For anyone who complains about Wandering Oaken's Sliding Sleighs, just remember that theme parks need more than just E-Ticket attractions. They also need smaller, highly-themed C- and D- Ticket attractions to fill time and absorb capacity. It's great to see Arendelle opon with not one, but three attractions.
But that's exactly the problem with Wandering Oakens - the layout is far too short to have good capacity. I think it's great to have a coaster ride with minimum thrill since space mountain is too scary for younger kids and this ride can be a stepping stone to that, but parks like Disney should not really adding anything with low capacity whatsoever. Luckily, this is at Hong Kong which sees drastically low attendance and is known for their short wait times. But if you cloned this ride in Magic Kingdom or Disneyland (or God forbid Tokyo), it'd have a guaranteed 3 hour wait daily.
@@chronomatt6990 I didn't say the complaints weren't valid; I just pointed out that if Disney only made E-ticket attractions, we'd never have gotten Playhouse in the Woods or Sliding Sleighs.
@@kentslocum of course not every attraction needs to be an E ticket. Many of my favorites are not. But the ride time is shorter than most flat rides and it has extremely low capacity which will be a major problem if they decide to build it at another park
Hong Kong Disneyland has a humbleness and sincerity that I don't think the many other Disney parks still have or even ever had. Every experience, ride, and interaction there (maybe except for Stark Expo) felt truly genuine. It also remained extremely accessible once you are there, easily doable in one day, and a great destination for a weekend on-a-whim visit that still guarantee you unique experiences and unforgettable memories. Maybe it's the nostalgia talking, but I personally would rank it at #1 on my international Disney resort list, topping TDR (the parks are great but SO inaccessible and has become a chore), edging Paris (Walt Disney Studios really dragged it down), and trumping Shanghai by miles (I mean is it really a competition?) I'm glad that it's finally getting the spotlight given how hard it was hit during the pandemic (though struggling a while before that, and is still only operating just six days a week pre-Forzen to reduce cost). I'm sad that it never got the planned second gate, but Frozen seems like another great additional to this already unique, magical park! Thank you for your detailed and honest reporting, looking forward to visit the new land personally someday!
Oh a quick note on Asian guests and thrill, the general Asian audience actually really love and look for big, thrilling rides! Some of the most intense coasters are built in and for Asia (Takabisha in Japan, Gravity Max in Taiwan, etc.) Part if it is because what Tom said about letting go of the stress from the more rule-orientated life, and part of it is because pre-Disney, there really wasn't any theme park in Asia, the only successfully ones that existed were those that contained big coasters, even if with minimum theming (think Six Flags), so the word "theme park" became interchangeable with having thrill rides. The reason why people were so excited for the drop was probably because it was new and unexpected and people are just excited to go on it for the first time, but also how the guests who come to Disney is already a filtered group that know to expect less thrill. Many people, knowing that the Asian Disney parks don't have those big coasters, wouldn't even go because there's no nostalgia value. Unlike the US audience that largely grew up with Disney films, that's not the case in Asia, especially for guests to the Chinese parks. It's quite common to hear people asking constantly "who that?" when watching a parade (as a frame of reference, it's not uncommon to see people pointing at and asking about Daisy Duck, for example, not to mention the less popular, older characters); people may know that it's a Peter Pan ride, but I would assume less than 20% of people who went on it ever watched the entire film, let alone having any attachment to it (which is why I think Duffy & Friends really took off in Asia; it's cute, park original, and does not rely on nostalgia, and you can finally see a familiar face in meet & greet and parades). This is a huge reason why people are rather willing to spend the money on more visits to a nearby park that does have coasters (that's why OCT & Fantawild Parks in China are HUGE ), or visits to Universal in Beijing, than the Disney parks. The most common comment that I've seen regarding the inevitable second gate at Shanghai is for it to be more thrilling, like a LOT more thrilling, and only then would some people even consider visiting for the first time.
I wish we as Americans could be less self-conscious about enjoying whimsy, if that makes sense. I embrace it myself, but I think people have forgotten how to be young at heart
@@IDK-ui5en ah I don't think it's THAT bad, and if you wanted to go and are traveling there anyway, please do! So it weirdly doesn't feel really ... dinsey?, as it lacked many of the classic, signature rides. Tom, I’m glad to hear you loving stuff, but regarding your comment that “I’ve liked everything they’ve done with Frozen in the parks”, a reminder: you hated the continuity issue of the Snowgies playing with Little Elsa and Little Anna at Blizzard Beach so much that my wife, who only watches WDWNT casually, now refers to you as “Angry Snowgie Man” 😂
The Snowgies were well done and made sense for a snowy water park--they just didn't belong in a place that already had the Ice Gater. If there was a new Blizzard Beach-style water park constructed from scratch, a Frozen theme would be great. But the original theme of Blizzard Beach is classic and so rare in a world of IP that I don't want to see it get replaced with Frozen.
Hong Kong really is a great little resort. The landscape around with mountains and hills is unique for a Disney park. Add in some great unique rides such as Mystic Manor, the best Disney ride in my opinion, and you’re on to a winner
The drop is steeper according to the official and the area of frozen land is small and everything need to squeeze in so there’s don’t have space if the castle is life size. The castle is a water tank for the ride now. However, one of the problem that they can’t blame is the castle is so thin on the side. It’s obvious in the queue of sliding sleigh. The thrill ride thing is not like that. Hong Kong guests thinks the sleigh is childish too. I love that ride because tho I’m adult, I still can’t ride normal thrill ride like grizzly bear. It great to see a roller coaster not thrilling. This is a trend of many theme parks. They build too much thrill ride and kids ride. There’s no in between. Every time I visit some amusement park with my family. I always sit outside and wait the whole day.

As an American, I would love to see Frozen Ever After be remade into the one like the one in Hong Kong or in Disneyland Paris. How about the ride in Tokyo DisneySea? I have been begging for that ride, or even the way the courtyard is in Tokyo Disneyland. They do not have to recreate the entire land, just parts of it. They can still Americanize it. Disney claims they do not have the time or the money for the domestic parks. Look what was supposed to be for Epcot, and now half of the stuff they said they were going to put into Epcot is not even going up. Forget thinking about what Americans want. That is not why we come to Disney World in the first place. Tom, you keep on talking about how you long for Classic Disney, but yet you go to the international parks who keep on wowing the world with something new for Classic Disney. I was teasing. Mostly. I'm looking forward to your thoughts on how this will go down in Paris. There is no way they're spending this much - it's 100% Disney money in France - so where will the cuts come in beyond aclxing the kiddie coaster and, I'm assuming, the plussed- up Meet n Greet? I will fall dead in the boat if Frozen Ever After has LED walls and smoke effects. And, yes, I will be there shortly after it opens (not on purpose). (Speaking of France, you need to visit Puy du Fou. Some of the shows and walkthroughs there make you think Disney and Universal are amateurs. Yeah, the translation underperforms half the time - and you really have to put effort into ignoring that the creators REALLY glorify Imperialism and the Monarchy - but, man, is some of that stuff jaw-dropping.
The recent silver Partners replica statue has two errors on the plaque’s quote. First the “b” in believe is capitalized on the plaque and second, the word “idea” is “ideas” on the plaque. Is there anyway to contact Disney to let them be aware of these errors? I’m surprised they got past quality control.
Note to editors: please try to show us what Tom is talking about! He went on and on about the building you see and then enter, and the boats, but you didn’t show us, and I KNOW you have the footage because you used it during another part! 😎
I don’t care how much money the Frozen films made, they are still only mid-tier quality. Olaf is an annoying 🫏. The villain is just a sh!tty boyfriend. ffs
It looks amazing! The Asian Disneylands just look so detailed 🥹 Honestly I wish they’d bring this to WDW. Imo they took way too long (and made a very lazy ride) to bring Frozen into WDW and in Epcot? Look at Universal and how quick they are building Super Mario and seeing the response to the movie. I’m sure market research always knew Frozen was gonna be huge and it is. It’s kind of ridiculous their biggest movie is a princess movie and its ONE attraction is in the Norway Pavillion and not Fantasyland.

You don’t enter from the bridge, so it’s a meet and greet themed to the interior
Tom, I absolutely love these Honest Reviews but OMG with the 1:11!!! I have a job! And chores!
It’s an entire land lol
@@WDWNT Please also do a Honest Review for Momentous!
@@lsh.h5621FR YESSS PLSSS I LOVE THE SHOW SO MUCH
Well done, Tom
When can we get Frozen in the US maybe Disneyland forward.
My main wish for Disneyland Forward is a variant of the Tangled land at Fantasy Springs in Tokyo!
@@SoCalAviation744 Would love to see that. I'll have to go watch the vlog on Fantasy Springs.
Perhaps they are not fluent in english
Now if Disney can only figure out a way to transfer my soul into an animatronic
i have a photo of you entering the Frozen land
Creepy lol
Can you send it to me lol
❄️LEEETTTT IIITTTTT GOOOOOOO❄️
Note to editors: please try to show us what Tom is talking about! He went on and on about the building you see and then enter, and the boats, but you didn’t show us, and I KNOW you have the footage because you used it during another part! 😎
I’m a Patreon member. Could you please post your “dishonest” review there?
In Paris will the frozen castle have a meet and greet i thought !??!?!?!
You don’t enter from the bridge though
I wish wdw could go back to this, mayb if we don’t have to spend millions in legal fees against thanks to our own Governor
Disney has wasted money on horrible movies. DeSantis has nothing to do with why they don't spend money on the parks.
I don’t care how much money the Frozen films made, they are still only mid-tier quality. Olaf is an annoying 🫏. The villain is just a sh!tty boyfriend. ffs
Calm down pal. It’s a kids movie
Olaf
Wrong video
Im tired of Frozen and Elsa is so annoying.. 😂 but the place is "cool" if they put nice toilets there I will visit it.
Enough of Frozen please!! It is destroying creativity in the company!!
