I loved going to watch the Coors Classic! I was a teenager then, and along with my neighborhood friends enjoyed riding our first "10 speeds". The Vail, Tivoli, and Boulder criteriums where a favorite.
Loved the video! I'm an avid cycling fan of almost 50 years. I just had this video pop up in my "recommended". I'm going to watch all you uploads tonight and tomorrow. Glad I found the channel 🤘🏻🇬🇧
I love to see these beginnings of American road racing, Greg, Andy, Gavin and George... Notice the pain on the faces as riders cross the finish lines! Funny how we don't see that today in the professional peloton.
I had Galli components on my Gitane. The Red Zinger inspired me to buy a Peugeot CFX-10 frame and build it up with Italian components. I still have it today., Campagnolo NR/SR ‘early ‘80’s!
That was too funny. Although I must admit as a Hoosier kid addicted to his 10-speed, with friends who cut some of that limestone, and family that farmed the area, the movie was huge to me! I was picked up to ride the “Little 500” but didn’t go through with it. I did ride a road race with Dave Blase in the 80s and we had a nice chat.
@@zingercoorscycling9338 Probably could only ride a stout Columbus SP frame too. At 6'1 I ride a early 1980s 62cm C/C Colnago Super that I think is also SP and not an SL tube frame.
American Flyer's, is made after this race. The actor named Cannibal was a real person, and the Russians did come that one year in real life. Watch it once a year.
This upload is over 3 years old but almost all the comments are from the past 10 days or so. I guess the algorithm finally picked up the channel after 3 or 4 years😂 🤘🏻🇬🇧
Cool blast from the past. Love all the retro equipment and gear.

The 80s just had such a unique special feel to it.
When Colorado was still a paradise.

That "two day wheel change" was epic. Son, Rae Dawn Chong cleaned your clock!

Don't forget Davis Phinney. He won 18 Coors Classic stages. That guy was a crit killer too.

American Flyers, Kevin Costner. I love that movie
When bicycle racing was simple, one bike, everyone had similar frames, components and gearing. Truely let the best legs win!
Jim McKay was a fantastic announcer!!
"It's picked up despite Breaking Away" LOL .

Fabulous, I started riding in 1974 so Coors was The race that competed with the Tour for our attention
8:13 That's Héctor "El Gallo" Pérez. Great rider and amazing person. Such a fun guy to be around! Mexican Olympian in '88 too.
Love the music!
Is that Eric Heiden in a 7-Eleven jersey?
Absolutely! Fresh off 5 golds on ice skates. The 7-Eleven sponsorship was largely built around his prominence.
