LASIK Surgery - What Are Refractive Errors? | Refractive Eye Surgery

Dr. Vinay Garodia from Synergy Eye Care explains about Refractive Errors and Laser Eye Surgery. There are three types of refractive error, Myopia or minus power, Hypermetropia or plus power, Astigmatism or cylindrical power.
The most common way to correct these is by glasses or spectacles. The other option is contact lens, which is cosmetically better, but it requires thorough maintenance and hygiene.
One option to permanently remove the glasses is by doing laser surgeries like LASIK, PRK or SMILE. LASIK involves raising a very thin corneal flap with the help of either a special Femto Laser or a special automated blade. After this, the corneal surface is modified using a very precise Excimer Laser. The LASIK surgery is very advanced procedure, which takes approximately ten minutes and is painless and does not require any injection. After the procedure, the patient can go back home after 20 to 30 minutes.
Refractive surgeries are suitable only for patients above 18 years of age with a stable power. Before surgery, certain tests are carried out to make sure the patient is suitable for the surgery.
In case the patient is not suitable for LASIK, other options, like ICL surgery or a Phakic Surgery with IOL may be offered. Sir it has been 3 months of my Lasik , but left eye is still blurry , -0.25 , will it improve 😓

Did it improve. I did it in August 2022 but still my eyesight is blurry. I checked recently, and my one eye is -0.50 and other -0.75. I feel like I have been cheated. My hard earned money has been lost.

@@shravanraj3108 not really, but I find it little difficult to see distant things clearly in the dark, mostly in early morning and evening. During the day time it's all fine and clear. But since my vision is not like how it was for 4-5 months post Lasik, crisp and clear, i feel like cheated. Please be prepared for any regression after Lasik in case it happens.
