I heard a while ago that the petrol hybrid might be here in 2025, but 'Chasing Cars' has since reported it is now not likely as its capabilities don't meet Australian requirements. I think the J250 retro style has cute retro appeal for some, that's okay, but I think the 150, in silver pearl, when freshly polished is a beautiful and purposeful looking vehicle from so many angles. And is aesthetically way beyond the older styling of the 250. And the anti tech' word you were looking for is 'Luddite'. And I'm with you on that point too!

Can’t get a better car than the Prado 120, far as I’m concerned I’m gunna keep mine going as long as I can: 550ks and still going strong, may look at hydrogen hybrid if and when it comes into play, that’s what I’m waiting for
The biggest difference is the suspension travel in the new prado as per my understanding it’s like 12 inch s compared to current 8 inches. So lifting not required new prado as it already got plenty travel.
The early tech on cars was sensational. Fuel inj, abs, airbags and cruise control. After that in my opinion its been a whole lot of added sophistication and cost for very small gains. I mean $250 for a parking sensor??? I can park without it but i cant drive with the freaking buzzer screaming at me all day long so i had to replace it. Lucky for me they are independent because the car has 8 of them. 🤬
Agreed - "Farkles" cost so much money - spots, bar, lifts, batteries, seat covers, radio plus great diesels well managed go for a long time. No reason to change until forced to. Also - small gripe - price lifts on most cars are out of kilter and getting to the point where it's just not worth it.
You will all change your minds in 2 years time, current prado is old and outdated by near every other 4WD type wagon. Toyota will drop to far away unless they bring something out like they have planned with the new gen Prado. I love my Toyotas, worked on and owned multiple. I couldnt help myself and ordered the new Prado. the Hybrid in the new Gen Prado is the 48v “mild hybrid” system that has been used for years It will still be completely mechanical based for engine and driveline. The new Gen Prado will be a massive upgrade from the current 150
The whole top models getting the bigger engines ie Ranger V6. With Work cars ruff models getting 2.0. Pisses me off. I do a lot of off road, on over grown track Gold Prospecting. I tour a caravan, but I am not going to buy a top of the range Ranger, for the motor I want, because it will get trashed. Hybrid cars its not explained how they work. What is the Electric doing. Love your no BS approach.

It’s a no from me too, I’ll put a new motor in my 2010 when it dies thanks, it’s got so many new parts and 30k worth of extras so it’s definitely a keeper
Yep 100 percent agree even the 120s personally are timeless they G.O.A.T of shapes cars...even if you rebuild 10 or 15 grand an maintain you got it for another 25 years
Yeah no thanks. I’ll stick with my 2006 VX 120. 260.000 klms no issues. Penrite oil do the filters and maintenance and it’ll go for years and years. I’ve replaced 2 front CVs. Comfortable quiet multiple airbags ABS downhill assist diff lock more than enough to keep me happy.
