I was one of those .63% who watched the series during the original run. Then during the re-run. I have even watched the entire series multiple times on UA-cam. Love the Sarabhai family. :)

Sarabhai is the Indian "friends" for me.I am not comparing the shows from script or concept point of view. But it is loved like FRIENDS after so many years.

Though Maya was shown to be mean, I loved the character. I love her disciplined way of life. Cleanliness and health. I do look upto her.
But, the real heroes like Himanshu, Kaccha Kela, Dushyant and the other producers, whom I don't know the real name of 🤣 also deserve the credit.

Vanisha Singh She is a class act.
Not only is she is a par excellent artiste, she nails the ugly creativity issues that they face perfectly! That's also another reason why I love her and Naseer; they call a spade, a spade! I can't wait to see her back as Maya Sarabhai; the best actor on the show closely followed by Roshesh aka Rajesh kumar.
I've worked with the Shah and designed costumes for their plays.. and they get it and give back so much as artists and inspirations and most importantly.. some hardcore perspective with substantial backing.

Ratna ji is 100% correct. Indian serials produce routine saas-bahu shit these days. I would love to see breaking bad, prison break, sherlock, person of interest etc type of serials in Indian television . I am dying to see sarabhai vs sarabhai season 2 . Great & honest interview. Have fun

4:55 RatnaJi, I am so sorry to know that. But mind you, I and my family watched the entire first season of Sarabhai during its first run, between 2004 and 2006. We loved it so much, and I looked so forward to it, and we hated the fact that it used to be telecast only on Monday at 8:30 pm on Star One. That was the only time slot in the week I used to look forward to (Instant Khichdi used to be telecast on Tuesday, and we watched that too).
I remember I used to go for science tuitions from a nearby tutor, and used to run home on Mondays so that I would not miss a single scene of Sarabhai. I was preparing for my first CBSE Board Exams in 2005-06, and I never ever skipped your show even during my pre-boards. I remember the show awkwardly ended in March 2006, during my board exams. I fared really badly in my Social Science exam, as I was gutted to know the show had ended.
I and my family have since watched all the episodes of the first season again, as well as watching the second season twice. There was a great connection between us and you, SatishJi, Sumeet, Rajesh and Roopa.
what an amazingly real and relatable this interview was !!!... it was like they're having a simple and an intellectual discussion ... she is so down to earth, real and relatable ! I wish to be like her one day so funny and witty at the same time !

I am totally amazed by Ratna Pathak Shah.. One of the fewest actresses on TV whom I truly admire.. Everything that she said, undoubtedly makes a lot of sense.. and now after 10 years of heartbreak I understood why Sarabhai vs Sarabhai had stopped..
She is absolutely right. Sarabhai vs Sarabhai is the ONLY comedy show on modern Indian TV that is well-made and has smart comedy. That show is legendary and comes in line with old classics like Dekh Bhai Dekh and Zabaan Sambhal Ke.

I have installed Hotstar only because of Saravai vs Saravai 1st season. I used to seen it daily before sleeping after a hard/tired day ,,,, that 69 episodes n the missing one episode I found on UA-cam ( Rosesh poetry award ) each n every character OMG it's perfect.
Sarabhai vs. Sarabhai was the only series i have watched after khichdi...all actors were so brilliant and the dialogues were clever

Good heavens!! This was so pleasing. Love the Sarabhais. While growing up we watched the reruns also as they wouldn't come up with season 2. They were still funny. I knew nothing of all that Ratna Pathak Mam said. How can people not see the potential in a cult and how sad it is that they don't get the money from it...
N *special mention to this anchor*. Who's this girl! Haven't seen someone being so natural and genuine and actually taking a conversation forward so well in years! Such a delight and a perfect rhythm. It seemed like they did it in one take.
Ratna is so right on the state of quality of Indian television. Reflecting back on the shows like Buniyaad, for eg., there was a vision to reality and story telling. We need that back in Indian television. There are mostly, only average soaps with average artistes. We need to boom the NSD actors back in real work.

Oh My God..... This was amazing. Made my entire day. It is so much fun to hear someone so intellectual, funny and a pro in their profession spill the beans. I love that she is so opinionated and not afraid to say it out loud. Specially about the shitty shows, about moms and so much more. I can praise her for the whole day. Again this was fun I wish you guys do this more with more such people....

Sarabhai V/S Sarabhai was and will always be among the favourite sitcom on television from star one days of I & my dad. I don't even have a count of how many times I've watched it on repeat both on TV and now on hotstar .
Every character holds such a special place cannot decide my favourite and each one was a master of their part as if the role was waiting for the respective actors for years .

I liked the video even before watching it, I was sure it's gonna be a good interview coz of Ratna ji.... ma'm I was surprised to know the show had such low TRPs, unbelievable. Coz my entire family used to wait eagerly to watch it n we would watch the re-run with equal enthusiasm too. Sad that people didn't get the humor back then.
