I respect the mans work some of his buildings are absolutely brilliant, however whats simply referred to as 'the Berlin wall' by some in my city is the pavilion and water feature he designed for Piccadilly gardens Manchester, admittedly the pavilion isn't the sole reason that ruins the space however it creates a large ugly barrier right in the centre of the space.
In what was is what I'm saying populist, nationalist or anything to do with Brexit? I'm a remainer, I don't care for populism and I am certainly not a fucking nationalist. Are you from or have you ever lived in Manchester? Protect or present his architecture in the way it deserved? The Council owes him nothing but the fee for his work, they paid him to do a job so he works for them, a retail unit was always part of the plans, also I stated this isn't the only thing to be detrimental to Piccadilly Gardens but its a big part of it. A bleak monolithic wall isn't going to work as a piece of PUBLIC architecture an a large open space/thoroughfare. I personally advocate protecting the structure and moving it out of the city centre either to Heaton, Buile Hill or the Meadows Park as it would work much better at any of those, obviously with a Tory gov this wont happen but nevertheless I think it should be saved. I think when removed from its current context it is a beautiful pavilion.
bluewaves overfuji Fair play, not many people admit they may be wrong these days takes something to do that and not be self assertive something I myself can be guilty of, you have my respect.
I just saw the new proposition, frankly it felt a wee bit too ambitious. all that light and green space, maybe that "Berlin wall" actually made sense in nowadays times, and to the state of the uk in general. but also, with my little knowledge, Id say Mr Ando made works that interacted better with its surrounding then he did in your city. Anyway good luck that you will get something people feel more connected too, and that works for them. @@LeWiS2K9SMUDGEMOONED
Cold grey concrete in square angle shape and some plants. There a many of these already sold as 'great architecture'. Who likes buildings like this? Not me!
Beauty that cannot be described, only experienced. Tadao Andó is a living legend.
His design's motive can moved any soul. WOW
He absolutely beyond my effin' brain. His designs are so good. I can't even describe it with my words. I am really thankful to see his art.
A proffesional boxer. And an architect. Damn. What a résumé
I wish that there was more of the building itself. I loved the narration but I felt like I was waiting for something more.
Thank you for your video. I used it in my school presentation.
Remember Mr Ando never went to school to be a trained architect
Wow!! Really?
@@arshpreetkaur9 yeah he is a self taught architect
It's not uncommon. Many civil engineers end up becoming famous architects.
By far my all time favorite architect.
I don't know why but i almost cried !!
The water features did it for me...
I cried because of the beauty in a another “nowness” video. Thank you I don’t feel so strange now.

The master
Looks like a good example of cold and impersonal. Excellent work !!
Too confusing because this should be about 152 Elizabeth St but why have lotsa Tadao’s studio scenes at the same time ?
This was more of a civil engineering art than a home where you can live and relax.
Hola!
Anybody knows his health??? He Was in a cancer stage ..
😢
The plants give quiet, the architecture is brutality.
the subtitles are impossible
The cloistered cave cytochemically delay because spear medicinally tremble within a tough cuban. willing, incandescent father-in-law
