    I highly recommend going to a boutique for a bra fitting. After watching Sierra go with the ladies that work with her, I found a boutique near me and was shocked!!!! had been fitted at chain stores multiple times and fitted incorrectly. It made a huge difference!!
    Also, not gonna lie, I was hoping to see the misskisses (somethung like that) strapless bra I'm here!!! I know it's crazy expensive, but it's calling my name with every ad lol😂

    Please get a fitting! I think you will be surprised and I'm not saying so to be unkind but the reason this look a little off and feel uncomfortable is that you are likely in too big a band and too small a cup - I made the same mistake for years too! You'll feel so much more comfortable in a well fitted bra.

    i really would recommend getting fitted for a bra! even when you measure yourself, the math is sometimes not exact. plus, when you're at a store, they are able to suggest bras based on your breast shape and comfort preferences. it can feel really intimidating and uncomfortable to go through the fitting process, but in the end it is really worth it!!

      Yes saw the bra video and was hoping she'd do a proper fitting first. Sierra did one with her friends and it was such a good video and I think all of them were in the wrong size or fit/style for them.

      Yes! Huge difference! Adding: you'll get the best fit at a bra specialty shop. (Found this out the hard way after being fitted improperly at 2 different dept. stores as well as Victoria's Secret.)
      The shape and position of as well as the distance between, should all be taken into consideration.

      Yes!!! There are so many subtleties, including how far the side wire sits (forget what this is called, but I got tired of being stabbed in the side until I got a proper fitting and was like OMG)

      Agree, but with the caveat of getting fitted by a professional fitter from a reputable bra store. There's a huge difference between those that know what they're doing vs those that stock a limited size range, work off commission, and gaslight you into the wrong sized bra so they can make a sale. Please do your research, then go to a good bra store for a fitting with a professional.

    • @TheGreeneBead

      @KG-ul7nx 1000% THIS. I've been fitted several times since I was 14 (different stores), and they ALL have told me I'm a B cup. But then when I put on a B cup bra (after I laugh at them and they say "just humor me", so I do it), my nips *don't even fit into the cup*- I have too much boob to fit. They are just saggy 🙃😅 So I personally don't trust bra fittings. At 34, I know what is and isn't a correct fit anymore; and even that (as Carrie mentioned) COMPLETELY depends on the brand/cup shape.

    If your underwire bra is hurting you then you are picking the wrong size. The perfect size bra will be effortlessly comfortable even with an umderwire. It is not normal to be in pain while wearing a bra even if it's normal to hear women sat that. Statistics show 80 percent of women wear the wrong bra size

      I think I realized this recently. For a second I thought I would stop wearing underwire altogether, until I found some underwire bras that were the most comfortable bras I'd worn in a while😳so comfortable I'd prefer them OVER my wire free bras

      @LauraBeutler well yes there are medical conditions that could cause this to happen but with the current statistics that is still far less likely than one simply not wearing the right size. I would say if getting a fitting done and wearing the right size from a good brand doesn't help, then yes see a doctor.

    Hey Carrie! I had a bra fitting done at a boutique recently and the advice they gave me was that when you buy a bra you want it to fit on the loosest hook. Over time the bra will stretch out and you will be able to move it to tighter hooks. I am also an adult who never transitioned into real bras until recently so glad to know there’s more of us 😭
    ETA: Getting a bra fitting done by a professional was the best thing I ever did. Now I can buy bras that fit me how they’re supposed to. They are usually free so maybe that would be a good come to the dressing room with me video?

      2nd this! A professional bra fitting can be game changing. My underwire bras are so comfortable once I got into the correct size. Just FYI for all those looking for where to get one done, look for a boutique, don't go to a dept store or victoria's secret. If you don't feel comfortable with a bra fitting, use "a bra that fits calculator". They use 6 different measurements to find your correct size. That will get you started, but try lots of things! breast shape varies and different cups work for different people.

      Former Nordstrom Lingerie manager here and be careful where you get fitted. Victoria’s Secret is the worst at fitting! If you have a Nordstrom near you that’s where you should go. And yes it should fit to start on the loosest hook so you can tighten it as it stretches with wear.

  • @LoveQuimper
    @LoveQuimper Рік тому +16

    Please consider doing a bra fitting! A good fitting bra should not hurt anywhere or give you side boob or back rolls or anything like that. These are not unavoidable things at all! To me, but I'm no expert either, it sounds like you're wearing cups that are too big (which explains the wires digging into your ribs and why the Skims one felt the most comfortable as it ran the smallest) and bands that are too loose (because a new bra should be worn on the loosest hook). Trust me, you will not believe the power that your boobs hold once you've got the right size on! You will look soooooo good (no pancake!) and be soooo comfortable. I know it's daunting and I can imagine a million reasons why you and others might feel uncomfortable getting your bra fitted, but if you go to a salon that you trust it'll be 100% worth it.

  • @atllauren
    @atllauren Рік тому +89

    If the underwire is really uncomfortable, you’re not in the correct size. My hunch is that you’re a larger cup size - society has us conditioned to think D/DD is like the BIGGEST boobs which makes us think B/C are “average”. In reality, D is a pretty small cup size. I wore a DD for years…turns out I’m an H.
    Also, I always find Torrid bras very pointy.

      People also don’t understand that no 2 cup sizes are the same. a 30D and a 40D are completely different size cups, the cup is just measuring the difference between your underbust and the fullest part of your bust. I’m a 30D and the “volume” of the cup is the same as a 34B.

  • @specialj67
    @specialj67 Рік тому +71

    I wonder if part of the fit issue is getting a band size that’s too big for you? Most of the support from a bra comes from the band, not the cups. I learned from getting a professional bra fitting that the right band size will feel snug but not tight when you fasten on the loosest hooks when the bra is brand new. As you use the bra over time, you’ll use the middle and then inner most hooks to maintain that snug but not tight fit. When you’re using the inner most hooks, that means you’ll likely want to replace it since the band might not be giving you adequate support anymore.

  • @khloecasey759
    @khloecasey759 Рік тому +43

    I highlyyyyy recommend getting fitted for a bra. You definitely aren’t a 40 band and if anyone slightly bigger than you sees this video, they would second guess if they need a bigger band size too, and that could be a little damaging. Especially since a lot of brands don’t go higher than a 40/42 band. I’m bigger than you and I wear a 36/38. Same with your jean videos. I understand you want something comfortable, but 80% of the support of a bra comes from the band. So if you’re looking for a supportive bra, that does its job, you need to have the right band size. Also when you first buy a bra you’re supposed to wear it on the loosest or 2nd to loosest hook, because it will stretch out overtime and it will last longer that way.

  • @ThereAre4Lights
    @ThereAre4Lights Рік тому +3

    Y'ALL. PSA! Sister sizes are a MYTH! People are just trying to have you still buy a bra when your real size is sold out or they don't carry your size! Think about it, band size is in inches, your ribcage just IS the size that it IS. sure there are multiple hooks so if 36 and 38 both fit around your ribs then maybe it would be ok, but your CORRECT size is the band size that fits on you at its LOOSEST hook! All that sister sizing tells you is how to find the same volume of cup, but as you change band sizes, the distance between cups change, the length from top to bottom of the breast will change, it's NOT your size! Only ever get a bra based on your band size first! Then if the cup is too small or too big, change that. Not the band!
    So Carrie when you said that it's strange that you've bought the same size in multiple brands and they all fit different, you HAVE NOT bought the same size! You bought a sister size!

    The problem you're describing sounds like too loose of a band and wrong cup size or shape. Strapless bras are notorious for having shallow cups so your boobs are probably trying to find space and the underwire is getting pushed down and your boobs are trying to come out the top. I had a similar issue before I started researching bras and found Reiddit's A Bra That Fits and measured myself with their calculator and did a lot of research on breast shape and cup styles.

    First, I'd highly recommend getting a fitting. Not VS, mind you... I'm sure Sierra would be more than happy to hook you up with where she went. Second, if underwire hurts, it's likely not the right size. I used to wear 36/38 DD. Turns out i'm actually 32GG/H in UK sizing. Strapless is still a massive issue for me. What I think a lot of people don't understand is that some bra styles just wont work for you because of your shape. I can't do molded unseamed cups. Or plunging, wireless. I've only found one strapless that kind of works, but I hate how it looks under most things because it has vertical seams that you can't really hide. I'd rather just let the stupid straps show or pick clothes with wider straps.

    I have almost 11 more months after breast reduction surgery before I can try different bras. I'm so looking forward to wearing a strapless bra. I never did have any that worked when I was a 44G. The cups would get dragged down more and more or the underwire strapless folded on me. Hopefully there will be more varieties available in the next couple years.

    I also recommend a professional bra fitting. I had one my freshman year of college ... but, I was very swollen that day (and didn't realize it). They found the PERFECT bra for me. Once the swelling went down, I went down 3 cups from a D to an A!!! I returned the bra and got my money back because they had NOTHING in my size.
    Sierra Schultzzie had bra fittings with her team and they all found the type of bra that was best for each of them too.

    Hi there! I almost never comment on UA-cam videos but I just wanted to share that the “Wacoal Red Carpet Convertible Strapless Bra” is my favorite! I have a larger chest so I have never found a strapless bra that works for me until this one! It never let’s me down! It’s on sale at Nordstrom right now for the Anniversary sale (so you can easily get a bra fitting there) but it’s worth it even at full price. I have it in multiple colors and sizes for when my weight fluctuates and it’s amazing! Highly recommend if anyone is looking!

    I may be repeating some of the comments already posted, but I recently got fitted by some pros at a few boutiques and there are a few things you should know about choosing the best bra for you:
    1. Bra sizes are not universal, just like most other pieces of clothing unfortunately. Granted, when ordering bras and trying at home, it makes sense that you ordered the same size/sister size as a starting point.. but I recommend getting fitted at a couple different stores/boutiques and trying on different sizes in person if you can. It will help you with sizing in rhe future if you try on bras that fit too big or too small, you'll know what sizes to try.
    2. You don't want to be on the tightest hook when buying a new bra. Bra bands stretch as you wear them and you won't be able to adjust the band accordingly if you're already on the tightest hooks brand new. Likely you need to try a band size down in those bands that are similarly sized.
    3. When trying on a new bra, I was taught that when you are putting the girls in the cups you should lean forward a bit to make sure all of the breast tissue gets in the cup and scoop whatever spilled side boob back into the cups if necessary. It helps make you feel held in and helps with shape if you have that spillage issue!
    4. Personally, I went with the Torrid push up, and I do wear it a little lower on my ribcage. I don't think it gave you cone boobs, but I def know what you mean about feeling that way, I think I'm just not used to seeing myself like that and felt self conscious when I experienced this, which is totally a fair reason to pass on it. But it might be worth trying a band size up to see how that fits around the band. 😊 I did want to say though, Torrid also has some strapless bras that don't have the push up, I'd say those might be worth a try for you. I didn't choose them ultimately, but they do feel a bit different to the push up and you might feel better in those.
    4. When you compared the Skims and the Torrid bras, I think the fact that the Torrid one has the push up which takes up space in the cup and looks more structured compared to the other, makes sense that it might be a bit bigger. But again, they don't all fit the same. Why can't finding your size be more simple? 😂😭
    5. I don't think I have ever tried any strapless bras without underwire that actually held up the girls (my size is very similar to yours). This is totally based on my experience, but I think once you get to a certain size, strapless bras that don't have the additional structure that underwire provides don't work very well. But if it's out there, I hope you find it and tell us about it!!❤
    6. Alternatively to strapless bras, there is boob tape that you can use when you wear strapless tops. It is a bit of work to get used to putting it on in my experience, and if you don't like the sensation of sticky tape on your skin, that's prob a no go. 😅
    Good luck on your bra search, Carrie! I hope you find something that ticks all your boxes! 🤞♥️ It would be interesting to see if you try out other sizes in these brands and/or what you decide to keep! Thanks for sharing with us!

    Just a fun fact on bras. You want the bra to fit on the furthest to the end hooks then as the bra band stretches over time from wear and age you move up to retighten band. (or of course as bodies fluctuate cause thats also normal) but thats the "science" of why multiple hooks for the band. Love your videos. helps this mid/plus size girlie with more clothing ideas and opinions

    I have and love the first Torrid bra you tried on in that exact size actually too. But the pushing into your ribs definitely hurts and the silicone grippy bits give me kind of a rug burn type of thing if I sweat at all. Even so, the best strapless I've ever had. Haha. I just wear it sparingly because she NOT comfy.

    Just throwing this out there, i dont think you are buying/ wearing the correct bra size. Most women are nit wearing properly fitting bras in their true size. Unfortunately sizing isnt unform between brands either which makes it harder.

    I have been on the hunt for great plus-size bras for my whole adult life. I had an idea one day to go to several places and get fitted for bras. I went to four bra/intimates stores/locations and was given FOUR different bra sizes. I see a lot of people talking about wrong sizing in the comment section, while that may be a factor - I think nothing is ever consistent like Carrie said and things fluctuate by brand/store, etc. It is very overwhelming and hard to know what size to get when needing specific needs, material, wire/no wire, etc.

    Tip: you should always have a new bra in the loosest hook, since the band will stretch with wear. Then you start using the tighter hooks. Also, bra band is supposed to be so tight, that you can only fit 2 fingers under it.

    Okay y'all, I've been on the Bra That Fits websites and reddits and ALL that. I've done deep dives into the style of bra, the shapes, the sizings etc. I've gotten multiple professional fittings from local businesses that understand correct fittings. YES, the underwire is much more comfortable when you go through all of this. But NO, I still cannot stand an underwire. That's on my unique sensory needs. IDC if it is pro-fitted, I cannot deal with underwire, and that doesn't mean there's something wrong w me or my pro-fitted, multiple times confirmed size and shape. HATING UNDERWIRE IS VALID.
    eta: I found it helpful that Carrie went with 1 size across different brands. This is pretty on-brand for her other try-ons. It shows the drastic size differences across brands (which is something she mentioned(!) and is well aware of) which we as women really shouldn't have to deal with.

    I find that most strapless bras give you pointy boobs. I don’t know why. Maybe it’s just the way it lays without straps. I will say…the bustier style strapless bras are so much more effective for c and up cups. Plus you’re less likely to have that weird back/side roll strapless bras can give you
