You do a great job Lucy keeping us informed . Everyone loves you ❤️❤️👍
send her money then
Very handy to know when we visit later this year.
Hi Lucy, we're in Benidorm for a week braving the 12 degree temperatures!! Still warmer than the UK...these rip off machines are a disgrace they are everywhere I got 90 cents for a pound and a £7.95 ,charge to change money...never again I have a Revelut card now loaded with euros...keep ul the good work as I've see Brits using these illegal machines whe there are proper banks such as BBVA etc x
Morning Lucy
Thank goodness these machines are horrendous these machines are everywhere in benidorm, I used one in la cala last year and not only did it rip me off it swallowed my card had to contact my bank right away good riddance to these ATM scammers (about time)😊
Anyone daft enough to use these machines will pay a high price if you need a machine go to a bank common sense surely?
Which councilor took the back hander ( huge prob ) to let these people install these machines ? That’s the question that should be asked !
Exactly my thoughts. 😏
Hi Lucy,
Thanks for this very important information.
I didn't even know about these machines.
I usually change my money at the Indoor Market.
There are 3 shops, and they offer good rates, and they give you a card, to show instead of taking your Passport.
Thank you Lucy we hope this put's an end to this rip of which as gone on too long People have been warned about these Machines for quite some time to stay away from them but as you say if they want some quick cash they will go to the nearest Cash Point
It’s about bloody time they done something. Very good information Lucy keep the good work up. X
Excellent work Lucy as ever well done 👏👏👏
Thank you for this about cash mashines .and cannot wait to get over in a couple of months .I will have money on me keep safe and keep smiling
Always take my revolut card and carry cash. Always get euro before leaving UK
Hello Lucy, it's so good that those scammer machines have been found and now are ready to be recycled to make good new devices.
However Lucy, I'd rather prefered to be scammed by a machine than to be mugged by someone with a pistol.
Another great and informative video! Many thanks Lucy and Crew.
About time to well done well done a great video as usual thanks👍👍👏👏⭐️⭐️⭐️🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🍺🍺🍺
Thanks Lucy 🎉for the heads up! I wonder if the same scam is going on in the UK?? Cheers, 😎👍🇨🇦
Hi Lucy. I always take enough cash whith me for the duration of my stay. I never have used a cash machine ever when away. That scarf looks familiar just going to pop and look in the wardrobe 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣. Stay safe and take care both xx
dafty 🤣
@@LucyYoungTBE 😅😅😅😅👍
Nice one Lucy, glad the machines are going
Thank you lucy for all you do for us watch all the time ,cant wait to be back in October
Great news and thanks for highlighting this.
How have they got away with it so long.
I have to say people seem reluctant to help tourists. A few years ago we sat in the day night bar and warned guys walking home on their own of the danger of being robbed by fake prostitutes at the top of the street, I even walked an old guy home however the bar owners didn't seem bothered.
These cons, robbers and people/workers trying to sell drugs are the only downside to Benidorm and I don't understand how/ why they get away with it if we can see what's going on then why can't the police it makes you wonder.
Thanks for another great video Lucy x
People sell drugs cos folk like taking them,, its not science mate.
Why did they allow them in the first place? Obviously back handers at the corrupt town hall there again. Put an extra table outside your bar and they're in straight away handing out stupid fines. Thanks for the update Lucy x
corrupt town hall ???
Why don't you stay home
Regulars will know, so feel sorry for the traveller's that don't know, not because they are gullible. But because they are trusting people. Good for the benidorm officials who have brought this to light.
If you bank with santander use a santander bank no hassle good rate minimal charges depending 👌
Hi Lucy yet another very informative and important video...we've been here since December as you know and to be honest we've used our Starling Account debit card in almost every bar.. restaurant..shop and the tram too...there are a minority of places that are cash only but the majority of places take card payment..Starling is a great on line bank to use whilst on holiday in Europe you get a better exchange rate than the places in the market and no charges on your account..we do carry a few euros with us for tips etc but use the card for everything else..cash can be got without any charges and again a better rate than the bureaus at the Kutxabank in the old town...also other bank ATMs but watch for their charges..Starling won't charge but the banks will...Keep up the Great work you do and we'll see you later in the week x
Great info thanks Phil, see you soon xx
Great work Lucy glad you manged to get a photo of it.
Love your comments.
How meny years have they been around for.
We use starling too and find it excellent for abroad. So easy to transfer money over to it from our main banking phone app too.
Keep the great work up Lucy , hopefully see you in April 👍
Great news about the rip off cash machines lucy the coucil ought to empty all the cash out and give all the money to charity 👍
👍👍Thanks, as always, for looking after us all another great and informative video, thank you 👍👍
I remember the video you did a year ago. I watched that! I always used them as well until that video 😊
Thanks lucy.....x
Thank god I've never used a ATM in benidorm cheers for brilliant update Lucy great work 👍
Lucía, te quiero!!!!❤️❤️
Another great video, cheers Luce. 👍
Looking well wrapped up there mate 🥶 😔
Coming from the UK the best way to get cash in Spain is being a Santander customer. I am with them since they were Abbey National. Santander customers in the UK can use Banco Santander ATM's in Spain free of charge with perfect exchange rates and no fees or charges. I visit Spain about 4 times each year and I have never paid to use my debit card at Banco Santander ATM's. Another benefit is that you don't need to insert your card into them as they have contactless points, so you just tap your card and then it asks for your PIN.
I was just gonna post this great advice, only for cash at ATM tho, don't use card to pay, one of the worst for payments, I recommend Starling for a payment card abroad, but pay in Euros, let Starling do the conversion, not the vendors service supplier. B4 Abbey National they Alliance & Leicester and B4 that Girobank.
100% Santander is the place to go 👍
Could I remind everybody you have to wear a mask on the bus, in a pharmacy and hospital. Most of you might know but I didn’t. I was on a bus and was berated by a Spanish man. I know now😊
Finished on public transport today, still in pharmacies and health centres though.
@@LucyYoungTBE thank you for info
Thanks for this follow-up video. If tourists were more discerning these rouge ATMs would die. But thinking about anything when on holiday seems too much to expect. Buy a hammer, have some free entertainment smashing the ATM screens. Bet the town hall would soon get off their bums to take action. At least those who are not taking a back-hander from the ATM installers ...Time for a fairly priced Beni- Card? How hard can it be?
Hi can I ask you can you use your card to pay for drinks and food contactless over in Benidorm instead of bringing all money thanks
Take a black spray paint to them
Spray the screen and buttons
Unusable
Very informative as aways, never used them, so won't lose sleep when they gone.
Surely anyone using a pop up atm needs their head examined, or am I missing something??
Is anyone forcing folk to use those machines???
Thank you Lucy. Can’t wait for March 7th,coming back for 10 days.😊😊😊
Great to hear they are finally trying to remove them.
Thank you for keeping us informed. We are back out there in Match.
This information should have been made available years ago, why wasn't it ???? The tourist board should get heat on them for not bothering there arse.
She did a vid about it a year ago
Cheers 👍🏻
Great advice from you Lucy 👍👍
It was well informed vlog. I did not know bank changes were so expensive in spain.
Why has it taken so long to realise these machines are illegal by the authorities ?
Thanks for the update Lucy.
great video, i normally either use an atm once at the airport or just use the ones at banks not the stand alone ones. just take enough money for hols and use cards as well. my friend was charged £4.50 to withdraw 100 euros once! i remember a few years ago I used the atm at ING Bank in the old town(it's closed down now) the machine ate my card, when I went into the branch to tell them, a nice, young Spanish lady opened the machine from inside and got it back. I ended up going out with her the same night and the rest is history, so a win win all round. Funny how things turn out.
Great advice Lucy! Thanks again xx
Reminds me of the clash and bank robber hic
Hi Lucy thanks for the update.take care 👍
Thank You Lucy.....Have a nice day....now can you do something about the weather! 😎
I'm trying lol 😆
Glad you have been high lighting this.
Great news for everyone Lucy, great video as ever. Thank you.
Great information to give Lucy.
Coming over with the lads next week , will pass this info over , cheers 😊
From Scotland?
Top!!😘
Must have been a city councillor got his palm greased to actually allow these in the first place. Either that or the council and planning are completely inept.
Exactly
Excellent information Lucy .
Thank you for the update, Lucy, and team .That's good news to hear .
Hi Lucy, We have the same ones in Portugal,
Hopefully they'll crack down on them there too 🤞
Awesome 👍😎
Santander charged me 7 quid just to take 100 EUR out. They're all rip offs. Bring the €€€ with you.
We always bring Euro money and a Monzo card , We never use cash machine Lucy just might cannot get your card out or any other problems will have with them , Never Use ATM machine coz they charge you for drawing money out , Had MacMaster Lee Told you that Lucy lol
Regards
Eric and Margaret
Spoons Couple from Essex
thxs ill try avoid these ones( mind you if the rate seemed very bad or so id just take my card back and look for another atm if i could) is there alot of legit atms near strip or so . Does many places take cards?
Have they done anything about the Morrocan and Romanian gypsy's mugging people round the Ambassodor area absolutely loads last August getting pissed Brits. Watches etc.
Hi I used Caixa bank near the bulldog on Saturday. I used a Halifax Clarity credit card which has no fees for foreign transactions and cash withdrawals. However, the cash machine charged a €7 fee for withdrawing cash. I cancelled before realising I could do with the cash after all and instead withdrew a much larger amount as some sort of bizarre offset of the fee charged per euro.
I'm not sure why there would be such a large charge at the ATM maybe it's because I was withdrawing against a credit card. It certainly seemed that the fee was from the ATM Bank rather than Halifax.
What grinds my gears about stuff like this is the Spanish local government was not doing their job properly for so long, folk lost a lot more than €2000 euro per machine, so it was worth it for the scammers. They made a profit. Now the local government makes money, but the poor unsuspecting souls that lost money won't get a penny back.
I lost my card in a Santander cash point and the bank staff said they couldn't help me and were very rude. Spanish not helpful 😒
I used the ATM yellow and blue cajero yesterday and 40€ cost me around
£45, the charges on the screen didn’t seem to even add up, there seemed to be hidden charges!
it's the exchange rate they offer. nowhere near what you should be getting. avoid avoid avoid.
Hi Lucy,
Its now a couple of months later. What is the latest on these ATM's. Are they still around and are they still in use? Looking forward to an update.
Take care.
I been pass plenty of ATMs in Benidorm , and probably been pass many in other resorts including exchange places
Hi benidorm lovers .
Can anyone tell me which is the cheapest option to travel from alicantie airport to benidorm .
As we have not bookd transfers for our holiday .
Hope anyone can help 👍
Thanks
Same scam machines down here in the Algarve. In Portugal always use a Multibanco
The Honest Guide channel in Prague had been warning about these for quite a while. Same operators.
Cheers lucy stay safe 👍
Thank You very much Lucy....excellent
Thanyou very useful advice. Will be there in a few weeks, hope the weather picks up.😁
How about you talk about the actual sandtander ,caiax banks charging 6 euros a withdrawl used to be 3 euros
Any updates on these cash machine's are they still in place many thanks keep up the Amazing work ❤
We’re coming in may! Was only going to bring card? Do you think cash is better
Great news , now to just issue fines and dismantle the "pea men " gang , now that will be great progress for beni
If you use santander bank in Spain with a UK santander card no charge and good rate 👍
Its took the spanish this long to sort this out there again they all try and rip you of in spain that is why i would never shop in a spanish shop or eat in 1 stick to english run bars
Thankyou Lucy.
Thanks for information lucy
Hi Lucy Tam from Bathgate here been coming over for years so knew not to use these machines I think it's mostly the younger crowd that get caught short and end up using them
Morning Lucy, thanks for all of the valuable info & fingers crossed we have some warmer sunny days when we arrive on Saturday 18th February for 7 nights, staying at Ambassador Playa 11 🤞
It's not just these ATMs that rip you off.
My wife and I were in Benidorm from 26th January to 2nd February......Santander bank ATM actually attached to the bank on the strip charged us 7€ for withdrawing 200€. A few days later at the BBVB bank at the end of the strip, we were charged 6€ for withdrawing 100€.
So around £12 for lifting our own money.....ripping off the tourist seems to be the norm now.
As i said on the video there are still bank charges which will be different depending on which banks your bank has deals with. But the exchange rate should be respectable. with the pirate machines you'll get far less €'s for your £'s
@Lucy Young yes I watched it and I would have thought RBS would have something set up with European banks.
Aw well......13€......it was 2 less drinks at The Ibrox Bar lol
go to Sabadel its only 1.80
I've been coming here for 30 odd years. Never used a cash machine as there are charges. Always brought Sterling and always changed in the indoor market. Best rates and also cheaper than changing in the UK before you come away.
I use Starling bank all the time and yes, pay in local currency & Starling will convert at that days rate. Thanks again Lucy. Xxx
Thanks for your continued sensible informed content
Denunciar
It is all fake
Nice one Lucy for re-raising this!
Rip off - yes. Illegal - no.
Thanks Lucy. Very important info there. We got stung many moons ago on our first vist to Bennie Glad they are getting took out so the young ones are not getting ripped off when they have a few shandies.
It would be a good idea if you did a video on the best ways to change your cash in not just Benidoem but Europe as a whole. Either take pound notes from England and use the exchange shops like in the Indoor Market or get an exdchange card that you load with pounds to use like a credit/debit card in a bar/ shop /or restaurant etc., with these you get the exact rate of the day when you use it, also no cash to lose by muggings or falling out of your pocket/handbag.
