- Monthly test of a Federal Signal Thunderbolt 1000T located by the City Garage in Hamilton, Ohio. This siren is a 4/5 port, set at chopper level 7. After this siren winds down, you can hear another Thunderbolt wind down. Hamilton has 9 sirens, 7 Thunderbolts, a 2001, and a HOR siren downtown. Sorry about the shaky camera and the wind noise, it was a windy day and I didn't have my tripod with me so I just set the camera on top of my friend's truck.
The sound of a thunderbolt is beautiful. 😘
One of the coolest-sounding Thunderbolts I've ever heard. Shame it's gone.
Where in Hamilton was this

Rip the bolt
Apparently this used to be a part of the Franklin County system along with many other Thunderbolts that they replaced with Whelens. It would have been AMAZING to hear back in its prime! But alas, I was born in 2008, therefore, I was too young and all the Thunderbolts were long gone by the time I got into sirens back in 2018.
Beautiful sound!
A1 blower. sounds like it's just a really good camera, not a leak.
This one has an air leak somewhere. I can tell by its nazle tone and relatively low volume. It does have an A1 blower, though. Great video!
You can REALLY hear the 6M blower roaring
Chopper type: 4/5
Blower Type: 6M / A1
So this is a Thunderbolt 1000AT-SA1
Nice video! Glad you finally have the guts to go film sirens up close!
That's the first time I've ever a 4/5 Thunderbolt run at that high of a pitch. Nice video!
I've always had the guts to film sirens, it's just that my schedule does not allow me to go to different sirens during tests. I only got this since I was off on spring break and was in the area with a friend.
Unfortunately as of October 2015 this siren has been removed from its location, no signs of a replacement siren as of yet. Two other T-bolts on nearby fire stations are still in place but probably will befall the same fate as this one has soon. Hamilton is said to get 4 Federal Signal 508 sirens to replace the 8 older sirens in town.
EMA said that old sirens will run the test until they die. I filmed the HOR today.
Interesting I wonder why the removed this t-bolt anyway?
I want Thunderbolts to return!
Yeah they closed down a month or two ago. IDK what possessed them to shut the siren off for.
Some fun information that just came to light recently:
This siren was originally in service in Dublin, Ohio, and was removed in the late 1980s/early 1990s and sold at auction as part of a lot.
That lot was purchased by Clayton Werden. This lot also included the one top Clough Pike School in Clermont.
This siren died of neglect, the blower locked up and they just chose to take it down
Where is this sirens replacement location
Nowhere
It sounds really quiet.
If I’m not mistaken, this one was refurbished into a bumblebolt livery.
No this one was scrapped
That one is ex Minneapolis MN
i heard this one when my tbolt failed. that makes 3 that dont work there now
if you look closely in Google Maps, you can see what might be the siren head behind the building that it was next to.
Where’s
Did you try to film the one at the fire dept on Shuler and Bender? I noticed the siren was facing the same way after the test. I'd bet they shut the siren off when that fire dept closed.
Rip
I wonder why they never replaced this
sure did, and no idea that FD was closed
If it’s blower was off it would sound like a model 2T.
the owner of the building behind it owns it
cool video
sounds like a chainsaw
Sounds like Minneapolis thunderbolt 1000T.
Sounds nothing like the Minneapolis 1000T. lol
+Paul Spomer Yeah I know.
lol
Dat 6m blower tho
The sound of a thunderbolt is beautiful. 😘
