I worked for a high end furniture co. And in the better ladies dressers and etc. They always added cedar inside.

I like it when you guys wear the same tartan. It shows how different shirt options, etc can work.

NEVER use moth balls! I'd rather have moths than moth balls in the house. The smell will permeate everything, from your clothes, your food, and your body. My grandma used mothballs in her closet and every time we'll brought food or any item out of her house it STUNK. I still gag to this day thinking about eating food that tastes like moth balls.

Lavender. Lavender oil, dried lavender bags/sachets, lavender wands. I've never had an issue with moths where lavender is used. It will need to be refreshed occasionally, but it works well and smells wonderful.

Sand your cedar every 3 months, use cedar essential oil, don't let the cedar wood touch your garments, keep garments in a breathable storage bag so they don't get moldy, keep garments and your closet clean during storage, and as a last resort treat your garments and storage bag with permethrin; it is a safe to use treatment that lasts for 6 weeks and kills bugs on contact.

I've bought small bottles of concentrated cederwood oil that seem to keep their smell better than the blocks.

Can you recommend a good cedar wood oil band?

Try cedar bedding for small animals (like gerbils or hamsters). Place a few handfuls in a nylon bag (zippered laundry bag). It's worked so far...!

A drop of Lavender essential oil on a peace of cedar wood, repeat every 3 month helps well.

Microwave it, I have several 100% wool blankets from Hudson Bay Company, and like.all verging wool it is not cheep. I was informed by the company that they have treated all of their wool with a permanent moth
Treatment, I have had one or two of these from the mid 80's and mothes haven't damaged them at all.

I understand where Eric is going but it's the "Aromatic Cedar" that "works". Have never seen Aromatic Cedar shingles. Would be very cool but I don't think they exist.

The moths in New Orleans could care less about cedar and have eaten through many of my suits and sweaters. They ate a brand new suit I had never worn that was INSIDE a cedar wardrobe that I hadn't noticed that after moving it had knocked one of the rear boards out of alignment so it created a small crack they could get through.

What grit should you use to sand the cedar

    • @USAKiltsOfficial
      @USAKiltsOfficial  3 роки тому +1

nothing specific that I know of, but probably a higher grit... 180 to 220 range is what I'd use. Just enough to make it smell like cedar again.

I recently bought a vintage kimono. To protect it from moths, I bought cedar wood blocks, but if that doesn’t work, I like the last suggestion-BURN IT. That’ll definitely get rid of the moths 😌

@@maximilianolimamoreira5002 Ya. The range of views on "luck" could fill many novels. Some say the best luck is simply dying at the right time. Some see luck in every shift of wind. I tend to see it as more random chance we either take advantage of or miss out on

After you wear your kilt, let it "gas off" and the next day roll it up and put a ladies nylon stocking over it

FYI, I d Pest control, Months live and bread in natural fibers and they eat natural fibers to eat and lay more eggs you need to do a liquid treatment to kill the eggs and the adult moths. Then you don’t need cedar or moth balls.
