Brilliant, thanks for watching - I really appreciate it. Funny, your comment came in while I was watching you drill that long hole. 😃 Cheers!

I see a left handed boring bar in your future.

Funny you should say that - I started off just trying to use what I had, but in the end I just bought some left hand tools and that really made a difference. Those will be shown in the next part of the series.

@@StuartsShed I imagine you got less flex with the lathe turning forward and the tool pressure is coming down.

You're 100% right Tom. As I watched the process it eventually dawned on me - far too slowly - that going in reverse with the tool at the limits of its reach - the machine was just separating the slides and saddle at every cut. I got a huge benefit as soon as I turned the right way. I thought I was being resourceful using what I had on hand - but not so much. Learned a lot though, and got through it. Got some good footage of proper chips for the next installment.

Stuart, VERY LOW Volume on this video. With my computer at max volume iI could barely hear you. Is this your new microphone ? Regards from Australia.

Dave thanks much for that - it’s a result of trying to get things set up with my new software. Based on that I’ll adjust accordingly - thank you for the honest feedback. It’s tricky getting the machining sounds low enough to not be annoying, while keeping speech audible. But I’ll sort it!

@@StuartsShed you could record the sound with your camera Mike, then do a voice over when you edit. That will give you the chance to get the voice and machinery balanced to your liking. Good luck with it. Regards from Australia.

Excellent idea Dave. I'll keep working on it - I think the next video will be much better.
