The key is killing any eggs, and then preventing future eggs from being laid on your garments.

What about steam? I though steam will kill moth eggs and it’s chemical free.

My plan for this spring is to use an under-the-bed plastic container with lid. Before sealing the lid, I'm going to use essential oils, like Lavender and Oregano. May throw in the Cedar blocks too, but Oregano dipped paper towels added to sealed plastic bag has always worked for me. I happen to own more wool jackets now.

Go back up to the detailes and look for the link to the art of manliness article. I give more tips there. And what they suggest is OK, but be sure to make sure the suits are dry cleaned before going into storage and I would suggest you use higher quality fully sealing bags that breathe somewhat (you can get them at target or walmart for $5 - each one can hold 2 suits).

I'm facing dry cleaning and invisible mending costs on all my scarves and some of my sweaters, jackets and trousers, as I discovered yesterday when visiting my off-site storage facility. Is it off-season where you are? Are you packing stuff away for use next year sometime or maybe even longer? Dry clean it, buy some moth balls, seal it tight in rigid airtight containers - _not_ in those plastic sheets that sit on top of your dry-cleaned items like I used for all of my (very expensive!) stuff. Now my repair bill might rival the original purchase price of the items. But my garments mean a lot to me. I pay a lot for them, but then I also expect to get a long life from them in return for their hefty price-tag.

Real Men Style - Thanks for this video. It sounds like there are really no good options here. Either you use mothballs, which are really toxic and smelly, or you use cedar blocks/balls, which aren't very effective, or you clean and store them in an airtight container, which means you are storing them for a long time. But what if you're storing them in a closet, basement room, or attic that moths can get to? What would the solution be in that case?

    Hi Antonio,
I've never had moth problems in the past, but I'm about to purchase my first suit and I want to do everything I can to keep the critters away. Do you do anything special for your suits that are hung in your closet all-year long? Thanks!

Keeping it in a suit bag usually does the trick

Freezing suits is apparently a good one providing that theres no other moths lingering. Two weeks of freezing should sort out all the clothes moths. Though for my own assurance. Im going to isolate the contaminated item and keep it well away from my suits. Give it a month or two and it should be good

If moth balls have direct contact to your garments for a long time .. does it damage it or nah?

It ruins them with the smell so see if dry cleaning them after summer removes it.
