At first I was like... wait, what crimes? This means that they knowingly put everyone on that ship in much more danger than was disclosed. Granted, I'm no legal scholar but I'm pretty sure there's some precedence for prosecution in such a situation.

Well, constructive criticism is: having a creepy concept doesnt make the story creepy or scary. What makes it creepy and scary is writing a lot of background information, developing characters, and not just having the plot "happen." Build suspense ans dont spoil the twist in the title. Story was: spoiler title, random MC gets access to top secret mission because leaked info, MC is accepted, we're at the anomaly, something immediately goes wrong, MC friend sends information across the galaxy to progress the plot because his friend "owes him to declasify secret info" (more leaks in top secret program), spoiler title is now revealed to no ones surprise because it was spoiled, miraculaous safe escape, lingering "maybe the thing survived" (despite its gargantuan size and it not even being clcose to the anomaly when it closed, "spooky right?" Well the things hitting the space craft would definitely give sounds through the spacecraft, as that is how vibrations work, big explosions in the distance though, not so much, unless the whole universe itself collapsing in on itself would mean that they are not in a void but in a cloud of very (relative) dense gas that have the property of actually being able to carry the vibrations to the ship.

It's not really about going there, it's basically because they wasn't supposed too. Um, a universe where everything is collapsing together? A universe like that would have all of its energy concentrated into one place. Meaning that, were it truly just a few months away from collapsing into itself, the temperature of space would actually be hotter than the surface of most stars.
How did they achieve faster than light travel to reach the edge of the Milky Way in less than a week? It just kind of….happened? And how the hell did the main character receive a video message in under a day from across the Milky Way ? This is some lazy writing. Does the author not understand how big the Milky Way is and how long it takes things like light and radio waves to travel across it?
