Good job on the little "rant" at the beginning. A lot of people are so overly sensitive when it comes to the care and get completely warped perceptions from their over baring mind set. "You cant do this" "You should only do that" "Paper towel only substrate". They don't run around on paper in the bloody wild.
Your so right i was so proud of him for standing his ground. I hated the idea of papertowels, i only used it for my beardie when she was a baby and there was a huge difference in her behavior during her first walk on dirt
Relle Wilson I only use paper towel for quarantine, and if they are just little, little babies, also since I’m saving up to buy some stuff from TheBioDude.
I am super excited that I came across your info online. We just got an adult bearded dragon from a co-worker who couldn't take her when he moves. It is the most boring tank set up with sand as a substrate which I do not like. LOVE your setups & am excited to see someone so passionate build a business on it! I will be buying my setup tomorrow once I can talk to someone at your business to help answer a few questions & help me order. And I will be sure to give a shout out to my other reptile loving friends :)
I got my 75 gallon bearded dragon tank set up a few days ago with your Terra Sahara kit, and I love it! My dragon has been more active and alert since we switched. I planted it with beardie safe herbs and not only does it look nice, it smells awesome too. 👍
Just got my set up today for both my Bearded Dragons and it looks awesome, they both do enjoy the set up and can definitely tell a quick difference in there attitude towards their habitat. I did send 2 emails to customer support in regards to missing items hopefully they get back to me soon.
Hi Joel. I'm so happy your dragons are digging their new environments! I sincerely apologize for your missing items. I trust that Amber took good care of you?
Thanks for these videos. My son is starting to build out a habitat for his first lizard; a bearded dragon. This helps us understand what needs to happen to help it thrive. Actually saw you at the Houston show this past summer and was intrigued. I'm learning a lot through these videos.
Dude, I dig the facial hair!!! Lol. Impressed that u take the same veiw as zoo's and other professionals in the setup of reptiles. There are some strange thoughts on the husbandry of reptiles, I like u prefer natures way. If it's worked so far, no point in changing it! Grt tutorial again. The Bio Dude Josh Halter. awesome, really into that. Iv followed ur advice on all my setups and there thriving, I've not long started working with an Ornate nile I was given as a rescue. Looking forward to u supplying the UK with ur products.
"Dry on top, and middle in the moist and bottom." Haha! Hey Josh. Been following your vids for over a year now. I just bought your Terra Sahara for my bearded dragon. I have built him a new tank and look forward to sharing a vid about it soon. I've completely changed up my channel and so I currently only have an intro vid, but more to come so stay tuned. Also, I want to add that I am a HUGE supporter of the work you do and I am looking forward to seeing more videos from you. Take care. -Wild Man
Awesome, im looking to get a bearded dragon soon and i will definitely be using this. Im not a fan of putting them on tile, newspaper or paper towels because it dosent mimic their habitat!! This is way more realistic. Love it.
I really appreciate all your videos sharing your knowledge , much better set up that stupid newspaper and a rock!! Fantastic, here in UK i shall try to replicate what i can using your video guidance, again thank you !!!!
I know there is sand in the soil mixes. Have you ever considered using colored sand to allow people to have a tint to mimic certain biomes? Red sand for Australian outback, white for a lighter color to the substrate, etc?
Nicci, you can surely put it on the bottom or the side. Belly heat is a myth and as long as it has surface area it will help raise the ambient heat of the substrate.
Great video! I am new and been doing research and watching a lot of your work. I will be getting my first beardie and I will be using your products. During research I have come across the possible need for ceramic heater to maintain the heat temp during lights out cycle. What is your viewpoint on them? Do you remove your LED and replace with the ceramic heater? Thanks and keep up the great work!
I love ceramic heaters. I use them frequently, especially with my Pancake tortoise during the Texas Winters. You need to make sure that you use a wire dome with them. If you are using live plants I would highly recommend using the LED or if you are not satisfied with the amount of light the UVB is putting out. Its very important to use normal nighttime and day time bulbs in some way that they know there is a photoperiod.
You should do a indonesian blue tongue skink. They need a large enclosure and also the humidity has to be high it is a ground dwelling tropical species
Do you maybe have a video on lighting for plants? I keep a lot of house plants on my windowsill, but I would like to learn more what they require in a terrarium like this. Is the LED enough, or do I need an UVB? Thanks!
I am soooo glad you emphasize that for an adult you need a bigger tank! When I see videos of people with small tanks for any reptile I stop watching!!if you don't have the money to provide a suitable environment then don't get a reptile to begin with!!!
Hey, ordered the 40 gallon terraria kit off your website, filled all of my expectations! Was wondering, I've seen a lot of other videos regarding how to setup a bioactive terrarium, most of them include a bottom layer consisting of small rocks to drain out excess water. I noticed that your kits don't come with that. Is this layer necessary? If not, why is it included in other videos?
Yesterday, I binged watch quite a few of your setup videos and they are great. But, if I may give you a piece of advise, I always heard from community manager and all of those people, you souldn't release to much content at once but space it out a bit, to hit a bigger audience and have more people hooked on regular content. So, maybe, when you have 3 videos, like today, you should release them over a week or so. I don't know if it's useful nor needed but it could get you few more views and/ or sales. PS: Do you consider having Bio Dude Europe? We seem to lack your products around here.

Hello I have one question before ordering a bag, do you need to add all that water onto the substrate if I'm not planning on using live plants? Thanks in advance.

Hi Steve. I would have some help getting it up the stairs. It would depend on how many bags of substrate you will be using each bag of Terra Sahara weighs about 40 lbs.
