The "light bill" statement wasn't meant to be taken literal. It was an example of the unrealistic expectations many women have of feeling that every one of them deserves a top 1% man. The average man is more than capable of putting in work and standing strong for their family, but they get overlooked, disrespected and degraded by many modern women holding unrealistic requirements at times, that many of them don't even meet. The fact that people are so dense that they can't understand that this was just an analogy is extremely disappointing.

IMHO, TP's statement makes the Black community and BM look as horribly dysfunctional as Tiffany Haddish's recommendation that BW grab a homeless BM off the street in order to have a partner. TP doesn't realize how helpful he is being in affirming some terrible stereotypes about the way BM see BW-- as unworthy of the basics that women of other communities take for granted. This kind of stuff is HORRIBLY embarrassing to responsible, rational minded Black people and eyeopening to those outside of the Black community who are getting a peek at what's 'under the hood'. DISGUSTING.
I can see why my own father INSISTED on ALL of his children ( male and female) be able to take care of themselves in the lifestyle he and my mother created for us. As a couple , they respected each other, education and a hardcore work ethic. He KNEW what his kids would face (especially his daughters). He also highly recommended that we NOT partner with ANYONE who has less to lose than we do ( on every level). They respect each other as intelligent and capable human beings. My father was not in the mode of lording his male position over my mother out of the societal insecurity some men seem to feel and bring home to their wives. They uplifted each other and TOGETHER built their family legacy. NO role was beneath them in the family-- i.e. Dad changed diapers as much as Mom did. It wasn't a situation where Dad encouraged his daughters to look for a man to take care of us. Self sufficiency was the order of the day-- for everyone.
