John's first direct love song. And although he composed a lot of "lovey-dovey" songs along Tom during their Golliwogs era, they don't really count that much since back then they were desperate to get a hit record, and those kind of songs were popular at the time. That was over when CCR finally got their first two hit records: A cover of Suzie Q and a song of John's own writing, Proud Mary.
Some people would say that Wrote A Song For Everyone was a love song for his then wife, but I don't think that's true. I think what John tried to say with that song is that he kept writing tons of songs in order to keep CCR afloat, but doing that ended up distancing him from his family.
