he is a wise man he showed me the right path as an orthodox christian and thank god i have found a nice orthodox woman and i'am married now, we have two children and i have never been more happier.
wow.. at around 20:45, He still loves us but the soul is being suffered and starved! if we keep cutting the feed, the soul dies! I always tell my Sunday school children that our constant prayers and reading the holy Bible actually nourish the soul. I also tell them that it is not fair just to feed the body and neglect the needs of the soul.
To be Ethiopian is not a special privilege, always remember that you are first a Christian and then a human, and then you're a person that God created and love you then God gave you a temporary place in the world like Ethiopia to live as a Christian. (I say this with all the love and respect I can express toward you)
@@Football0Lover You do not know what you are talking abaout. God bless you. To judge who is Christian or not even the church Fathers do not dare to say something. Humility is the base of christianity.
Efharisto Poli, Thank you so much for this wonderful video. So many lessons & perspectives on living an Orthodox life. I've been studying Orthodoxy for 25 years and am so Blessed to have an amazing Priest, Presvytera & teachers. Efharisto Poli, Father John, I am humbled and Blessed to have found another teacher in you. 'Looking forward to more. ❤️
God made us and the entire "cosmos" good and pure. It is the fall that has corrupted creation as made by God. It is when we love the corrupted flesh more than the purity of the Spirit within us that we are cut off from God. Praise the Lord! He is Risen!
God bless you Father John for sharing this treasure of True Faith with people. Even though I was born in Serbian Orthodox family it took me many years to understand and fully accept that given treasure. Reading and deeply thinking about actions our ancestor took in difficult times helped great deal.
Dear Father, please on subtitles for all languages! JESUS wanted you to reach all nations not only you selected. Wishing to see the language of 7 churches right now. Blessings.
This was an interesting lecture. I know one of the deacons at his church. I will most likely go Antiochian or OCA. But, I do appreciate the wisdom from ROCOR and the other jurisdictions.
confession is more "counseling" - if we confess the same sin over again many times, the counselor-priest will say "there's something going on causing this". The purpose of our life in Christ is to be healed - the church is a spiritual hospital. Finding a good spiritual father is very important - monasteries are by far the best place to find one. God grant us His Holy Spirit's guidance to a spiritual healer who can help us avoid the snares of Satan! With prayer of His mother and ours!
Those are icons, they are used extensively in the Orthodox Churches and in some of the Catholic sui juris Churches. Also some western Catholics such as myself make use of them as well. Those who are Orthodox like many of the posters here could tell you far more about the Orthodox Churches. I have tried to explain some of the basics of their traditions in the past to you but as I am not a cradle Orthodox but only married to one my explanations will only scratch the surface.
Can someone help me find the reference father made to a quote from one of the fathers about the world being like a tumbler? It's at 27:07. I can't find it anywhere. Thanks.
An interesting viewpoint on Life. Hi sure said something about people what they show of themself as nice but a diffrent mind in themself. so the true meaning are to find god in heart to find joy.
The Orthodox Church believes that it is the "Fullness" of truth, this does not discount the truth which exists in varying degrees with other forms of Christianity and extends outside of Christianity to the Old Covenant. Roman Catholicism, from the Eastern Orthodox perspective, has the most significant level of "nearness" to that "fullness." However, we do believe ourselves to be the true church created by Christ in the upper room, else we would be professing a faith we thought second rate.
I'm fairly certain the body of Christ was birthed at birth, OK just being dense. I agree with what you say, all of these have impacted the structure and trappings of the Orthodox Church. However, the fundamental Liturgical nature of the Orthodox Church (particularly the Liturgy of the faithful) is exactly what Christ created in the upper room. I believe that "The Inner Kingdom" by Bsp. Kallistos Ware will help anyone attempting understanding the orthodox perspective on "Fullness of Truth."
coptic orthodoc christian here what about the bisexual or gay life style iwas watching this because i had hoped u would get into that as well i like the way u look at it's what makes my faith worth living for every sunday but i have that problem talk about it ike that please
Absolutely, unfortunately the poster I am replying to makes a habit of posting to Catholic videos and calling Catholics idolaters and telling us we should have our kids taken away from us for allowing them to attend Catholic functions. I see he has has now chosen to start insulting the Orthodox, despite lacking any essential knowledge about them. As I am married to a member of the Russian Orthodox Church I find his insults directed at both Churches highly annoying and malicious.
Why would God institute a system where one man has to hear countless sins from other people? It seems cruel and unfair to the priest. I think on that basis St. John Chrysostom said most bishops will not be saved, because of the temptations from hearing confessions. And why is it mandatory to confess to a priest today, but it wasn't in the ancient Church? Did God change the rules or his mind?
No, my friend it is very very very important to confess. Confession, repentance, Holy communion and fasting are mandatory to live a life for God and with those ways more come in including completely renouncing this world and that is was Priests, Bishops and monks do. They renounce the world to serve and live for God and prayer for forgiveness is I think what you are talking about at that should be a daily thing. Have a blessed day:)
Do not have an answer, but was wondering as I read this comment, is this a worldly or spiritual question? I suppose in Jesus day, the men did wear beards? Quite natural perhaps? Hopefully, it gets answered, as do not quite know how I could ask my spiritual father, being female? Good sincere question though am sure. One people would or should ask.
The priest must keep careless ones from communing the Cup with those who are repentant (read I Cor 11:19ff) When Christ is my Savior, HE is the one forgiving..always. The priest/monastic helps me avoid a besetting sin - therefore, he must be filled with the Holy Spirit (not a "degree" etc). St. Symeon the new theologian tells us that no one should have care of a soul without the experience of the Holy Spirit baptism. Let us ask Him Jesus to "baptize us in the Holy Spirit" and with faith, wait!
I still don't understand why God would institute a system where a man has to hear such horrible things from people. And what if there is no good counselor-father? Why should we have to suffer because of the lack of a good priest? And how can the counselor, as you termed him, guide us when he is most likely is not even trained in psychology and counseling?
The first millennium of Christianity was what we now call Roman Catholicism in the West and Eastern Orthodoxy in the East. The Roman Catholic Church was one in the West for about 500 years before the Protestant Reformation, and there were valid reasons why they split from Rome. Historical Christianity has always involved liturgy, honor for the Virgin Mary through whom Jesus was fully human as well as fully God. No historical church, no New Testament, no Christianity period.
for you it was necessary to be a priest to be saved, but not necessary for them - in other words God called you to this, and to be saved from being out of His will you had to become a priest?
Don't feel condemned by frustration: monks at Mt. Athos get some air return to the service. Parish priest as confessor: not always wise in my experience to confess to one's parish priest... they do not have the time (not all obviously) to pray deeply! Parish priests will be tempted ( OR the person imagines)to think of the person's sins when looking at the person. BTW, Greek Orth. only give older and experienced priestss the title/ability to handle the souls in their parish.
Jesus did not created the Orthodox Church in all of its varying cultural hues in the upper room. The Body of Christ was birthed in the upper room. We were first called "Christians in Antioch. We see the initial development of the Church in Acts. Definition of the word "orthodox": Adhere to the Christian faith as expressed in the early Christian ecumenical creeds. The Orthodox Church holds fast to the rulings of the first (7) ecumenical councils.
So men are here to serve women but women are not meant to serve men?Wouldn’t the attitude of mutual servitude under Christ be more balanced and scriptural? I’m afraid you may be hostage to modern political correctness.
Ba da, și ele trebuie sa servească, se înțelege de la sine, dar părintele vroia sa pună accentul pe noi bărbații pentru că daca noi suntem smeriți se vor smerii și ele
I don't understand how women's birthright is to be with a Knight that slays dragons, but when we ask for a woman that cooks and cleans and cares for the home and children, that's too much? What the hell?
Isn't it so nice that God will only save Eastern Orthodox, and the Orthodox will be the only ones in heaven, since the Orthodox are the only ones who know anything about God, Christ, the Holy Spirit and the Kingdom of God. Everyone else who follows Christ is really a 2nd class believer, who really does not know truth. Well, at least that is what the Eastern Orthodox would have you believe. So sad. These kinds of attitudes will always keep the Body of Christ from becoming unified.
he is a wise man he showed me the right path as an orthodox christian and thank god i have found a nice orthodox woman and i'am married now, we have two children and i have never been more happier.
“I go to be saved.” That is what I want to lovingly and patiently get through to my kids. I must show them.
Thank you Fr. John Moses for these practical words.
Nine thumbs down?
They are the ones who need this talk the most.
Great talk for teens, and the older like me.

Ethiopians are not Orthodox, since their Church has rejected the Council of Chalcedonia

Wonderful! Greetings from Greece.

Very helpful, practicle advice for young and old alike- wish I had it 30 years ago

life is only a battle if you have no grace. Grace and balance makes like effortless. The war with the enemy is self created.
Amen and thank you sooo... much
Amazing! Just amazing! ❤
I do believe in confession. I just didn't fully understand it.
Also the Anaphora Prayers can be referenced.
Amin

soulspiner god forbade same gender marriage and sexual orientation. even between a man and a woman before they were married
Thanks.
Is that you in the picture?! 😯
Who is the other priest in the room? His voice sounds very familiar but I never caught the name.

Is this discussion available in print?
You have to pray God & Jesus Christ, there is nothing wrong having images, icons and statue as long as you pray Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.

shaving beard is a western culture.
It has essentially to do with not pursuing physical vanity
Is not a rule!

Kelley “orthodox” means “true”
Oh well. You have it now :)
That is really bad, we should work together, we are all christians and have the same God, I am for ecuminism.

Kelley my sister that is not true as I am Coptic orthodox and they believe that all people that are faithful to god
Hiwet Tekele no we don’t. Nobody outside the church really knows God
I see you are going by another name now. Typical for deception. Lord have mercy.
