 'm seeing!"
I could b very wrong but maby they didn't have the budget to make another video like handwritten or the 59 sound, again, I could b wrong. Besides guys, it's the music that matters anyway!
I love the Gaslight anthem so much they're in my top 5 favourite bands, but listening to their new album im afraid that they are getting a bit slow with their music because thats not the gaslight anthem i fell in love with, while listening to the new album i can safely say that Rollin and tumblin is the best song on it
What's wrong with the video? I don't see why you want big storytelling videos all the time, personally I think they can get pretentious after a while. Big videos can sometimes divert attention from the actual song as well, which is the most important part isn't it?
This is easily one of my all time fave songs. The outro is just perfect
So underrated!!!
I was one of the skeleton dancers in this video! Incredible to see it all come together!
which one? ;-)
Who was the main skeleton dancer?
i saw them live!
+Kristin Taylor That's cool as hell. Congratulations!
You all did a great job! Really!!!!
that cheeky smile at 1:49 makes me melt!
I for one, don't even think it's possible for TGA to make a bad piece of music! Absolute genius as always!
I miss them. I got a tickets in Spring of 2011.
Please reunions.
Granted!
One of their best videos. Skeleton dancers are incredible!

1:26 "Right"
Incredible song from a criminally underrated album.
A) I love these new music videos and the dancers are awesome! B) 1:26 where Brian adjusts his tie and looks at the camera...j'adore.
This is another great song from a brilliant band. Pretty cool video. Can't wait for the new album now!
"I heard that they've been calling me the great depression / rollin' and tumblin', breaking my own heart again."
such a brilliant lyric.
really digging these songs so far, this album is shaping up to be a good one! then again what else would I expect from The Gaslight Anthem
This just makes my whole summer, just like. Handwritten made it in 2012 and American Slang in 2010... THANK YOU !!
So excited to hear the full album!
I can never remember the name of this song.
"What you wanna say is my head is a weather vane" sticks in my head.
I love it.
Get chills with every song
Went to see The Gaslight Anthem last night at the Tivoli Theatre in Brisbane, Australia and they didn't play "Rollin & Tumblin" so disappointed as I love this song. Great Vocals, lyrics and Drums :)
I saw them last night at Cardiff and they were just so, so great

1:26, that is all.
Right ;)

Gaslight Anthem one of the most underrated bands ever,.. they are amazing ,..
Yesssss!!!!so good!!! Much better than any song on the last album!
Brilliant song, love the whole album

This song is a FUCK YOU and those songs are always my favorite.
Great new sound!

You guys need to drop this album sooner!!
1:30 Exploded Like A Firework would be a cool name for a rock band.
It's like they raided The Nationals closet, told the backing choir from dead mans bones to dance, and wrote a punk rock album. I like the suit vibe for this record.
Great song
NÃO ME CANSO DE OUVIR GASLIGHT ANTHEM

This scene from 2:47 rules so hard!
So fucking excited to see these guys again in September, 3rd show and every time it gets better. Thank you for the music boys.
diamond!!
Ah yeahhhh!
1:26 I think I turned gay there for a second, jesus
haha!
That's a common reaction to Brian.
Right.
was that get hurt girl at the end?
Good eye! Yes it is
SALUDOS CABE
does anybody remember sink ro swim? that album inspired me to pick up a guitar and form a band.
Benny!!!!! Brian!.. Alex's!!!!!... Sure they forgot me .. But I never will forget u!..., 🎤🎸🎵🎧👂💞🎶🎹👏👏👼
why do they not play this live any more?
What kind of guitar is the one playing that higher, more distorted riff right before the chorus? How do you get that sound?
Booyah!!! Love it! =-)
Чем дальше, тем хуже.
Предыдущий сингл был весьма неплох, если ты о песнях... Это видео по мне не очень...
Is the woman at the end of this video the same one in the video for "Get Hurt"?
The best since Springsteen !
+Claire Monil Since God himself Lord Boss cast down his teachings Brian Fallon is the Messiah to take up the reigns
#stinsonout
what's with the interpretive dancers in the music videos? Not complaining, just speculating.
1:26
I could b very wrong but maby they didn't have the budget to make another video like handwritten or the 59 sound, again, I could b wrong. Besides guys, it's the music that matters anyway!
This song sounds like it could have been right next to We're Getting a Divorce on Sink or Swim...I love it.
dancers need a job to, killer band killer song killer album killer everything they have ever touched.....
Feels like Volbeat or some Fiddlers Green
I love the Gaslight anthem so much they're in my top 5 favourite bands, but listening to their new album im afraid that they are getting a bit slow with their music because thats not the gaslight anthem i fell in love with,
while listening to the new album i can safely say that Rollin and tumblin is the best song on it
This ain't no blues!!!!
Je partage la même opinion que Dominique Keller
Am I the only one whose favourite album was Handwritten?
Damnit thought I'd found another one of the blues standard.
the windchime bit ruined my life
This was not the song i was expecting... where the blues at?!
reminds me alot of Meatloaf way back when
What's wrong with the video? I don't see why you want big storytelling videos all the time, personally I think they can get pretentious after a while. Big videos can sometimes divert attention from the actual song as well, which is the most important part isn't it?
RIP GHTV Live.
I liked this video more than "Get Hurt"
Rollin' And Tumblin'???

hon the brian!
