I like the idea of setting the PT pine in the ground and then covering it with cedar. Did you let the cedar sit right on the ground or did you raise it up at all to prevent rot? I know cedar is a naturally rot resistant wood, but if I built one of these would you recommend keeping it up a couple inches off the ground? Thanks
@@simongchadwick Nice design except for the 2x4s. I 'd use at least 4X4 wovenized lumber for the posts and enough concrete that it settles a couple inches above the ground line.

Yes, especially in high winds with more vine surface area. I'll be using 4"x6" posts for my arbor.

He's down three feet and pulling up lush black soil? Where's the clay? Is this the natural soil?
I noticed that too. That's crazy

You could waste lumber like that back then. Expensive as hell in 2024!
Should have used 4 x 6 posts , other than that , very nice job .
If you want to make it by yourself just go to woodprix page.

Ron is hitting on the chick ...... hes thinking kiss me babe and get rid of the loser .
I am sure you can still buy handbook with all info you need on woodprix. Just google it.
This time I'll use WoodPrix instructions to make it by myself.
