Like a scene from Top Gun, these 492d Fighter Squadron F-15E Strike Eagles depart at golden hour into the sunset at RAF Lakenheath. Just listen to those PW F100-229 engines on these F-15Es. Ooomf
I've said it before but the operational tempo of the 48th Fighter Wing is awesome to behold. Now with F-35 Lightnings in the mix, and four active squadrons, it's busier than I've seen it since the 1990s. With more stealth jets on their way it's set to get even busier over the coming months.

Place has changed so much from the early 70’s when we were stationed there.
I'm happy to see 0301 and 0318 still on active duty. I worked on them a LONG time ago when I was stationed at Lakenheath. Most of their similar years were sent to the reserves and guard long ago.

I visited my son when he was stationed at the then Elmendorf Air Force Base in Alaska. I was allowed to enter a hangar and put my hand on an F-15 that had actually splashed a Mig. A lifelong dream of mine. These are one of the greatest multi purpose combat jets in the world. Russia doesn't have a chance against these. Long live the people of Ukraine 🇺🇦 My thoughts and prayers are with you. Stay strong...........

The funny thing is, that f15 shot down a mig 29 likely over Serbia. Serbia was fighting for what they consider their hold land, Kosovo, which was part of Serbia. Yet you probably fully supported nato's war in Serbia. You see how unprincipled you are? Second, the f15 is undoubtedly fantastic, however, so is the su35, su30 and su57. The s400 is also fantastic. You're delusional if you think these f15s won't have losses. It's not Iraq or Afghanistan. I will be disgusted if one American life is lost over this conflict that NATO could have stopped but instead instigated.

Beautiful birds. My grandfather was a master sergeant in the US Airforce. He served in the Korean and Vietnam wars. As a small kid the stories he told me were mostly more about the planes themselves. The way he loved the C-130 I’ll never forget.

Prior service Air Force here….Have always taken the good-natured ribbing from the other services (chair-force, etc!), but there’s no doubt we are bad to the bone!
I grew up in a flying family. My dad and all siblings were Air Force. I love planes.
The only thing I hate about the F15 is that it is so fast. Less viewing time on departures. Awesome video by the way. Love the F100-PW-229 sound track. Excellent camera control and visuals.

The F4s are a beautiful old fighter jet always liked the way they looked . F16 ,F14 and the F15 SE are very capable fighter jets and each one brings a different game changer weather it's speed, radar capabilities or flight controllability

I served there when the LN markings were on F-111F's that rattled the window panes. Putin the GOON (who looks exactly like Popeye's Allice the Goon) has a lot to be nervous about. I hope one day we can see a drawing of "Alice the Goon" painted on the side of one of these F-15s!

I was stationed at Elmendorf AFB AK. They had F-15's there. They used to take off in the dark 2 at a time with afterburners going. What a sight.

Back in the early 70s I was deployed to Rota Spain and our ramp was near where they did touch and goes in F4s. I worked nights and it was always a sight to watch. I live almost 20 miles due North of JBER. We have a great sky view and we see a lot of ops. We see the C-17s doing there run on the drop zone. I heard some F-22s climbing out about an hour ago. They climb out heading North just about right over our house most of the time. We see most of the Chugach Range along the Highway to the east and Susitna and Alaska Range to the west.
I still proudly say, The F-15 Eagle or in this case, The Strike Eagle -------is the most beautiful fighter ever built. I'll take it any day , every day.

Yes, long live Ukraine and the very best to the Ukrainian forces who are doing an amazing job of defending their country. Not sure this God is doing anywhere near as good a job as the men an woman fighting on the front line. I would love to see Western aircraft enforce a no fly zone.
The Reason the F15 Eagle is so effective is the dual Pratt Whitney F-100 power plants. When I worked for PW I machined the Burner Cans. One Hell of an Engine with few flame outs like one of PW's competitors..GE. One Air Force Major told me when he saw those PW Eagles on the Nacel of his engine he knew he was coming home.
