Hi there, so after I commented on one of your last videos where I was interested in the satnav and you didn't go much into detail about the Bluetooth I decided to try it out myself 😊 So bought a Garmin nuvi 760 which is discontinued but thru the free opensourcemaps for Garmin you can get a free routable map and update it. So bought a Bluetooth transmitter and connected it to the audio out of this model and the transmitter connected straight away to my helmet Bluetooth headset so now I'm able to get directions straight to my helmet which is what I was wanting to do without spending a fortune on a motorcycle satnav. The only trade off is that even though I can connect my phone thru Bluetooth to the satnav and make and receive calls that come to the headset thru the transmitter it disables my helmet mic and wants to use the microphone on the satnav which isn't ideal on rides coz of the wind but yet to test and try out n see how it performs. But the important thing is I'm getting directions thru this set up. The Garmin will not connect directly to my Bluetooth helmet headset for whatever reason. So for guys who want an inexpensive setup here it is, old tech with some new gadgets and not completely pointless. Cost me less than £50 to get it all set up as compared to £250-£300 for a new motorcycle satnav. Thanks for you video and your help 😊 Just wanted you to know I did it and tested it out too.
@@TECHNOLOGYTIPS101 The Bluetooth transmitter has an inbuilt battery, so charge the battery switch it on and pair to the helmet headset and then use a 3.5mm jack from transmitter to satnav audio out and it works. Hope this helps n makes some sense.
The tiny connector at the bottom of this GPS is a Mini USB port which is for updating the GPS firmware and maps. You do that by connecting it to your computer and running Garmin PC Applications such as Garmin Web Updater, or Garmin Express.
I know this is an old listing but I need your help again. You helped me get my Garmin 250W and 2597LMT in as-new working condition with battery replacements, memory card addition, and new maps from Garmin. I want to do the same with my Nuvi 750. I have replaced the battery, but with the unusual connector you demonstrate in this UA-cam, how do I connect it to the USB port on my computer so I can use Garmin's software and update my maps? I have a memory card installed now, I just don't see how to connect it?? Thank you for any help.
No problem, this is an easy one. In addition to the flat connector on the cradle, there is a Mini USB port at the bottom of the GPS which can be used to connect it to a computer.

Greetings, you need to use Garmin WebUpdater.exe to update the firmware and the rout calculation should work. For map updates use GarminMapupdate.exe and it will automatically do it.

Hi can someone please help me. I currently live in Australia and recently purchased a garmin nuvi 765 gps from USA. Unfortunately I don't know how to change it to the Australian maps. I've tried going into change country settings but unfortunately I can't get it to change to Australia. Can someone out there pls help me with this. Thx
Greetings, just changing the language settings and home country will not change the maps. You need to purchase the maps of Australia for your Garmin. The maps can be purchased from Garmin's Website, but they are not cheap. It will probably cost more then what you paid for the GPS. So your best option is to use a third-party opensource generic map, which is free. thank you
In many ways this is a better unit than the newer ones. For example third party map compatibility and worldwide map support is limited on the newer ones. Also the FM transmitter is not found on many cheaper new ones. If you want to have all the functionality of this unit on a brand new unit you will have to spend over $200. When this unit first came out it was not cheap, it was about $249.99. Also you don't have to spend $50, you can get a new battery and the new maps for $40 on this link below. Hi, you can restore the system files by using Garmin Web Updater, not Garmin Express. So go to the Garmin Website download page and download Garmin Web Updater.

Does it work If i can get the file system in and copy it to the device drive ? Do you have a copy or exe file ? 8-19-22 Mine won't do anything other than say GARMIN. it won't give a screen.
You need to reload the firmware using Garmin Web Updater. Not Garmin Express but web updater instead.
