Calvin, I can only assume prior to sale. You have a mechanic look over these cars, as this 'brief' look prior to test-drive is well... whilst accurately described as 'brief'. There's not much in the way of checking crucial stuff around the engine, in terms of potential faults etc.

On the part, you said about swapping car parts with other manufacturers, the z4 and Toyota supra are basically the same car, but that was a special deal between them, and ineos grenadier uses bmw 3 litre engines, but why wouldnt they, shch a strong engine.
Yes bmw are good but personally i think Mercedes are a much better car just purely the fact they have a flat bottom steering wheel dont understand why bmw dont ??

Calvin isn’t the turbo ment to whistle? All the performance diesels I’ve owned have a whistle when under full load and I’ve never had any problems! Was I lucky or did you mean something else?
Yeah it’s plagued them for the last 8 years or so. Interiors are shocking. Even the more modern cars that look really nice like the previous gen E class. Shocking

@Unknown_00048 I’ve racked up over 200,000 breakdown free miles across 3 different second hand Beemers in the last 12 years (x2 F30’s and one E82 all diesel). Other than usual wear and tear I’ve had some cracked alloys, a seat tilt lever my child ripped off and a blocked EGR cooler because my other half drives hers like Miss Daisy. Reliability has been spot on 👌🏼
@Unknown_00048 not quite right they developed a 1.4l and a 1.6l engine together which is in the 1 and 3 series and the mini I believe but its not a peugeot/citroen engine because it’s been developed together with BMW 👍

I agree with you about BMWs. Like I’ve always said if you buy a BMW you’re buying a BMW. If you buy a Mercedes you’re buying a Renault.
That only applies to some mercs though mostly diesels.

Well they did say they use their company work van(s) majority of the time. The BMW is for like weekends out and wants to go somewhere. Saves money.
A way to test if box is good is to do a launch . And it will refuse to do it if issue with box

A45 is a fantastic car they are a great fun car with a lot of power 👍

The A45, when cold may crunch when putting it into reverse on startup
If it does (common issue) merc want about 8k for a gearbox rebuild

BMWs have great quality interiors. Mercedes quality has declined unless you get an s class. Audi is okay to be fair.
Mercs look nice but the leather wears really badly.

Mercedes look better, especially the latest ones, but the quality is no where near.
