I love this Sergio, and that you’ve been so generous in sharing your process…thoroughly! I’m guessing this system will work well on smaller canvases as well. I like that it gives buyers the option to hang or put it in a frame, the wrong frame style can sometimes keep a buyer from purchasing a piece!
You are so welcome! You can also use this method for just straight canvas without the paper. I would add a grommet every 12 inches all around for loose canvas without paper just because it’s softer.
Thank you! Appreciate your helping other artists & the breadth of your video topics. You’ve just given me a solution to a problem I’ve been thinking about for a year with this video.
Thank you for this Sergio! I too love to work on paper and have been thinking about using unstretched canvas as well. I’m looking forward to trying the combo of both!
Fantastic Part 2 about this technique, Sergio. Thank you so much! Question: Do you think it is safe for me to mount a mixed-media paper piece from 30 years ago this way? The piece is on Lennox paper and is sealed well with matte medium. Any special tips or considerations I need to make in this case?
Yes, absolutely. I suggest to first learn the technique and test it on an empty sheet of paper. You can always paint on it later. Once you got it, do the one with the art on it. My main recommendations is to spend long time rolling over the image until it dries completely. Sometimes I roll pressure it for about 45 minutes. The more the better to avoid gaps. Make sure the canvas is primed with a couple coats to be safe. Best of luck!

Absolutely. It will perfectly work on a smaller piece. It will be much easier than a big one. Best of luck!
I paint on big canvases & spent tons shipping framed canvases! This is excellent technique. This is so much easier to ship. Ty for sharing this!
