Hong Kong’s high-speed railway has just opened, but does it significantly reduce traveling time? We’re putting it to the test against five conventional ways of travel to find out.
Not fair. The first guy ran
U r everywhere 😂
YOUR EVERYWHERE,DUDE.
They all ran
Why didn't you do the cost comparison as well?
I don't think that's the point of the video. They are justifying the cost of the new railway project for fastest speed. But obviously its more comfortable and faster than a taxi. It also makes the roads less congested. So it's a win-win for everyone.
Coz they are Red China morning post nowadays lol
Time is Money. Don't you know? Some rich businessmen and old people cannot bear so long time in the trip.
The HSR is $244 and through train from hung hom is $210. Saving 30 mins for $34 is well worth it for anyone who has an hourly wage of more than $60
It's cheaper than taxi and airplane because you can fit more people on the train, and operational cost is less.
Amateur journalism. Poor editing. No map overlays. No price, time comparison. No meaningful conclusion. SCMP needs to hire better talents.
LOL
So how did Denise Tsang get there before everyone else? Jetpack?
She has a twin!
She took the high speed service
@pedro Kek :v
She learnt Instant Transmission from Goku
She arrived at the destination first.
In all honesty what video is this ? There is no price listed , exact time schedules, what a waste of video. This video is the least informative ...
She bought a teleport scroll , blink dagger and shadow bladed to her destination
@@travolasg321 too much dota...
Interesting to see that flying between Hong Kong and Guangzhou is still a fast and convenient option. I love to fly!
Great Content. However as a Guangzhou resident,I must point out the time of HSR journy COULD be reduced even further if she transit to Metro at Guangzhou South railway station instead of the Taxi, we all know how traffic can be during rush hours. Metro will take her to Taikoo Hui in 40 minutes without any delay,so she could arrive there at 10:13AM.
That's HK media style too... fake news
What about the wait for the train?
I can't wait to give the HS train a go, I live in the UK and have watched the building work and it's progress every time I've visited Hong Kong..
The distance between Hong Kong and Guangzhou is too short, only 140 kilometers, and the advantages of taking high-speed rail versus taking buses and taxis are not obvious. If it is between 300 kilometers and 500 kilometers, high-speed rail has greater advantages, the lowest cost, and easier time control. If the distance is more than 800 kilometers, the flight time will be shorter
Great job. Nice comparisons. Thank you!
Anyone else confused by this?
Yeah
How can the plane trip from Hong Kong to Guangzhou take 3 hours?
They have to get to the airport, then in Guangzhou they have to go to TaiKoo Hui, which is relatively far from the airport in Guangzhou.
2. airplane (danny lee): 3 hours, 43 minutes
3. through-train (kanis leung): 3 hours, 53 minutes
4.MTR-->shenzhen border; train (lok sum): 4 hours, 1 minute
5.. bus-->shenzhen; taxi (michelle wong): 4 hours, 45 minutes
6. bus (jane zhang): 5 hours, 5 minutes
1: hong kong high-speed railway: 3 hours, 28 minutes
Why didn't add the HSR as one of the contestants? Really dumb to see it separate.
Probably shot the race before the high-speed rail's opening.
Well why the hell you don't take the HSR as the participant of race ? Different hour, different dates, different traffic flow. For example of you take a trip on morning there will be more traffic than if you depart on noon. Because in the morning there are a lot of commuters.
Compared to National Network, if you just consider to save more time than by plane, high speed train to Beijing and Shanghai is not the best choice because Beijing is 2195km from HongKong and Train from Hong Kong to Shanghai cannot travel up to 300km but only around 200-250km/h. Because the track of Shanghai-Shenzhen Railway is only affordable for no more than 250km/h. But If you wanna go to some south provinces like Hu'nan or Hubei, their capital city Chang'sha and Wuhan, trust me high speed train is really comfortable. It can travel up to 350km/h.
I loved this video. This game was so cool. I wish there was something similar in the Mexico City metro area.
To anyone who hates high speed rail services, that’s their choice. Personally I love high speed rail. Better than flying on a plane unless you absolutely need to hurry
And you have to get to an airport in the first place and spend quite some time waiting to board the plane in it
I too also love High Speed Rail better than travelling by these crazy buses
Taikoo Hui ... just next to that is my office where I've been from Hong Kong so many times. Feels awesome to see those places
Thank you am jagan here from India planing to visit Hong Kong and China this video helps a lot to choose the right way traveling
Good PR, I still prefer teleportation.
Next time start from North New territory , may be Fo Tan or Tai Po , will the result change?
I live in New York. Unlike your usual readers, I'm not familiar with the Hong Kong area. A map would have helped, along with a written summary of travel times/costs/actual routes at the end.
But if you take the Guangzhou Metro Line 2 to Taikoohui (from GZ South Railway Station, the terminus of the new HSR) instead of the Guangzhou Taxi, the entire trip could be grounded to a halt. Guangzhou Metro during the rush hour is a nightmare.
How does Denise get there first? 🤔
Danny lee got first
Shenzhen to HK is really amazing. Kuala Lumpur to Singapore HSR completion is postponed to more or less ten years later...
more than what... lack of money?
I miss you hongkong before me working 7 years. I miss you hongkong
I normally take the intercity train to GUANGZHOU EAST RAIL. STATION and go take Line 1 to our house.
The woman waving the flag arrived first!
How did she travel there?
Why is Hong Kong so bright at 6.35am.
Price?
WAIT. HOW DID THE WOMAN WITH THE FLAG GET THERE FIRST?
What is the music in the Background?
Very interesting 😁😊
They should do all the options on public transport only. No taxis. HSR probably would not be 25 mins faster if they took the subway from Guangzhou South to Taikoo Hui.
This is like playing "The Amazing Race".
Plane would be much faster if it werent for waiting time on lobby, body checking, luggage checking, id card identification, cramped space inside the aircraft that force you to move very slowly, and the obligatory cellphone checking by the stewardess before taking off. For safety indeed. Cant say its not annoying though.
What? You have to get your phone checked when going to China? :o
Of course but in Europe you can use your phone, some airlines even provide wifi during the flight
John James I guarantee that not everyone turns their off and planes aren't crashing
The lady boss teleported!
These bats eating people are very smart
Danny Lee at 4:03 looks like a hologram/simulator cause he doesn't have a shadow
@Andres Leon u know what I mean like he looks from a video game
*If you took America's Amtrak, you would still be going on 10 hours to get to the half-way point!*
if you consider that the train speed is only 200km/h, i guess the HSR still has space to improve the time cost.
If you wanna go to Tianhe District of Guangzhou, arriving in Guangzhou East Railway is the best choice. I tell you that the distance for East Station to South Station is 28km. But when you arrive at East Station, you can walk to the Taikoo Hui and Tianhe CBD. But if you head to West Guangzhou like Haizhu District and Fangcun District, South Station is the best choice.
I always go to GZ by train... it’s annoying because I have to wiat in crowded and dirty areas
The thing is some people ran if you origanally just went you would walk and take it easy but but it's a challenge so they ran so idk what's your opinions on this???
Danny Lee’s eyebrows are
I guarantee there's at least 20 mins of delay due to the morning rush hour in Guangzhou for those who took taxi
Is high speed train part of CPEC.
Infraestrutura das grandes cidades chinesas é a melhor do mundo!
maps, areial image ,distance?
Who in the world takes a taxi from hk/sz to GZ?
At singapore al buses come in an average of 30min
Why the old lady at the beginning can wait her colleagues on the terminal stop?????
It’s interesting how SCMP was unlocked in china after jack ma brought the company.
It's ridiculous, you should choose a group of destinations and then do the comparison. Maybe Guizhou, Guangxi, Beijing.....
1:14 aye my school bus :D
I want to know how that lady who greeted them in Guangzhou got there because whatever way she got there is the fastest
0:51 dood look at how smol thoze gurls are 🤣
You know what's the core problem?? That's Guangzhou South Railway Station is pretty far away from Guangzhou Downtown. I heard that Guangzhou government has made a plan that they will re-construct Guangzhou Railway station to make all the HK people can go straight into Guangzhou Downtown/
No - they built that station in the South because that's where they want development to move to.
They're solving congestion by distributing the development away from downtown
I understand that life is hard for you ppl .... I am from Jharkhand - life kind of sucks here because of lack of drinking water, food, electricity, good shelter, medicines etc .... Eventually everyone dieos .... BUT IN NO FUCKING WAY ANYONE TRAVRLS FOR 3 HRS IN A DAY .... May God have mercy on you guys
Let us caaaall Shinkansen
I’d expect Dan to run to the immigration desk, look at his arms!
Take out the taxis! What common folk is taking the taxi? Do you know how much it cost to take taxi from Guangzhou South to TaiKooHui?! The common folk will not take taxi, they will take Line 1, switch to Line 2.
ABCantonese so damn true
Went on this last year it's only ok faster but more expensive
If crossing the border from Hong Kong to Guangzhou, airplane is the quickest till you have to wait a very long line through immigration
Well this means it is possible to live in China and work in Hong Kong, shouldn't this help in solving the terrible 'shoebox' housing problems in Hong Kong? why are many people in Hong Kong not taking advantage of this? idk.
👌🆒🎂🎄👫🏩Good Luck . God bless us all !
I have a toy version of that high speed train
1:18 Are those GoPro knockoffs?
Why Denise tseng faster than all people be arrival ?
she take helicopter
Danny Lee is awesome
I go to that mall all the time
Ferry from hongkong airport to Pazhou is the easiest way to reach
This dude is drinking champagne at 7 am lol
That dude is from the US. He's just getting the Jet Lag.
I think he’s British citizens look the passport
First class ticket, don't waste it.
部车beautiful
Hey no running to be fair!
Not much difference in time, let's call it COMPARATIVELY HIGH SPEED TRAIN! 😊
The main reason is that the distance is too short. It only takes 18 minutes to get to Shenzhen by high-speed rail, and it only takes 46 minutes to get to Guangzhou. If the distance is 300-500 kilometers, the advantages of high-speed rail are obvious.
3:30 by HSR, 3:43 by Airplane. You save 13 minutes. Hahaha
Actually the girl seen is in a through train
Guangzhou should not be the only place to compare...
I hope nothing went Wong with their journey
Wow. That is disappointing. I thought the difference would be at least 1 hour.
frdrcklim GZ and HK are too close
We want safety first.
We all know that air travel is the fastest way to go A-B
What a confusing mess of a video.....almost unable to follow what was going on.
I like the red
I don't get one thing.. HK people get along very well with Canton people but hates mainland Chinese... But isn't Canton part of Mainland??
Terrible editing and really ineffective comparison.
1:53 no respect, no smile, nothing.. just a shrug and "go in"
No cost comparison? Please list all the prices and times. Otherwise this video is a waste of time.
Hong Kong High-speed railway service has been suspended for almost 3 years, will it be resumed in 2023? no one knows.
great
If you are not also factoring in the cost (not mentioned at all in the video), you are just comparing apples to oranges.
I love Guangzhou city....Miss You China....Xie Xie ni.....
Ini baru y
Some hk people’s vision are so shallow that they only keep comparing speed/cost of take a train from hk to Shenzhen north or Guangzhou south stn. The hsr provide a link to massive bullet train network in mainland which is what matters. They keep thinking less people will take train to mainland but they haven’t factor in the tourist coming from mainland by train. That will be a boost the economy and tourism in hk.
we don't want you. We value Sri Lankans a lot more than you.
To many hkers, HK is the world, GZ is china and japan is their homeland
And so Hong Kong people have no baby formula?
eh, it's not a lot faster, it's just more convenient.
Qn is how dafaq did the first lady get there before all of them ......
Jesus, why you guys made the girls take the buses where the guys took plane & trains.
すごいね。これから高速汽車で中国大陸のあちこちに旅行するのができます。それはいつも僕の夢です。四日間の休暇でもKunming に行けます。
Hong Kong is like japan
