HA THE SI-REX
You reached it 3-20-2021
The reason it sounds so alarming is because the notes it emits are at a tritone interval, which used to be known as the "devil's interval". It's probably the most unsettling interval in music, since it's the furthest apart two notes can get without getting closer together again either in unison or at octaves. The interval is often used in music to signal that something is very, very wrong.
It absolutely sounds like one of the downfalling string tones in a horror/spooky movie. Say for example the ghost track on Mariokart 😂
@@jetstream454 Yeah, but you're forgetting about it's greatest use.......
JAZZ
@@kansasclocksandsirens Jazz?
@@jetstream454 Yeah. The tritone is commonly used in jazz
Man this thing sounds badass!
Thanks, Duncan!
Nice! I bet it sounds amazing being there in person!
Thanks, It sure does!
Ya it's so cool
Glad to see they haven’t replaced it!
It's not going anywhere until it dies.
@@Videogamer52100if it does, hopefully TrainsAndSirens1 gets it
This thing sounds like doom, jesus
Yes it does. Thanks for watching and subscribe!
Like the old Amber ALERT sound when it’s in alert.
@@queencitysirens8755 whoo
@@jimgahn9188 oh my god it does
Then where's the heavy metal??
This siren is amazing! I would like to be there!
Edit: thanks for the heart! Stay safe!
Nice video of a very healthy sounding siren!
3 things 1. Reminds me of a tripod when it looks at the camera 2. It looks like it belongs on an army base 3. The paint chipping looks like camo
Nightmare fuel, I love it
A very healthy sounding dual tone siren. Man I wish I could see and hear one these jokers in person. And personally, I’m a siren type of guy, and this siren’s dual tone setup is very interesting.
Hell yeah! Awesome time we had.
Thanks, Bruin! Glad we could meet up!
Sirens Of SW Ohio Lol
@@queencitysirens8755 Its a shame im on the opposite end of the USA. Nearest siren is a state over. (Mobile, Alabama's failing Thunderbolt 1000 at Dog Park)
Still sounds healthy as ever
Thanks!
@@queencitysirens8755 Could use another coat of paint, but if it works, thats all that matters.
this siren's so loud it made my tripod dance!
AHH Yes Nice Video! Great man!
Thanks, Frankie!
Sirens Of SW Ohio Yep!
sweet video! that is just the weirdest fsk/dtmf activation sequence I’ve ever heard!
Yea, Butler county is pretty weird. It sounds like they switch up the tones sometimes. If you watch Bill's (amtrak3501) video. You can hear that the tones are a little different
This is a Super Sirex. Sirexes are omnidirectional sirens. This just a 15 horsepower compared to the 50 horsepower models like the one in Adrian MO
wow i heard the thunder-bolt i have right across my house
Rusty boi. These always creeped me out, growing up. They still kinda do 😅.
I love how you can hear the thunderbolts in the distance!!
That thing spins fast! That siren sounds very good! Good thing you caught it on camera!
It's not that fast. It's only about 4 RPM
When you pause the video but the siren still goes
Please stop
This siren has the creepiest wind up
Only in Ohio
What does FSK mean? By the way, Siren goes off at 1:38.
Fsk is a type of activation tone.
FSK stands for frequency-shift keying.
Nice video, i subscribed! Would love to restore one of these someday.
1st off, Thank you for subscribing! 2nd, Finding a Si-Rex to restore would be very hard to find. These are VERY rare sirens, and this one is the rarest. The only 7/10 port siren to exist. Finding other sirens isn't too hard to acquire. But finding parts/ restoring one may take time, and effort, especially for amateurs. I'm not sure how much of a DIYer, or fixer-upper you are, but if you work with mechanics a lot, It might be pretty easy for you. I hear Grainger has a lot of siren-related parts. You're best bet for acquiring an older siren would be looking for siren graveyards. TIP: Look in small-rural areas. You might get lucky and find sirens laying behind volunteer fire stations. (Trust me, that happened to me before). I went to film a siren, and walked up to the station with another siren enthusiast. And we found 2 thunderbolts laying on the ground, behind the station. It best to ask first, especially if it's not a volunteer station. But if it's a volunteer station, and no one is there 24/7. They probably would notice the siren was missing, or really care to be honest. But always ask first. Another option is Ebay and Govdeals.com. Hope this Helps!
@@queencitysirens8755 thank you! And ive restored several sirens (most of them were privately owned at the time) but ive repaired a few at volunteer fire departments before. And ill definitely check out the sites!
@@kevinobrien1685 Cool! If you do it in the future. Making UA-cam videos on it would be greatly liked and appreciated! I know a lot of enthusiasts who would love to see videos about it.
Camera be like a hurrican:
Hor super sirex: uh oh camera hurrican is here!
who else heard the thunder bolt siren 📢
Sounds like the next door water pump
how long does Butler test for? i might be heading down to this siren next month, and i want to prepare myself.
3 Minutes of alert
My grandpa is from butler,ohio
Sounds like the Texas EAS alarm Who's with me?
I don’t think sirens only sound scary, I also think they look scary
They look scary
Your right
ooooo nice, i might be heading down there in August
Great video!!!!!!
Thanks!
Sirens Of SW Ohio Np. Love your content. Do you have discord or Instagram?
@@TheChachLINY Yes, I have discord! Sirens Of SW Ohio
Sirens Of SW Ohio Ah ok. Tag? Mine is CDFN#3333
it could be reverse wired, because it doesnt get louder when it points to the camera and that the sound is coming from the bottom.
The Horn is on the intake If the intake doesnt project sound,
The shroud (The sirex helmet) Is just a horn, i mean the chopper ports
Hey I know you’ve gotten a ton of comments saying that this is a super sirex or sirex, how do you know for sure? Just curious
Don't know for sure. It's part of the Si-rex series. There's no real confirmation of being call a super sirex. It also makes sense that the single headed version would be call sirex 15s. And yes, I know about the omni directions sirexes in Massapequa. It just doesn't seem to make sense.
Siren in Ohio:
Only in ohio but actually only in ohio
Sounds like a Sireno and an STL-10 together
So in this side of youtube everyones profile picture is made out of sirens and people are sirens...
Here we are animals
1:38 starts
Nice!
Thanks!
It sounds kinda scary
thats an old siren. the older sirens sounded creepy lol
@@skywolfx76 Also the port ratio is 7/10. Very unusual.
@@CentralOHSirens it really gives it this deep tone not many or any other sirens have
@@skywolfx76 Yep.
@@CentralOHSirens definitely a siren you won't see being built today, modern manufacturers would definitely not make that for the reason, it's too chilling lol
I really wanna own that siren
I’m visiting it tomorrow
There are abandoned dual head ones around the US, one around Winterhaven, CA is dual tone, and inactive
finaly somebody didnt say it was a super
It hasnt been edited yet but its a Super Sirex
Cool
0:46 i hear 3t2aa siren activated
Sounds like it lol. But there are no 3t22s in Butler County. What your hearing is a mixture of t-bolts, and 508s.
Geez... Sounds great... But the paint... Otherwise great vidieo
Eksiuse me how are you?
Cool video! So where’s Fairfield’s new T-128?
You'd have to ask Clayton Werden. He stated the wind knocked down an SRN and was replacing it.
Sirens Of SW Ohio interesting. Surprised they didn’t replace it with a 2001-130 or 508.
@@carexpertandy Yea, They wanted a replacement quick, so they contacted Werden.
0:29 what is the Radio Frequency For The Siren Test
Me puts head phones on and turns sound up to full blast then 😵
Your is dead
Doesn't really sound like the same pitch like before.
The only super sirex still active
Nope
there are still plenty of them, just not much like this one
SIREN SIREN
why does siren sounds creepy and has a bad paint job only in :Ohio
That is so scary looking it has blood and ashes on it oh my gosh that is so freaky that noise
Only in Ohio, but the red stuff kind of looks like blood but it’s red paint idk
@@Madhav_GTR That's rust
@@kansasclocksandsirens I was saying that is rust and probably a red coat that the siren used to have but I think they changed it to a yellow coat maybe
@@Madhav_GTR No. It was always yellow, as this was used for Civil Defense purposes
@@kansasclocksandsirens that probably is rust anyways
Sirex = 1 horn
Super Sirex: 2 horns
No. The Sirex is a vertical omnidirectional siren. The super Sirex is a rotating horizontal siren. The Super Sirex can be single headed (like this one) or dual headed
@@kansasclocksandsirens those ones were rigged to be Omni bc the rotators broke
@@I_also_like_sirens_hehe They were also originally offered
@@kansasclocksandsirens at least the ones in Massapequa or however it's spelled had them converted
Nice!, but desperately needs a paint job!😉❗
How old is this siren?
1953 or 54
Actually they were made in the 1960s
This one went up in 1954 when that building was the old fire department and police station. All the other sirens were installed around 1975-1977.
Sound like texas
Can u hear tbolt at 1:33?
Yes it sounds awesome
is it still up? or is it taken down?
Still up and working.
Even after 60 years 🤯
1:37 HOR activation.
